ESPN has the same article, but with embedded video, here. Pierre made a hell of a catch on that play.

Is it really "robbing" if you take it from a theif?

2006-05-10 08:38:16 AM
That was a mediocre catch at best. The only thing making it anything more than routine was the fact that there was a wall in play.

IMHO, the catch was great not because it required great athletic prowess to accomplish it, but because, if even for just one more day, it prevented Barry from equalling the Babe.

Just my two cents.

Honestly, if I were a major league pitcher knowing what was in the press about Barry (and probably some inside info too), I wouldn't even pitch to the bastard. Intentional walks all day long.

Not only do you avoid being a footnote in his record (which should already have a few footnotes and asterisks anyway) but you avoid watching his self-righteous asshattery afterwards.

2006-05-10 09:59:13 AM
What kind of odds can I get that his kidneys fail before he hits that record? 2:1?

Bonds agent is saying he will be back in 2007 probably as a DH.

Sigh.

Guess which team will most likely fork over millions of dollars for a 1 or 2 year contract?

So not only do I have to see Barry Bonds break the record of my hometown teams biggest star (I'm talking Aaron here, not Ruth)

He will most likely be doing it in a Yankees uniform.

My prediction
2006 - 20 Hrs (728 career)
2007 - 30 Hrs (758 career) BREAKING THE RECORD
(he can play every day as a DH)
2008 - 18 Hrs (776 Career)

Even if your not an Aaron fan or even a baseball fan, it sucks to see Bonds break the record of one the classiest / hardworking guys in sports history.

I'm so sick of people saying its just a game, It doesn't matter, It's just stats

"IT'S STILL REAL TO ME - DAMNIT!" - Ha

Wheres the karma? Weren't we all taught that cheaters never win? If your an ass, it will come back to haunt you?
I don't remember ever being told in little league

"now Chris if you shoot up on roids, make everyone hate you, get VOTED OFF your college team for being a douchebag, constantly play the victim, beat up your mistress, lie to congress and a grand jury, and then blame the media for all of it - YOU TOO CAN ONEDAY OWN ONE OF THE MOST PRIZED RECORDS IN ALL OF SPORTS"

:(

So you don't think that Steinbrenner will throw up big bucks to have Bonds break the record to "give it back" to the yankees?

Even though Bonds will go in the hall of fame as a Giant, you can bet your ass he will be in pinstrips when he breaks that record.

or do you think he really cares about the San Fran fans and will turn down a HUGE retirement fund to stay in the Bay Area? Or that Steinbrenner cares about Roid Freaks?

Giambi admitted steorid use to a grand jury. Sheffeld and Bonds pled ignorance not innocence. Major league Baseball didn't test for roids in O'Neil's era.

Your an idiot.

If they admitted and didnt get banned or punished it must not be against the rules right?

Giambi needs everything you can give him, hes fat and talentless.

Paul ONeil was on AA steroids?

Height: 6-4 Weight: 215

Are you on crack?

Alex Sanchez
Height 5'11 - Weight 180

Mike Morse

Carols Almanzar
Height - 6'2 - Weight 166

Matt Lawton
Height - 5'10 - Weight 180

Jose Piedra
Height 6 - Weight 180

ALL SUSPENDED by MLB FOR STEROID USE IN 2005

That was the weakest argument I've ever heard, you don't have to be a be bulk of steel to be on roids, they improve hand/bat speed/recovery time/increase energy

Your a yankee homer who has already indicated your ignorance and stupidity.

Proper Name: Carlos Manuel Almanzar
Born: November 6, 1973
Santiago, Dominican Republic
Height: 6-2
Weight: 200 lbs.
Age: 32

So what are you doing taking their rookie year stats?

Also they violated MLBs Drug use policy- None of them say what drug be it recreational or AA Steroids.

But I guess in your mind Drugs are only AA steroids.

Im pro realist.

There is more money in Steroids than in playing fair. Therefore they will always win, and you will always biatch and whine.

And your a Jackass because nowhere on that webpage does it show WHAT farkING DRUG they were suspended for. They get the same suspension for doing Coke as they do for Equipose.

Steroid policy = Drug policy. NO DIFFERENT asshole

Also the only player to have the Failed drug test associated with a substance is Palmerio who failed it with Stanozolo(winny).

So why name one player with a failed and not release the others? Maybe because they arent steroids.

So why do I biatch and moan about steroids?

Well, I like to see fair play.

Here is a major difference between me and you roidhead.

You are in the military and probably sucked at sports in highschool, so now you take roids to get back and help with the littleman complex you had back in the day. Nevermind the side effects you can bench 300lbs now and gaze at yourself in the mirror.

I was drafted by major league baseball in the steroid era and while the minor league team I played on shot up roids left and right I obstained and couldn't put up the power numbers to keep up, toiled around in triple a for a bit, called it quits, grad college, start law school in the fall. no biggie. MLB is not a place for the "very good" its for the greats. I was just above average.

So not bitter or jealous, but I didn't like the feeling of having to inject steroids to keep a level playing field. I have no doubt that had I been a user things might have been different, but that was a risk/reward I was not wlling to take.

Oh and that webpage clearly states while they are banned. Steroids are Steroids. and any pro athlete knows what hes putting in his body.

Why would he? Bonds would be nothing but a huge distraction, he's old, broken, and could only DH, maybe producing 30 HRs next year. He isn't worth whatever Bonds is going to want. Cashman isn't the smartest GM when it comes to vets, but he and every Yankee fan knows better.

O'Neil (YES PAUL FARKING O'NEIL WAS ON ROIDS)

Okay, now you're just pulling things out of your ass. Unless you care to back that up? I don't think there's even any remotely circumstancial evidence to suggest that.

It was a good catch.

At least the Giants won and THAT'S what matters.

Talk about littleman complex- I was a walk on as USF but elected to join the USAF because I wanted to do something more exciting. Going to Korea, Thailand, singapore, Germany, Iraq, Kuwait, Quatar, Japan has been much better than getting drunk at the frat house.

I have not ever used Steroids but yet like all other media whores you claim that I have because you have 0 grasp on such knowledge.

At least with me, I get educated about it.

I go to the Gym 5-7 times a week. Why? Because I like to look good. Being 5'9" 245lbs but yet having a 34" waist is something to be proud of. Too bad you just didnt have the genetics or the will to hack it.

When was the last time you had a liver panel, cholestoral, BP, blood count done? I do these twice a year so I know how Im doing.

You have no Idea what you are talking about. You are just a jealous hack that couldnt make it to the show.

There is no playing fair once you start offering 20million a year to people and giving the players union unlimited power.

So fair went away in the 70s.

I work for Barry Bonds.

So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies.

Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.

But trust me.... You don't.

I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you dont know what you are talking about.

This is how bad info gets passed around.

If you dont know about the topic....Dont make yourself sound like you do.

Cuz some farkers beleive anything they hear.
