I don't know about the rest of you, but I know how I'd feel if there was a growing sinkhole threatening my place and the authorities wouldn't let me move my stuff out 'for my own safety'.

FWIW, I feel that sinkholes are Mother Nature's way of telling us she knows Florida is a geological abberition and she's well on her way towards getting rid of this tiny little sand-on-coral-and-limestone penensula just as fast as she can. Give her a couple of years to melt icecaps, brew up a few class-five hurricanes and dozen or two more sinkholes, and the problem will be over.

Just the kind of thing property managers love, a way to get rid of residents and get some time off too!!

Uh, last time I checked those were called "caves".

No a cave is hollow or natural passage under or into the earth, with an opening to the surface. These are hollow caverns under the earth that are formed from water pockets eating away at the limestone status, so they do not have a passge leading to the surface.

I wouldn't mind if it swallowed Apopka except for the fact that that's where I live. I ride through pine hills on Hiawasse almost everyday on my way to work and school, I hope it doesn't ever swallow that road up. Also, it's kinda freaky to go on I-4 now after that other hole that happened.
