Little story for you. I work with a bunch of immigrants. Legal ones. They go through tons to get and keep that legal status. I'm the only one who was born in the United States.

One time, while we were out to lunch, I made a comment that I wished our public education system put as much effort into teaching a foreign language as their home countries did. They all looked at me funny and one said, "Why? You already know English."

Another time there was five of us in a car and one of them brought up these protests. He goes, "Yeah, they think the illegal immigrants should have the same rights as the legal ones." Everyone in the car, all first generation legal immigrants, cracked up laughing.

The talking heads on TV have stated that the logistics of moving 20+ million (or whatver the number is) illegals back to Mexico would be simply impossible. I've heard someone quote it would take a line of buses that stretches from California to Alaska to move that many people. But I have an argument for that statement. If the Germans could round up almost every Jew in Europe (a comparable number) and deport them to the "camps" in less than a decade, while in the middle of a war. Then why, 60 years later can the most powerful nation in the world, not do the same thing with our illegal immigrants only slightly more humanely (this is where the 60 years of technology comes in)?

For all of those who think that illegal aliens just pick strawberries, ask anybody in the construction industry. Lower class residents in the Katrina disaster area have also had very difficult times finding jobs in the cleanup because illegal aliens immediately came into the area and undercut the job market. When are the illegals going to protest by:

1) staying out of the emergency rooms

Really, are they that much of a drain? Moreso than youre average American not paying their bill?

You're right -- that was bad form. My apologies.

But I do believe that there is are valid arguments to be made for requiring visas of prospective immigrants. It gives the government a way to screen who is admitted and to keep immigration at levels that are optimal for the economy (and beneficial to all parties involved). This isn't totally arbitrary either, though clearly it's less important than some of the other issues I mentioned.

Illegal immigrants should have no expectations and they should have no rights either.

SchlingFo: Additionally, the INS can't just go up to someone and demand that the person prove their citizenship. For the time being, in America, you do not have to comply with a "papers please, citizen" request.

1) it's the BCIS, not the INS. there is no INS anymore.

2) Border Guard do that all the time on buses in SoCal. The "papers please" routine has been around for a few years now... wake up.

Shove the straw-man up your arse. This country has stood for capitalism for as long as anyone alive can remember. Thus, if you don't pay taxes, you don't matter -- garbage in, garbage out, so to speak.

Illegals suck the life out of this country and send the rewards home. A vast majority of Mexico's GDP is sustained by illegal workers here in the States. That's essentially theft on a national level. I don't know about you, but I don't look kindly on thieves.

Currently, our country stands for:

Allowing people to sneak in at 3am, bypass our borders and laws and demand free goods and services, march in the streets and demand to become citizens because you successfuly broke the law and weren't deported year after year, you'd never be able to get away with this shiat if you were back in your home country, as they routinely arrest, beat the crap out of and deport illegals that come into Mexico from their southern border - and inside the US, we have people who are apologists for illegals and attempt to use the race card when anyone dares to speak up against the flagrant violation of our country, our laws and our way of life ... and it a crying shame that some in our country defend this shame of a movement.
