DasCor-cor: Oh, but I am sure that the right wing spin machine will just make the biggest moral outrage of the century.

Why is everyone bringing partisan bullshiat into this? Can't we just talk about how this guy is an moron who endangered lives and got special treatment without someone crying "b..b..but Bush/Cheney/Limbaugh"? Well guess what, they're all assholes, ok?

Look, this is all part of the deal they signed.

The conservatives killed off the most promising generation of their family, so the kids get to drive drunk for a half century scott-free.

Sounds fair to me.

Communism: A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members. (dictionary.com)

Seems to me that this is what the quotes in your profile are advocating. Can't let the sucessful leaders of industry have all the money. Have to re-distribute wealth to the less fortunate. Smacks of Communism to me.

My goof, fiskey65. I missed the point of your post cause I'm posting drunk. And you can't do anything about it cause George Bush or Patrick Kennedy might be above the law, but I'm doubly above the law. I'm above the law like George Kennedy in Airport '77, when he was in that plane flying around being all above things and stuff.

Well, until he crashed the plane in the Bermuda Triangle and it went underwater, that is. Typical Kennedy driver. Put them behind the steering wheel of any kind of vehicle, and suddenly it's all like "Damn the secretaries, full engines ahead! Dive! Dive!"

The Kennedys are powerful because they are the secret decendants of the lost civilization of Atlantis, and all they want is to return to their sunken home. Is that so wrong?

Why is everyone bringing partisan bullshiat into this?

Apparently no one cares. Case in point of t_g_o_t reading my post about partisanship causing apathy, acknowledging it, pointing to UberNeuman as a part of the problem, and then engaging in the exact same behavior.

Face it, too many Americans live for this shiat. Turns out politicians aren't the problem after all.

i think some of y'all should go out and get yourself a ambien Rx. ambien does strange things, just for kicks. buddy of mine made blacked-out ebay purchases on three consecutive nights before he cleared his browser's password cache. when you mix it with almost anything else (even a high-fat meal), the crazy shadow people might come out of the walls and tell you to do things. i sent emails to profs, administrators, and girls, which i didn't know about until a reply came or i checked my sent mail... i also deleted my sent mail once, i can only assume so the 'conscious me' wouldn't know what 'ambien me' was up to.
so, if you take ambien, don't mix it with pretty much any other scrip, alcohol, herbal supplements, energy drinks, or certain types of food. if you do, you might have a close encounter of the concrete barrier kind, and there's no way the cops will be as understanding as they are for congressmen named kennedy. bright side, you won't remember the beat-down of your life.

I suggest that you do some reading on the founding of our nation, and the principals of our founding fathers (Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, etc.). The United States was founded on the principals of limited government and individual liberty (these are the libertarian ideals). In recent years, the Republican party (which used to subscribe to these ideals) has been overrun by big-government types, and the religious right. That is why I identify myself more with the Libertarian party.

If you or I, regular citizens, hit a cop car and smashed into a wall at 2:45 AM, didn't have our lights on, then claimed we were late for a Little League game that ended 6 hours before, there is no way that we would be taken home by the cops and not tested for drugs or alcohol.

Oh yeah?

I'm going to test your theory.

Oh, wait. Hit a cop car. Nevermind.

That = hoosegow for you and me.

Occasionally an entertaining excuse, coupled with the cop's realization that I'm not hurting anyone else by being an entertaining drunk, can result in not getting taken to the drunk tank.

But if I crashed into a cop car, I'd take a billy club to the dome.

I don't know if I'd give The Epoch Times any more credibility than the Free Republic or the Democratic Underground.

If you can show me a link to the same story from the South China Daily News or the Far Eastern Economic Review, I'll give it some credence.

2006-05-05 12:40:58 AM
The Epoch Times is obviously a little biased pro-FG, but there's a lot of sketchy shiat going on between them and the CCP. I'm more willing to believe Falun Gong over the Chinese Communist Party, given the latter's track record with dissenters, particularly religious dissenters.

Hey, it's all good. I guess a lot of people don't realize that we have state-sponsored capitalism(basically a mild version of socialism)in America. Laissze faire capitalism was basically crap.

Amoung other things I've done on Ambien, I've posted on Fark that my fish tank was talking to me in a British accent. Sadly, I no longer feel it's effects no matter how many I take. My pharmacist is freaked out by this. I also got into a fight with another fish tank because I thought the coral reef was looking at me wrong. They turned off the lights and I calmed down.

Done and done.

The United States was founded on the principals of limited government and individual liberty (these are the libertarian ideals).

The problem I have with Libertarianism is the current Libertarian ideas on how to establish limited government, especially the fact that they're based on flawed assumptions.

Two examples:
- get rid of all government assistance for the poor, because the resulting tax savings will allow individuals to help on their own with their increased take-home income. This has recently been shown to be false. Link (pops)

- get rid of Federal regulatory agencies. Because letting corporations do basically whatever they want has worked so well in the past.

Orignially, only white, property-owning were allowed to vote. It wasn't until the 17th Ammendment (1912) that Senators were directly elected, instead of of being appointed by state legislatures. I wonder what Bovey thinks about those "ideals."

Well my shift is over, and as much as I would enjoy continuing out discussion, I would prefer heading home to my wife and child. I response to your last post I will just say I do not agree with every single position of the official libertarian platform, just as I am sure you do not agree with every single position of your chosen party. Libertarian is simply the party that most closely resembels my own beliefs. I think this qoute from the The Libertarian National Party website sums it up best:

"Libertarians believe the answer to America's political problems is the same commitment to freedom that earned America its greatness: a free-market economy and the abundance and prosperity it brings; a dedication to civil liberties and personal freedom that marks this country above all others; and a foreign policy of non-intervention, peace, and free trade as prescribed by America's founders."

And just so there are no hard feelings about the Red Sox comment, I will conceed the point that the '04 Red Sox were indeed the greatest comeback in sports history. I couln't help taking a stab because that is actually very painful for me. I am a life long and die-hard St Louis Cardinals fan, you see. I was actually there in the bleachers of Bush Stadium for game 4 of the '04 Series. I stood and watched as the Red Sox celebrated on my field, so I hope you can forgive.

A photo I took of the Sox celebrating

Bovey:

No problem. As a lifelong die-hard Sox fan, believe me, I know all about pain. And the Sox owed the Cards payback for '47 and '68.

Cool pic, btw. As I have never been married and have no kids, I have to say that 10/27/04 was one of the best days of my life so far.

And as for the ideals you posted just above - yeah, it sounds great, but every argument I've ever heard from Libertarians about how to reach those ideals has been so impractical and riddled with holes that it's laughable.

Hey, all pokes and shots aside...I am pretty sure there are LABELS on both of those scrips that warn you not to drive while taking them. Any BPD patient worth his/her salt should know that drugs do funny things to your ability to function.

Not surprised by the incident...But I am definitely pissed that he was given a ride home. I can't see that happening out here in the real world.

DUMBASS!

I can't believe all the free passes you guys are giving on this Ambien shiat. Booze has had the exact same effect on me. Not getting into a car or anything but walking around, doing and saying crazy shiat. No one would leap to my defence if it caused me to get into a car and slide into a family of six.

Anyway, the real issue is how he was treated or shall I say sucked off by the cops.

I wonder if the folks who posted "innocent until proven guilty" over and over again in the Limbaugh/drug threads will post something similar here.

Ummm, did Limbaugh come out and publicly admit to violating the law? Because that's what Kennedy did in the article. He admitted that he took drugs that affected his ability to drive, and then drove.

FTFA: Kennedy said he had taken sleep medication and a prescription anti-nausea drug that can cause drowsiness.

Man, I guess he really should have gone to even a crappy fourth tier law school. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

2006-05-05 02:43:17 AM
TEDDY KENNEDY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS.

One of his sperm is certainly implicated. I guess it would take a paternity test to tell for sure. Well, not really. Looks like the Kennedy line did "breed true".

2006-05-05 02:46:59 AM
He was on prescribed meds. As other people have said, it was probably the Ambien talking. These things happen.

Dude, you can be arrested, and convicted of driving under the influence of drugs regardless of if you obtained the drugs legally or not, or if you took the prescribed dosage or not. If you are chemically impared, the status of the drug in question is irrelevant. And Kennedy apparently came out and ADMITTED that he was wasted on Ambien and Phenergan. They REALLY should have run that statement through in-house counsel first.
