ok, what is an emo teenager?

A really depressed kid who always wears his/her hair over one eye and talks about getting together and sharing their feelings with one another. Emo is short for emotion. They also listen to music where the singer is always off-key because it's more natural or some thing...

The First Why is it that majority of all news-items is one way or another related to MySpace.com??

I couldn't tell if you were being serious or there's a soaking wet towel of sarcasm wrapped around your post.. but here's your answer: Rupert Murdoch's Myspace Page

2006-04-21 12:15:46 PM
I'm thinking the kid that let the info out was getting cold feet. Its gotta be tough to convince and retain five kids to pull something like that off.

So they are being charged with talking smack on myspace?
Foiled plot? maybe...maybe not. If every group of kids who discussed shooting up or burning down the school were charged we would need to build many many more juvenile facilities.

This place is about 40 miles from where I grew up. Somehow, I'm not surprised to see this.

It also explains why I got the hell out as soon as I could, back before the whackjobs took over.

Teh Winnar!

Finally. Someone heard dumbass kids shooting their mouth off, and busted them before they got a chance to pile up yet another body count. Gives me somewhat of a ray of hope...

2006-04-21 12:17:06 PM
Oh ya, mods. That translates into:

repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat repeat

2006-04-21 12:18:40 PM
And they would have gotten away with it, too.

If it weren't for those meddling cops!

/Who do those cops think they are, anyway?!

Why did this get the "stupid" tag? This is either cool or spiffy. We shouldn't giggle about the stupidity of the student for posting it online but rather celebrate the fact that children's lives weren't senselessly cut short today.

you have a point. when i was in 2nd grade i used to sing "dec' the halls" [with gasoline] song.

but these kids actually had guns in their rooms and had a means to execute their so-called plan.

I don't think emo and violence go hand in hand..

Not as much as Kansas and Stupid do anyway..

......I just realized something.

Myspace could be a brilliant plot by the government: encourage people to enter a setting where they spill all sorts of personal information.

Then just monitor this speace, where people are voluntarily giving up their right to privacy.

It's sheer genius.

/I only use Reynold's Brand aluminum foil to keep out the government rays! Nothing else works better!

more guns please....

LEADER They're going to be charged with attempted murder, most likely. They, after all, did have firearms and stuff.

Someone post the 'I'm going to go listen to Linkin Park' kid.

Everytime I hear the phrase Emo kid, I head off to Urban Dictionary's definition. Those kids sure are funny.

By the way, I am listening to the Smiths right now. I am human and I need to be loved...

Can't we do both?

2006-04-21 12:27:24 PM
After RTFA, I'd have to go ahead and say a few of those kids deserve to be shot.

Barbara Gibson, a 17-year-old junior at the high school, said her classmates didn't seem too bothered by the threat.

"A lot of people just talked about it," she said. "But there wasn't much reaction."

Not much reaction? If one of the kids hadn't slipped up and bragged about it to some lady on myspace, you'd be dead right now you farking idiot, along with the rest of your nonchalant buddies.

As bad as these emotional crybabies with guns are these days, sometimes I wish they get away with a few more of these so people like Barbara here would learn not to be such a biatch.

I spend $40/month for a cable modem and what do my two daughters do on the computer? Spend every minute they can on myspace and AIM. Of all the cool stuff you can find on the internet they're interested in none of it.

It would be nice if for once they could stop the never ending quest for popularity and grow a friggin' brain.

Nice to know that the law is monitoring the little cretins and the older perverts.

I am sure your dad had a gas can and matches or a lighter around the house when you were a kid so you had the means also...go to jail. Is there anyone in Kansas that doesn't have guns in their room?

AngryTeacher, "How Soon is Now" is the national anthem of the "Angsty States of Emo".

Talking about it is one thing.
Talking about it in extreme detail (disabling the security camers, etc), and collecting all the armament, and planning a particular day is quite another.

Or should we wait until they actually start shooting?

2006-04-21 12:38:07 PM
OK, so what's the difference between goth, emo and fag?

Teenagers can be pretty stupid about keeping secrets. The Columbine Kids did pretty much the same thing as far as letting people know, but all the signals were missed.

"Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead."

Anyone that thinks that MySpace *isn't* being monitored by the govt is totally naiive.

I realize Farkers like to bash MySPace, but this time MySpace isn't the problem. If it didn't exist then these kids would have carried out their plan. Yes I realize someone had to be monitoring MySpace, TheSignPost, but without it or something like it a bunch of kids could have died.

Bragging about it online sounds kinda like leaving a bunch of suicide notes, so someone finds you before you off yourself.

/people who fail at suicide are the true losers

Merltech - don't forget port blocking, too.

This is what happens when you create an environment where school officials are afraid to do anything about bullying. Give them some teeth, make it a crime or a fine-able offense. Doing nothing tells the victims that nobody cares about them or their situation and that the only way something is going to be done is if they do it themselves. I'm not saying I condone what these kids tried to do, but I can understand the thought process that lead them to think this was the only way.

But then, this is America. Just ignore the cause of the problem, label them as monsters and weirdos who play violent video games and listen to Marily Manson. He was right in Bowling for Columbine, we'd get closer to figuring out why things like this happen if we just talked to the kids about why they did it/were going to do it.

2006-04-21 12:45:20 PM
My 17 year old cousin has a myspace account. His friends leave comments like "I love drunk IMs from you at 4am." It's like there's an entire generation who thinks that older people can't use google.

Sorry! An unexpected school shooting has occured!

2006-04-21 12:45:51 PM
In order to use MySpace is it a requirement that you prove your IQ is below a certain level or that you're a child molester? I can't seem to find any other uses for it.

2006-04-21 12:46:31 PM
john_frink: STOP PAYING $40 TO ENABLE THEIR HABIT

Or they could use the parental block features that come standard with AOL, Netscape, etc..... That way the parents can still look at pron.
