Quinn was placed in a police cruiser that night but because of a missing pinky finger on his right hand he was able to slip out of the handcuffs and escape. He sped away in a police cruiser with police in pursuit.

Assuming the arresting officer had the foggiest notion of how to fit handcuffs, that pinky finger would have had to be missing up to the wrist.

How concealed carry applies inside your own home boggles the mind.

Ohhh.... submitter was just trying to spread this incident all over the landscape. How silly.

I worked for a woman that had a concealed carry here in Arizona. Maybe one of the scariest, manic-depressive bull-dyke lesbians the world has ever known.

In other words, the person you'd most want carrying a loaded weapon in public.

When Mills tried to rob the woman, she pulled out a gun and shot Mills in the leg.

The only fault with this was that she was low and to the left.

This should have had the "Hero" tag.

Too bad it was a hand gun and not a shot gun.

Actually, she should have shot him in the head and killed him. The reason being is that with him being dead, that's it, story over. With him just being wounded, what's to stop him from getting a lawyer and suing over injuries, and sadly, in this country, there would be countless lawyers willing to take the case, and probably a jury dumb enough to award him damages for getting hurt on her property, reguardless of the fact that he was there for the sole reason to rob her.

I don't think it would take much to convince a jury that the house the man used a crowbar on to break and enter wasn't his. Not to mention that the house that she was defending is owned by her. So I think your arguement of "Her word against his" breaks down quite a bit.

You'd think that because the breaking into a house illegally he wouldn't be allowed to sue, but I promise you lawyers have already solicited the guy promising him he'll own the house when it's over.

My brother's taurus was smacked in the side by a dump truck about a month ago. he was hit so hard he bounced into oncoming traffic and hit a tow truck. Miraculously he walked away unharmed. a week later he got an envelope that contained the accident report, it was from a lawyer promising money for his injuries. The accident report that he sent us clearly states no one was injured. I'm sure if my brother took him up on the offer he would have been refered to a doctor who could diagnose some injuries. Ambulance chasing scumbag but i'm sure he makes good living.

call it the Legal System, you can't call it the justice system because it has nothing to do with justice.

insurance is paying off $7000 on the car, double what it was actually worth. His ex picked out the car but he kept it because he made the payments, but he always hated the car so He's happy

Which sounds fine - except that homeowners DO get sued - and even if they win they're out a bunch of money - no free lawyers for THEM, and no money from the (not-rich) burgler to pay costs, either.

At least most places in the US they don't arrest the homeowner in this situation - I understand that's no longer the case in Great Britain.

Just remember guys, you have to shout "Ned, he's comin' right for us!!!" before you shoot.

I was drunk and confused and trying to escape when she shot me. There was no imminent threat to life. Throw self-defense out the window and prosecute for attempted murder.

Not to mention the civil suit for diminished quality of life (or whatever else they can make up these days).

"Boom goes the irony" probably refers to the gun itself, not actual irony.

Because there is no actual IRONY in the headline or the story.

What the fark does shooting someone breaking into your house and having a conceal-carry permit have to do with one another. i don't have a c-c permit, but as god as my witness, that doesn't stop me from wearing a holstered pistol under my frock while i make breakfast. it's my god given right as an american citizen.

Except that after breaking in the guy took a sword off the wall and used it to attempt to rob three people, all of whom can testify as victims. Only the dumbest or most corrupt jury imaginable would agree with the defense theory you are suggesting.

A couple months ago I heard an L.A. police officer say that gang members were 'street terrorists'.

Please... You cheapen the term 'terrorist' when you use it to refer to any person that can cause fear in one.

I'm watching the news, and like,
''Tupac Shakur was assassinated
''Biggie Smalls, assassinated.
Struck down by assassin's bullets.''

l'm like, ''No, they wasn't!''

Martin Luther King was assassinated. Malcolm X was assassinated. John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Them two attractive and successful African-Americans got shot.

Obviously you either a: never read/watch the news, as injured felons suing (and winning) their would be victims is fairly common. Or b: have never consulted a peace officer on proper etiquette when defending your property. EVERY single officer I have ever discussed this with will advise you (unofficially, of course) to kill the perp.

I personally know of a case where a store owner wounded a would be robber. When the cops got there, they said they'd be back in 5 minutes, and that the perp needed to stop breathing before they came back, otherwise he'd be looking at assault charges...

I'm wondering too. I thought a c-c permit was for carrying a hand gun when you're in public. At home I can carry my 9mm Glock up my ass when ever I want. I can even shower with it.

Conceal carry means nothing in the home.

Personal injury bashing, you say? COunt me in.

ABout 10 years ago when I was a young resident, we had a trauma patient come in from a car crash. It was pretty normal for these people to be on "back boards" and wearing "Philadephia collars" (those pink collars you see people wearing after a neck injury)

I was getting ready to put the breathing tube in and had unfastened the front of the collar and all these business cards went everywhere. Somewhat at the scene of the accident (maybe even an EMT)had shoved this lawyers business cards under the guys collar.

To this day, I wish that I had complained to the bar or told the patient about it. It would have been great if the guy had sued the lawyer for hurting his neck after the car wreck, but I was tired and had a lot of work to do and when you're that covered up, it seemed like a pretty low priority thing at the time - Maybe those "Grey's Anatomy" residents have unlimited goof off time, but we didn't.

The crime of "terroristic threats" is not related to "terrorism":

I know this isn't from the same state, but it's applicable anyways.

Hey there was that case when a robber fell through a skylight trying to break into a house. Broke his back, sued and won for a few mill because the homeowner didn't properly install a skylight to support the weight of someone on top of it trying to enter.
