fiskey65: why is it that 90% of the people who post here predicate their response based on the accused's political party.

Hey, you tell us. We're not the ones complaining about Drug-Rush Limbaugh in a drunk Kennedy thread.

"2nd of all, who are these Farking idiots in Rhode Island voting for this guy six times? The guy is a diagnosed bi-polar who has spent time in drug rehab. Now, I don't blame him for having a mental disorder, but seriously, there is no one more qualified, and hopefully more mentally stable that the voters could choose from? Sitting on the House Appropriations Committee means that he is involved in making very significant decisions that affect my life, and the life of all Americans. I am not comfortable having someone like this making those decisions, and I blame the RI voters who voted for him."

I agree with you 100%. But, it's all about the pork. The Kennedys can bring home the bacon to their constituents with goverment contracts, etc.

i'll try to break it down for you. kennedy is a democrat. limbaugh is a republican. both have recently been accused of crimes involving substance abuse. the people commenting are basing their statements on whether or not the individual involved happens to align with their political beliefs.

i.e.

if he is a dem i'll post a supportive statement. if he is a republican i'll bash him and vice versa

There are very clear warnings that you are not to drive or use heavy machinery while taking that crap. It's right in the commerical, I'm sure it's on the bottle and he was most likely warned by his doctor and pharmacist. To me that's as bad as driving drunk and for the rest of us, it's illegal. It's a DUI just like being drunk. So these things don't "just happen" unless your a total moron.

And in your heartfelt defence of this goon you didn't mention the completly blatent preferential, borderline corrupt behavior of the cops in not testing him, not taking him in and letting him go.

Wouldn't it be beautiful if real life always operated like that? But it doesn't. Sometimes, shiat happens, right? So he's got a problem that he needs to take care of. Is that heartfelt? Sure, I wish him the best. Same for Rush.

Lets review the part where he was elected to the Rhode Island State Assembly at age 21. 21! I would make a comment that most of us were drinking and maybe doing drugs at that age, but so was he. He got his ticket to the US House stamped at age 27! Wouldn't it be nice to just wake up one day and find out youre a Kennedy. You get a yacht, a mansion, automatic membership in Congress. Rhode Island just lost a lot of my respect.

I don't know what's more annoying, the reactionary knee jerk defense of this guy because he's a Kennedy, or the smarmy distracting asshats who think posting Ted Kennedy photoshops is more important than a discourse on ending the problem of political priviledge once and for all.

Nothing'll inspire apathy like turning into a Red vs. Blue. G'job, almost everyone.

Amen to that. My main gripe here isn't that this Farktard was driving around while completely smashed out of his mind (regardless of what he was on, I don't think you can argue that). My gripe is with the Cops (who not only didn't give him a slap on the wrist, but actually tossed his salad on the way home), and with the people who elect someone like this to high public office.

Bovey:
Yes, a belief in limited government and personal liberty is clearly a sign of insanity.

The combination of tough-talking rhetoric and pie-in-sky idealism has to be a sign of some sort of serious cognitive dissonance.

Things that aren't cool:

- Bringing Teddy into this
- Attacking Kennedy if you didn't say the same things about Rush and Cheney.

Things that are:

- Being disgusted that Congressmen get special treatment from the cops. I been pulled over for a DUI. Cops don't fark around with that stuff. Prescription drugs, alchohol, whatever, Kennedy should have been in the back of a patrol car and wrapping his lips around a brethalyzer shortly there after.

/and belive it or not, I'm a Democrat

Apparently, when Congress is in session, congressmen can get away with anything but a felony or treason. What does the Smoking Gun say about that one?

Things that aren't cool:

- Attempting to score political points against Arnold Schwarzenegger by mentioning that his dad was forced to join the Nazi party before WW2 or risk going to jail - cause that also has SO MUCH to do with Arnold's ability to function as governor ... what his dad did ... 50 years ago.

Yeah this Ambien thing has been all over the papers lately. Like from this NYT article: "A registered nurse who lives outside Denver took Ambien before going to sleep one night in January 2003. Sometime later - she says she remembers none of the episode - she got into her car wearing only a thin nightshirt in 20-degree weather, had a fender bender, urinated in the middle of an intersection, then became violent with police officers, according to her lawyer."

Oops!

This reminds me of an incident at work. I was there late at night (about 9 pm). There was a parked car on the far end of the parking lot, with the door open. I went over to the car to see what was going on.

One of my co-workers was there, looking in bad shape. He'd been out for a while with the flu. Anyway, when I asked him if he was OK, he told me he had just arrived for work. He wondered why it was so dark at 9:00. I told him it was 9 pm, not 9 am.

He was suddenly embarrassed, and asked me not to tell anyone about it. So of course I now post it here, with no names.

Ahhhhhh, I checked your profile and found the following quotes, it all makes sense now:

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it's whether we provide enough for those who have little."

"We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few. But we can not have both."

You don't like Libertarians because you are a Farking Communist. This makes it much easier to dismiss whatever crap you have to spew.

Please read the relevant portion of the Constitution:
be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same;

This does not mean "immunity" as you claim; it means he cannot be arrested on the floor of the House nor on the way to or from a vote. Hence his claim to be heading in for a vote -- at 3 a.m. Riiiiggghht. I believe in the tooth fairy, too.

Guess what, I don't care if he was drunk. In fact, I hope that he was getting blown by an intern while he was driving drunk.

I'll still vote democratic in the next election.
Democrats drive drunk.
Republicans start wars on false pretenses.

The one causes a car wreck, the other a train wreck.

Oh, but I am sure that the right wing spin machine will just make the biggest moral outrage of the century.

And I thought that only the "libs" were the moral relativists!

WTF does that have to do with anything? Arnold's inability to function as governor has been pretty well established by now.
