I was bullied in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I got over it. Never had to resort to killing people. I did do ALOT of drugs in high school, though. Quit doing them completely once I got to be in my 20's and grew up. Self-administered therapy?

Why does everyone NEED online friends?

In my day we just loaded up a gym sock full of bar soap and got a gunny sack ( this was before onions were stylish by the way) and waited for a "bully" to come around a corner , sack'em and rack'em and run him up a flag pole. This tended to inspire an attitude adjustment.

"A lot of people just talked about it," she said. "But there wasn't much reaction."

Oh! Just add insult to their injury! Not only were these kids not popular and bullied, they are now also insignificant jailbirds. I certainly was one of the unpopular, computer geeks in high school, but I would never have advocated or supported such a thing.

In the future, the school bullies should be armed so they can defend themselves from the armed bullied kids who have become deranged from constant bullying...

Mr. Clarence Butterworth

Then what is it you feel you can add to the conversation?

Because I'm not such an utterly worthless tool as you yourself are, sir.

computer buffs who like violent video games = 90% of 10 to 30 year olds in the country...

Mr. Clarence Butterworth seems cranky. That last post was just joshing about, but I realized in my mental postscript you might not take it that way.

My anecdote was completely topical in a discussion regarding MySpace. Whomever pissed in your cheerios, it wasn't I. Troll on, buddy.

The students learn real quick that the only way they're going to get any relief from the tormenting is by handling it themselves.

Sure. They planned it for a year. You mean in a whole year none of these five people dared to throw a punch? Not once? Better to plot a massacre than stand up for yourself.

And speaking of ass on myspace, I want me a piece of that Tila Tequila ass.

Yeah, I got picked on in school. And it sucks: every day, show up somewhere you *know* is going to cause you pain. I can easily see how situations like this would happen.

Fortunately for the inbred yokels I went to school with, I managed to find a way to attend a different high school, and I never got my hands on a serious weapon.

/My fantasies didn't involve guns, though.
//Usually hand grenades and a battleaxe.

Stinky93: Sure. They planned it for a year. You mean in a whole year none of these five people dared to throw a punch? Not once?

Maybe they did. Maybe they got their asses handed to them because they were doughy geeks.

Maybe they didn't.

I don't know.

All I know is that everyone has a breaking point. Over time, we learn to remove ourselves from a situation before we hit that breaking point. Otherwise, very bad things tend to happen.

These kids were unable to remove themselves from their situation.

You take a hormone-riddled kid whose brain isn't geared towards rational thought, keep applying pressure over the course of god knows how many years in the form of bullying and tormenting, and you're going to reach critical level at some point.

I'd believe it.

Think about it--do school administrators just give detention to the instigator of a fight? Hell no. "Both of you were fighting, so both of you get detention", and the bullied kid's mom gives him holy hell for having gotten detention, etc.

Eventually, it becomes less pain to deal with getting beat on than to have to sit through Yet Another Lecture.

In addition, some parents are perfectly capable of brainwashing their kids into this mindset--and the mindset where you have to be Completely Obedient To Your Parents.

Seen it happen. Been there. Moved the hell out first chance I got.

I was carrying on about the emo kid thingie above: I generally hit 7 of the emo kid criteria on any given day:

too small sweater
vintage t-shirts
interesting socks
clunky shoes
keychain
geeky glasses
dark denim jeans

My husband ever so graciously pointed out that I was "whining like an emo kid, too". He's eversohelpful.

P.S. I keep my deep reads and vinyl at home. I'm not a stupident anymore, sheesh.

Oh man what a mess it was. I think you had to be a retarted rhesus monkey on weed to understand what the heck was going on.

That being my first impression, I think I shall stay away from myspace forever more.

Possible interpretations:

1. Law enforcement reading his MySpace page without a warrant constitutes an illegal internet wiretap. How dare they!

2. MySpace causes kids to go violent and kill people. Like bowling.

I concur.

What'd be nice is if school administration required brains, and the brains were actually used, instead of these asinine zero-tolerance-zero-thinking policies.

When *did* these zero-tolerance-zero-thinking policies come into existence, anyway? Is there any evidence that they've worsened the problem that they were meant to solve?

Bleargh
The article doesn't say but depending on the type of guns found it was probably illegal for the kids to possess them anyway. I don't think anyone would defend kids possessing illegal firearms or even legal firearms when not under proper supervision. Are you suggesting all firearms be illegal because sometimes people obtain them ILLEGALLY and commit crimes? ahhhh Eutopia....no more guns equals no more bad people and no more crime.....hoooray!

School administrators are brain dead idiots. Violence is never the best course of action, but school administration won't do anything for you, so you have to take matters into your own hands.

Be constructive, not destructive.

SchlingFo:

Perfect. You'll get a lot of flames from the people who bullied kids in high school saying that the victims should just "MAN UP" and deal with their problems; the fact is, being a teenager is difficult enough with your body chemistry making you a greasy little farkhead that you don't need crap from "the popular crowd."

The only good thing (and I mean the ONLY) I can say about this new emo nonsense girl pants bullshiat is the fact that it's creating an off shoot popular group where the sissies aren't made fun of for being sissies. The popular crowd largely consists of these emo kids now because there are so many of them, that it prevents altercations like school shootings. The problem now is actually with the kids themselves, and how they are taught to handle things.

Don't take this the wrong way; I love video games. I LOVE them, violent, sex filled, drug abusing, video game characters... ok with me. The fact is that kids this age with hormones raging SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PLAY THEM. Call it censorship, call it whatever, but these kids are emotionally disturbed and running around as Carl Johnson for 6 hours a day shooting old ladies and ripping up people with a chainsaw after they were just bullied all day makes you want to hurt someone.

So, I guess my point is that the blame probably lies with the parents for all of this crap. Monitor what your children play, listen to, say, and their internet access. It's your farking job, you lazy pieces of shiat, not the internet companies or the game stores.

AKA Joker: You make an excellent point here. What do you think should be done to curb bullying?

You didn't ask me, but:

Curb the culture of petty lawsuits over perceived slights.
Give school administrators the right to enforce discipline.
Select qualified administrators--perhaps even have a certification.
Punish the parents of students who choose to cause difficulties.

Or, I dunno...actually have parents who *parent*. But that's never going to happen.

cant say i have much experience around that part, but from what i hear on the news and such, 59 is a real hassle. i can imagine what its like around 610, 45, and the beltway. those places seem to be always under construction.

The French teacher at my high school got censured because he told his students shortly after the Columbine shootings that if anyone ever felt really, really, angry, that fighting was a far better solution than bottling up your rage until shooting up the school seems like a good idea...Man had a point. Actually I was asking SchlingFo but your suggestions seem valid (if a little impossible). What do you think about alternate schooling for problem children? I believe children that bully lack structure and social tolerance. Both of these can be given to them but not in a public school environment. Thoughts?

2006-04-21 02:17:25 PM
That was hilarious greaser!!!!

Btw infantry they are expanding I-10 west to at least 6-8 lanes. I dont know how far into Katy but at least to Hwy 6.

1)Boys getting bullied in school gets little attention. Most goes to teen girls and their issues.
2)Pity the poor teen brain that cannot see beyond the very limited time in high school. There are millions of miserables swallowing the same poison. Your pain while seemingly unique, is in fact, common. Hang in and you too will be free of school to enjoy further misery in the working world.

mvfreeman

yeah but out of those 6-8 lanes, i think like there will be 2 hov lanes, 2 toll road lanes, and 4 normal lanes on each side?? it extends passed highway 6 into old katy. i live over by mason road and i know that they are almost done with that section. they just need to make 8 lanes on each side, no hov, no toll, just straight up lanes.
