Extortion didn't work for Dr. Evil, and it won't work for this Chad guy.

Chuckles.

So, am I right to assume gas will jump up another 20 cents next week?

2006-04-15 11:06:09 PM
Who here thinks Iran should go to the store and get us some munchies?

If we were going to be invaded by anyone, I'm glad it would be you.

the Sahel is so fcked up it's not even funny. Anyone here actually grasp the politics behind Darfur?

2006-04-15 11:09:59 PM
Chad only began exporting oil in 2004... and apparently there is an estimated 2 billion barrels of reserves.

They export 225,000 bbl/day (2005 est.).... with 70% of total exports (not just oil, I guess) going to the US, and 20% to China.

/facts are good!

The best part about this is there is actually a guy named Chad in my class. I saw that headline, thought of him and said, "No Chad! They're Dockers!"

2006-04-15 11:10:28 PM
What will the effect of this be on the price of oil?

/sarcasm

Yuppies like to give their children names like Chad

2006-04-15 11:13:05 PM
I filled up last week at $2.64 (Madison, WI) and today I noticed that it was $2.81.

I wonder if it'll beat last year's record of $3.36.

Well, I hardly grasp the politics behind Darfur but I know that recently the Darfur conflict has spilled over into Chad. The Sudan-Chad conflict or "state of belligerance" began late last year... mostly just rebel groups and governments going back and forth accusing each other of evil doings and such.

The coup attempt the other day has happened a few times before... I was expecting them to actually succeed this time.

/whatever

2006-04-15 11:14:05 PM
I'm starting to see a trend with these countries-
"Do it my way or I will fark with your oil supplies."

2006-04-15 11:17:21 PM
Sounds like Deby just wants more cash from the World Bank so he can finance some more weapons to keep the rebels at bay...

Too bad this is just the sort of thing that causes people to overreact, raising the price of oil. Chad is a drop in the bucket yet it'll make a good excuse... /sigh

2006-04-15 11:22:28 PM
who's chad

Perhaps a little imperialistic talk from some of the big kids on the block will pull them back in line... nooo...

/Its never time for imperialism... :(

My old boss, who's pretty good as a regional manager for a gas station company, is expecting higher.

He was cautioning that if something happens with that whole Iran situation, or anything else semi-major for that matter, he expects the squeeze to hit US$3.65-US$3.90 in the Appleton, WI market.

Glad I have a car I can afford to fuel at US$5/gallon. I did just get a newer used bike this spring too, ahh, 47MPG here we are...

Long run, short run, gas is going to spike, probably to record levels.

This just in: U.S. Breaks Off Relations With Chad

"In general, Chad is a good guy. He will help you move, let you borrow his VCR, or whatever. But when he's had a few, you just wish you'd never met him."

Nothing can stop this bath of blood.

-You mean bloodbath.

Thank you, but I prefer it my way.

Not nearly obscure enough.

2006-04-15 11:50:55 PM
This sounds totally reasonable to me. Do what you gotta do to keep your people alive. Nothing is higher priority than that.

They keep saying Chad, but never what type. Is it hanging, dimpled, swinging, pregnent, or what?

YAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!
My energy funds aren't in the stratosphere anymore, they're in the asteroid belt, baby!!!!
So, how's that 10% a year house thing working out as an "investment", folks? Don't forget to mow the lawn and buy a new roof every ten years!!!!
LOL

I hate Chads, and their striped shirts

2006-04-16 01:09:41 AM
Chad is this well hung Florida swinger living as a house guest in Boca Raton.

He does not appreciate the insinuation of the application of suntan oil and the loss of his pants.

That was teh funny.

The curse of the name my mother gave me strikes again.

In school, it was the first day of class, when the teacher would call out "Chadwick" and everyone would turn around and snicker.

During the 2000 election, it was all "Pregnant Chads" and "Dimpled Chads".

Over the past 5+ years, it has come to represent the stereotypical white frat boy.

My name sucks.

What are you cheering about. Most of that money is going to get paid out in kickbacks to politicos and top corporate honchos. If you're lucky you'll see (being nice) a 4%-10% gain overall. That's also assuming you unload at the right time. Meh, my money market does that good and I don't even have to watch it.

The only way to make a killing at the stock market, as an investor, is to be rich enough to play the margins on a large scale. That bars absolutely insane luck of course, but I don't consider the lottery a form of investment either.

Of course if you've got the cash to play the market at those levels, you're doing so for the sake of doing so. Either that or maybe to buy the new Bugatti.

I'm not there myself but still I'm:

I've started adding the souls of the self-righteous to my powerbase as well. I expect to be harvesting more right-wingers soon...

OwnTheRide +1 for the hatred of our name. Chadwick is translated as the dairy farm of a warrior. I mean seriously, why?
The 2000 election was horrible for me too. Oh I'm a dimpled Chad? Yea, you're only the 200th person that's come up with that one...

2006-04-16 02:29:12 AM
All right, both of you. I hereby rename you both, "Sue".

Hey now...

Great headline, submitter. Good to start Easter with a chuckle.

Someone is trying to hold the world randsom for "100 million dollars" and no Dr. Evil referance headline, submitter needs to surrender.

2006-04-16 11:44:11 AM
Just another excuse for the oil corporations to pull the "supply and demand" card and increase prices. When will people learn that supply and demand is a cooked up capitalist phony "spook" used as a tool to raise prices? The real estate industry (in the U.S.)and precious metals industries are using the same technique to scare people into paying higher prices

2006-04-16 12:38:50 PM
Ishidan: All right, both of you. I hereby rename you both, "Sue".

Compared to "Chad", that really doesn't sound so bad at all.

I guess I should count my blessings. If I was born a girl, my mother was going to name me "Denika".

My mother, she's a smart woman, but goddamn is she stupid.

2006-04-16 12:51:45 PM
Nice headline.

2006-04-16 12:56:22 PM
"Nobody move, or the ni... I mean, Chad gets it"

2006-04-16 04:09:38 PM
Ok, can someone explain the headline to me?

/Sorry I'm an idiot
//Spent 10 minutes searching google for references to this Cliche

hillary: Time to dump the cars

Looks sharp, I like the red/tan color scheme...
Out of curiousity, how big is the motor? Mileage? Top speed? Does it have a standard transmission or a CVT?
