Anyway, soccer is great for parents who don't want their precious spawn to ever experience failure. A kid running around on a soccer field can never do anything embarassing when the game is on the line. But consider baseball, football, and basketball, these games are full of "individual moments" where the "individual" can either win or lose the game. No liberal parent would ever allow their child to be in a situation in which they are labled by their peers as the "twit who lost the big game." Soccer, the game where everyone wins, becase nobody fails.

Poor conservatives. Under constant assault from communists, socialists, satanists, wiccans, gays, vegetarians, globalists, feminists, environmentalists, civil rights activists, animal rights activists, gun control activists gays, pagans, foreigners, fluoridation, (I forget anything?) and NOW soccer! I hope you're kidding Hoosier. Soccer is the sport where members of South American world cup teams "vanish" if they screw up. The most famous athelete in the world is Pele, I would say he managed to win a hell of a lot of games. Soccer has even more opportunities for a single good player to dominate than baseball, by far. I would say it was about equal with football in that regard. In other words, yes you can look like a hero or an idiot if you're playing soccer...and if you think otherwise, you should go watch NASCAR and leave the the rest of us alone to watch real sports.

And if you think kids soccer is a "no-loser" sport, you should take a look at all the softball/tee-ball leagues out there. Some of them don't even keep score.

I the late 70's when I was Elementary school I remember the teachers telling us that the Metric system was being phased in and was going to be the standard by the 80's.Well not to be very quick on the uptake I guess it's not going to happen now.
