Nice headline.

MoriyaMug: Nice headline.

Nothing will ever beat the one about the official Budweiser horse that fell into a septic tank for three hours and had to be renamed Coors Light

Now if they can just increase the capacity to 16oz and fill it with Guinness.

2wolves: Ice cold Guinness is a sin.

I don't care how those godless socialist british drink it. I like it COLD, and I like a constant supply of it.

Even Guinness Brewing Company has lowered the serving temperature, so they obviously agree with me.

The only reason to chill a beer that much is to numb one's taste buds and render the piss drinkable.

2006-04-20 02:55:26 PM
Sheesh... A lot of Miller Lite bashing today.

Since you all mention Guiness, at the RFD bar in D.C. tonight there is a free guiness party.

Agreed. I drink Bud Light ice cold when I'm drinking a lot at a party or something, but give me a room temperature Grolsh when I'm sitting at home enjoying a couple. And I bet the price isn't much different between a super can and a big bottle of Grolsh.

2wolves

It says serve cold right on the can or bottle.

I've frozen beer that way... Hard to judge the amount of salt.

This technology has been around for a couple of years:

Yeah, God forbid that Americans might have to actually taste what they're drinking...

By the way, 22 gallons per year? Lightweights.

/That's not even one per day

In the UK a few years back , they had two Guinness taps. Normal and "Extra Cold" (with a logo and everything). So there a lot of Guinness drinkers that like it cold. Me? Cold is better, but I do room temperature.

People, people can't we all just get along?!? He likes mass market beer, she likes microbrews. We all like beer. I'll drink 15 Millers at a party, or down a few Dogfish Head IPA's in the comfort of my chair. Either way, I'm happy. And like it or not, we are all beer lovers!

So put down the bottle everyone! Let us all join together. Stand up and mock those who drink winecoolers!!!

I'm all for mocking wine-coolers, but I draw the line at drinking with "men" who drink Bud Light.

Not room temp but sure as thick stout is good stuff not ice cold either. If you actually want to taste what you're drinking then very cold is out.

I quick chill my beer using icewater and salt...

/First time I learned something on Mythbusters and able to put it into practice...
//Just have to remember to wash off the beer can
///Don't like my beer with extra salt...

PSA:

quickest way to chill beer is in a Salt, Ice, Water solution. Will have those babies at a perfect temperature in no time (15 minutes or so).

Twice as good as Guiness. Brewed in Oregon.

Cool idea, crap beer. Miller -- invented so Coors drinkers could feel superior. (Coors: It's the water. And not much else.)

kevins37: Since you all mention Guiness, at the RFD bar in D.C. tonight there is a free guiness party.

Depends. Do I finally get my damn Guiness towel if I show up?

2006-04-20 06:34:42 PM
I like my Guinness cool, not cold but not room temp either.

Miller sucks. MGD is quasi-drinkable but since they also make Miller Lite I don't ever drink MGD. Why reward the company for their suckiness?

Anyways, if this is really not environmentally unfriendly it's pretty cool. But I kind of expect it will involve increase waste. And how will they recycle a can with this thingy inside it - won't it be more difficult to recycle? 30 degrees is too farking cold... that's just insane.

2006-04-20 06:35:14 PM
If it says "Lite", it's NOT beer. Mildly flavored seltzer at best.

2006-04-20 06:36:08 PM
just roll the can in ice water, even if the can started at room temp, It'll be ice cold in 60 seconds. Add a handfull of salt for FREEZING beer.

(roll it like a log.)

Simple really.

2006-04-20 06:36:54 PM
The specially modified cans use proprietary engineering to create a temperature drop that will reduce the I.C. Can contents by a minimum of 30° Fahrenheit in just three minutes.

The I.C. Technology is 100% safe non-toxic and environmentally benign, because the whole process is the driven by the simple physics of water evaporation.

I just want a battery powered version to keep in my pocket.

/lives in south florida
//its freaking hot

2006-04-20 06:36:58 PM
Jument: 30 degrees is too farking cold... that's just insane.

From TFA, it lowers the temp by 30 degrees, so if you start at room temp, you're actually hitting somewhere around 38-42 -- or 85, if you're in Phoenix in summer.

2006-04-20 06:37:03 PM
you guys drink beer for the taste?

2006-04-20 06:37:54 PM
And gosh, what a surprise that a Fark Beer thread is logging up the posts faster than I've seen happen in a while. I'll bet this one is at least five away from my last.

2006-04-20 06:38:09 PM
onomatopoetic: that's only because guinness with both n's in it is twice as good on its own...

"I'll drink 15 Millers at a party, or down a few [Deschutes Brewing Co. Mirror Ponds] in the comfort of my chair. Either way, I'm happy."

If someone likes Miller beer, so what. No need to be an assclown about it.
