The hostage-taker claims to have a sharp object, police said.

LOL.

2006-04-13 03:15:40 PM
they might not've had to toss him in a patrol car, but i bet they still applied some good ole fashioned police brutality.

What kinda moron would take a hostage in a police station?

\\Oh, in Baltimore?
\\\\Never mind

I got a tenspot that says he's going to sue the city for his "maltreatment"...

Baltimore Cops, when actually ALLOWED to do their jobs, are some bad mother-shut your mouth- I'm only talking about Baltimore PD!

/We can dig it.

Not obscure to me.

What was it that finally sent him over the edge? Wasn't Lewis chucking french fries at him or something? Heh..

I got it too. Maybe it was Munch and his conspiracty theories, altough didn't Bolander get shot in that episode?

2006-04-13 03:37:32 PM
That was like season 6 I think. Bolander left between season 3 and 4 along with Felton.

If he escapes there's a movie deal in it for him.

/which he can watch from prison

Actually Junior Bunk stopped being a wuss from the season opener. He tried to assasinate Lewis (being a sniper on the motorcyle) in the opener..

It was Junior Bunk taking advantage of the officer putting his gun into the drawer which led to junior wasting a few cops and taking control of the station.. Which Tom Fontana lifted from a real life incident.

//Sigh, in 1998, not only was Homicide still on TV but so too was OZ

"Bop Gun" is the finest hour of TV I have ever seen

2006-04-13 04:07:23 PM
I'm pretty sure "Bop Gun" was the one where Robin Williams' wife gets shot and he spends the whole episode weeping. Nonetheless, good stuff.

How about a baltimore tag? It can apply to any senseless or just plain stupid act of violence...

I recall a Straight Dope column referring to Baltimore as "the city from another dimension." That really does sum it up.

I hate BWI. Most idiotic airport.

/evar.

phrenic

BWI isn't that bad. Surprisingly, the security screenings at BWI are almost always fast and painless. Parking ain't bad, either.

(Better than ATL by a tram ride and a five-mile hike, that's for sure.)

2006-04-13 04:34:44 PM
Homicide LOTS was the best thing on TV, right up until the last season with all the pretty faces.

/Ran into Luther Mahoney (Jon-Erik Dellums) in a music store in DC.

Is Col. Barnfather okay?

I got to meet Barnfather (well, the actor who played him) through my job. I gave him my condolences on being killed in Season One of "The Wire." It was one of the pleasant surprises of my job.

I love HLOTS and The Wire more than I love handbags.

2006-04-13 04:40:57 PM
I've been to about 16 airports I can think of, and BWI is by far my favorite. It's clean, relatively pleasant, the security lines are typically very fast (for Southwest anyway), and driving and parking there could not be any easier (or cheaper).

/BWI, LaGuardia, JFK, Islip, Newark, Logan, Rochester, Buffalo, St. Louis, Little Rock, Dallas, Charlotte, Reagan, De Gaulle, Rome, Venice... I think that's it.

2006-04-13 04:43:03 PM
Ooh, don't forget Dulles. Dulles sucks great, big, hairy rocks.

2006-04-13 04:45:55 PM
Well my beef with BWI is getting a rental car. Coming out of the gate, you have to walk about a mile to get downstairs to the buses. Then drive for about 10 miles to the rental car place. Can't smoke in there either. That is becoming all to common in US airports.

It is definitely a clean airport -- definitely not complaining about that.

I don't see how you can have a favorite airport. They are all bad. :) That is, if you have to travel for a living. I'd have to say my LEAST favorite is the shiathole labeled SDF (Louisville).

2006-04-13 04:47:29 PM
National kicks BWI's ass -- provided you're using public transportation. Especially if you fly NorthWest, because they have the old wing and their own security checkpoint, so it's quick. They'll even let you use the bathroom on the planes now.

2006-04-13 04:51:04 PM
Yeah, DCA kicks ass if you can use the Metro to get there. Otherwise, it's an utter nightmare.

2006-04-13 04:51:36 PM
Lot of Baltimore farkers out there.

2006-04-13 04:52:09 PM
Ok.. BWI is the one I hate the least :P

As for rental cars.... I live in Baltimore, so I don't have much experience with that.

2006-04-13 04:52:43 PM
MsStressa: provided you're using public transportation.

the key point that airport blows otherwise.

2006-04-13 04:57:50 PM
Oh, and before someone looks at my profile and says "you forgot the Bermuda airport," it was a cruise.

/yeah, like that's going to happen

Yay MsStressa and everyone else with "Homicide" connex.

While walking the dog on Thames St. once, I got Toni Lewis's (Terri Stiver) autograph for my husband.

You guys talking about The Thurgood? I love The Thurgood. No other airport I know of is SO easy to pick people up or drop them off, it has a cell phone lot (where you can wait to get a call to pick some one up) AND first hour of parking free. DCA might be awesome except nobody I know flies out of there, and it is named something vile (which I won't utter), unlike The Thurgood.

/lives 6 miles from BWI

2006-04-13 07:56:04 PM
The alleged perp was heard to exclaim "I'm walking up outta here! You hear me?" before being shot several times by police detectives. He was sent to County General Hospital in Chicago for treatment, where he is now a doctor.

/Saw a rerun of Law & Order: Criminal Intent with Clayton LeBouef (Barnfather) guesting as a detective. It amused me.

2006-04-13 07:58:30 PM
Wow.

The first Fark link I've seen that originated less than 5 miles from my house.

/'cause it's all about ME!

Never take a "sharp object" to a gunfight.
/How many cops does it take to beat a suspect?
//None, he fell.
