Personally I've changed plenty since then.

Yay! A chance to turn this into a religious flamewar;

I had an English teacher in high school that, rumor has it, appeared in a porno mag during college.
Also, this kind of story is going to start showing up more and more often thanks to the internet. There's a LOT of chicks doing porn these days...

She shouldn't have to say suck it. Some uptight pantywaist school administrator (from my experience, that's all of them) watched a porn, saw his teacher, then decided to be a hypocrit and fire her for something that's not illegal.

I feel bad for her because she did what all the asshats wanted her to do, beg and plead for her job and for forgiveness. That's absurd. She didn't do anything wrong.

This is the kind of crap that's destroying this once-free country. The self-appointed do-gooders and holier-than-thou moralists who believe that we should all be ashamed of everything we've done in our pasts, just because they said so. Fark them.

Why? You think she's actually going to be teaching them proper dildo technique or something?

The person that recognized her originally went to the bad side of this super-religious town to purchase some gay porn/snuff films/blow-up dolls and happened across this movie. My bet is the person that 'noticed' her in the movie is more of a perv now than she is...

Still, headline = LOL'd.

Well, while all the super duper x-tian bashing is going ahead swimmingly, I have one question:

Does anyone really think that this woman will ever be an effective teacher ever again?

Some High school kids are reprehensible bastards, and will use this tape to destroy this woman. She is like a water buffalo that was hit by a car, and the students are the hyenas moving in for the kill.

Teachers are supposed to be on this "high moral ground", Im just saying I wouldnt want a woman who was so low that she let herself be banged on tape for money teach my kids.
Besides, who knows maybe she would teach kids a proper dildo technique if the kids pay her enough cash. She did it once, she can do it again.

Elvis_had_a_stinky_butt And if this teacher was a Muslim, would they be so forgiving then?

/just sayin'

Well, not sure WTF you're asking, but that could be one of two questions, I'm guessing, so I'll tackle both.

A. Yes, since anti-Muslim discrimination is expressly forbid in this country. While does still happen occasionally, there is clear and swift legal remedy that can be pursued. Also I think the chances of her having been discriminated on that basis in the first place would have been much much lower. It's actually a lot easier to justify than to take action on the basis of religion...

B. No, under sharia law in a fundamentalist Muslim society she'd be in what's technically known as "deep deep doo doo". She could very well be killed. Even in more "liberal" Islamic societies she'd certainly be treated MUCH worse than she was, and still might run a very serious risk of bodiliy harm - if not from officials then from the community.

It's sad that this is even news. Our Nation is crumbling and being paralized at the feet of so-called "morality" and political correctness. What ever happened to the phrase "let he who is without guilt throw the first stone."

I'd like to do a little background check on all of these parents who are complaining and find out what they did years ago and post it in the inter-web. I know, I know. Some of you are going to say "but...but...they don't teach the young children of America...it's not the same thing." Well, how the hell do you know?

Either way, If your logic is to follow then anyone who has EVER done anything you consider a-moral should not ever do anything for you...ever. Do a little digging and find out what your banker did as a young person or young adult, find out what your accountant did, find out what your investor/broker did, find out what your insurance agent did, hell, find out what your parents did, what your teachers did. I think you'll be sorry that you did.

/This only applies to you judgmental bastards reading this and taking offense to it. Everyone else can move along.

Didn't Jesus hang around with someone who used to be a hooker? These people don't even bother to read their own stupid fairy tales.

Who are "these people"? These standards are in place in pretty much every school system in America.

It's not wise to use your contempt of religion as a method of attack. Consider for a moment that maybe, just maybe, people are capable of morality without religion. Otherwise you've proven exactly what Christian wingnuts have been saying all along.. atheists are heartless, cruel, empty shells that serve little purpose other than to waste flesh.

That said, I'm not saying that denouncing a former porn actress is either moral or immoral. But I am saying that it's pretty ridiculous to believe that only your short-sighted perception of Christians could possibly have a problem with porn actresses teaching their children.

2006-05-09 12:36:44 PM
hey people, calm down.

This is in my home town and here's: what I've heard about it from locals:

At first, they were just going to not hire her again for next year, but I think since it's got more media attention, they decided to actually "fire" her. Most people I've spoken to around town say they support her.

I don't blame them for firing her. I think the school administration probably does forgive her (as would I), however she would indeed be a distraction in the classroom. Therefore, the reason for firing is that they do not want a distraction in the classroom, not that they think she's a skankwhore.

How would that poll be doing if she had just said, "I regret it. It was a mistake", but without the religion?

You know the answer, and it has nothing to do with kindness.

Since when are teachers supposed to be on a "high moral ground"? What a load of crap. If you really think what she did was such a mistake, then she is the perfect person to teach children about the mistakes she has made.

Tourney,

I think the discriminator would be the event occurred years before employment, wasn't criminal, and most likely wasn't covered-up to gain employment.

Doesn't matter. In that area, a teacher can and will be fired for being spotted having a beer at a restaurant. Their case has been in the courts over and over, all with the same result.

2006-05-09 12:39:15 PM
I don't think she should have been fired. Maybe suspended until an investigation could be done to make sure she still wasn't making Porn but that's it.

I'd be much more likely to support her if she weren't caving & apologizing, ashamed, full of regret, etc.

She didn't do anything wrong. I guess it's reasonable that she might look back on it with embarrassment & consider it stupid, but it would be nice to see someone in that position respond more along the lines of, "And so what?"

Yeah, that kind of attitude goes over reeeeeeally smooth in the Bible Belt. Sounds like she's being smart enough to play up the repentance angle.

Now if she was in a blue state, maybe she could get away with the indignant civil liberties angle. Kentucky? Not so much.

/Oh, and, I'd totally hit it.

Who are these people? Apparently, they're evangelical Christians who don't think they have to follow the Bible.
As to the rest of what you're saying, I'm having a little difficulty even understanding it. What does what I said have anything to do with whether or not you can be moral without religion? Where did I say that only Christians would have a problem with this? I'm sure Hindus and Muslims would do, and if this case had involved them, you'd see me on this forum bashing them just as hard. Accusing me of some "anti-Christian" bias is unsubstantiated and a waste of your time.

Actually, I can tell my comments must have hit close to home since you pulled out the old "anyone who calls a whore a whore must not get any women" garbage.

Maybe it's because you sympathise with the whore. Perhaps because you have a lot in common?

P.S. "Whore" is not an insult, it is a description. If they take exception to it, maybe they shouldn't have been one in the first place.

A whooping 94% of poll respondents said NO to 'should she be fired'. That's good enough for me.

Plus, I thought born agains didn't eat their own only non-born agains?

Also, this is why I am not religious but instead spiritual. I recognize and forgive the fallibility of others.

Dye said that she's now a Christian and wants the Bible Belt community to practice forgiveness.

What, like she wasn't a Christian back then? Christian girls can't be sluts?

I definitely beg to differ.

Anyway... lame. Lame as hell. This isn't about protecting children, it's about a self-righteous, vindictive Southern community coming together to stone someone different so they can temporarily forget about their own sins. I know these kind of communities; I have family in a few of them in East Texas. Baptist towns are quiet, pastoral and friendly, but they aren't nice if they ever catch the scent of weakness. They'll tear you apart for the "godliness high" it gives them.

I think a lot depends on the kind of person she was as a teacher.

It also depends on what she did. If she made one film, no big deal. Anyone can make a mistake, and people deserve to be forgiven.

If she was employed as a stripper/porn star for many years and lied about it on her resume, she should be fired, no questions asked.

The issue there isn't morality per se, it's honesty. In the real world, if you lie about your previous employment, or any info you supply, you will get canned. Period.

He's implying that since we blame religious people for their over the top morality, atheists and agnostics must have no morality themselve and are as such far below the rest of them in terms of humanity; we are "heartless, cruel, empty shells that serve little purpose other than to waste flesh."

Funny, because those are the exact words I would choose to describe religious nuts like yourself. I enjoy my life, I live it with regard for myself first, and at a very equal level, those who I believe deserve any sort of respect or notice from me. Obviously, you aren't one of these people.

Try behaving and acting like a sane human being and maybe you'll be treated like one.

Accusing me of some "anti-Christian" bias is unsubstantiated and a waste of your time.

I'm going to assume that you read what you wrote. The part about Jesus hanging out with the hooker. Then I'm going to assume that when you talked about "those people's stupid fairy tales", that you weren't wildly changing topics.

I simply asked for your basis of bringing religion into this at all, then warned that it wasn't a very bright idea to do so.
