I would have bought me a pony or two.

I would have paid off my bills and had enough left over to get an ice cream cone. Yay!

Give every adult man and woman in Iraq 16,000 dollars and a plane ticket to the United States

The perspective that provides really pisses me off.

That is awesome. I particularly liked the Statues of Liberty with the death rays.

That would really be putting the money where the mouth is when it comes to giving the Iraqi people a taste of freedom.

That would have been preferable, to me, than the death and mayhem. The Dakotas could use some more people (in order to crowd out those awful Sioux). It's only 26 million people, we could have found room.

Or hell, fly 'em to Mexico instead of here.

With enough lubrication, it would merely be surrounded by a cloud of steam.

Which one? The "war on poverty" that we have been waging for 40 years? No...that one's cost more than $250B....

Ok...how about the "war on drugs"? 30+ years and more than $250B on that one too eh...?

Pity this didn't get turned into a votable survey. We could have thought of a ton more. Such as building a giant mosaic of a thousand dollar bill using thousand dollar bills, or maybe changing it all into pennies, melting into a ball, and catapulting it at Iran.

/"You're saying we should throw money at the problem?"

$250 billion and we aren't even in the real war yet.

/trillions?

Wow, we could have gone to war with that much money.

Yea, I bet Saddam would have happily let all his plebians flee to the freedom of the U.S. without trying to stop them...

$250 billion is only the tip of the iceberg. It's going to be in the trillions when all is said and done.

Yeah, and instead, we sentenced that "Al Queda wannabe" Zacarias Moussaoui to death. We can't find Bin Laden, or any actual 9/11 plotters, so we kill thier fan club instead. Moussaoui was such a dumbass Al Queda didn't trust him.

Blowing up houses and crap with missiles and chain guns is pretty awesome, but it's not that awesome."

Bush would do well to use this time to crack down on any dissenters, and limit any negative press coverage.

Do we really need to hear about another political scandal?

There should be a voluntary effort for the media to tone down anything that might cause the costs to be driven up.

tinrobot:

The current reward on his head is $25,000,000. So $250,000,000,000 is 10,000 Bin Laden's.

I think that many terrorists popped up in Iraq after we got there.

/Not a coincidence.

cost of war

depressing

Seems like an apropos time to point out that the $250 Billion that has been pissed away has been OUR MONEY. You know, that portion of your paycheck that goes missing every time you get paid? Anyone else feel kind of sick to the stomach when contemplating how every tax paying citizen of the good ol' US of A has been used and abused by these motherfarking a$$holes?

Depressing, but necessary.

Which is why it's best the public not hear about it.

I can't tell if skookum is trolling or not.

Should of changed the reward for that idiot Osama to $249 billion. His people would of walked him up to the FBI offices them selves.

Take the extra billion and build a new WTC building in the middle of nowhere. Put Osama on the top floor and do a controlled demolition of the place.

Capturing OBL would be negligable in the overall scheme of things. People tend to forget that Al Qaeda isn't a vertically stacked organization.

Just like the money from my paycheck that goes to pay for lazy-ass welfare recipients and old fogies that were too dumb to save for retirement.

NarrMaster: Yes, because hiding the truth is always a good idea.

It's the best practical solution in this case. As soon as people hear that 250 billion dollars is being spent in a war, they can't handle it.

The war should be kept for the most part secret except for those involved.

Hey, what if we had invested in new technologies to replace oil? I guess that's selfish of me to put my own country's best interests before those of Halliburton. Sorry Halliburton.

How successful do you think Saddam would be? How many millions of people can one man keep from getting on planes? Man, Saddam was like some kind of superman, apparently.
