(the_rev)   It's official. A two-mile stretch of Tennessee highway has been adopted by "Drew Curtis' TotalFark UFIA." Link goes to a photo of the sign   (img.photobucket.com) divider line 903

Heh. We actually pulled this off. If anyone wants to take a drive down "UFIA highway," come to Claiborne County, Tennessee.

At the junction of US highway 25E and TN highway 63, turn west on 63. It's the first two miles of that highway. Please don't litter.

And yes, I got Drew's permission to do this a few months ago. He actually thought it would be funny if we could pull it off.

2006-04-03 08:58:58 AM
Who gets to administer the UFIA's to the motorists? Will you have a checkpoint?

/// Farkin awesome!

2006-04-03 08:59:29 AM

where the days are longer,
the nights are stronger than the moonshine.
You're gonna go, I know..."

Way to go the_rev.

But does this mean I have to come down to TN and pick up litter once a month?

2006-04-03 09:01:33 AM
Great fun and a good job the_rev!

2006-04-03 09:01:37 AM
My lady teeter and I spent more than nine hours picking up 46 bags of litter along the road a few weeks ago for this.

And we have to do it three more times, during the year.

2006-04-03 09:01:53 AM
Kudos. UFIA highway, heh.

2006-04-03 09:02:12 AM
That's awesome. Maybe we could grab a whole stretch of highway, from east coast to west coast, dub it the UFIAway, Farkway, or something like that.

2006-04-03 09:02:33 AM
TF litter pick-up party, anyone? Three months from now?

2006-04-03 09:02:35 AM
Nice.

2006-04-03 09:02:37 AM
For real? Sweet.

2006-04-03 09:03:52 AM
area 51 just got replaced as my desktop background !

2006-04-03 09:05:08 AM
By the way, the sign was supposed to read "Drew Curtis' TotalFark.com UFIA," but the state has some old restrictions against using URLs on the signs.

So I agreed to let them drop the ".com" portion.

Hell, I just didn't want them doing enough research about us to find out what UFIA means.

So, if anyone from the TN dept of transportation asks, it stands for "Uniting Friends In America."

I think that's what I told them, anyway.

the_rev: I just didn't want them doing enough research about us to find out what UFIA means

I'm amazed that they didn't ask you. Great job though! I'd help picking up if I lived anywhere close.

ROTFLMAO - that is so cool!

So this means Fark parties in TN? On the side of the road?

"Uniting Friends in America"

*snort*

If they only knew...

2006-04-03 09:11:10 AM
Actually they did ask...I just said that the "uniting friends in America" club is a sub-group of the TF members, who enjoy traveling to parties to meet each other. She bought it.

2006-04-03 09:11:56 AM
Well played, sir.

2006-04-03 09:11:59 AM
I'm surprised they didn't ask what UFIA means; here in California, they'd probably ask. So....if we were to try and pull this off here in the DPRK, what would we say UFIA "means"?

2006-04-03 09:13:11 AM
the_rev, you are my hero.

Good job!!!!!

2006-04-03 09:13:31 AM
Hahahaha. That's awesome. Good job.

2006-04-03 09:13:33 AM
Think you can get them to change it to unmoderated's pic?

Thanks, everyone. I heart y'all. I will probably post this again later in the afternoon for the west-coasters to see.

2006-04-03 09:16:45 AM
Dude, That is just awesome!!!!
*Raises glass*

2006-04-03 09:16:52 AM
That's mighty nice...

2006-04-03 09:17:01 AM
I love it!

Now that you've adopted it, do you have to go pick up trash there? I've always wondered how that works.

2006-04-03 09:17:38 AM
This deserves a greenlight!

2006-04-03 09:17:50 AM
Oops, never mind. Just saw your trash-picking post. Let us know next time you go and we'll come help you.

2006-04-03 09:18:00 AM
i just love it. made my day.

2006-04-03 09:18:06 AM
We had to agree to pick up trash four times over a year. They waited until we'd completed the first pick-up before they made and installed the sign.

2006-04-03 09:18:10 AM
the_rev: Actually they did ask...I just said that the "uniting friends in America" club is a sub-group of the TF members, who enjoy traveling to parties to meet each other. She bought it.

yeah, that's why I think this shouldn't be a greenlight

less chance of them figuring it out that way

2006-04-03 09:19:41 AM
I sent the photo to Drew. I asked for a nod on the greenlight, so the 'liters can see it too.

2006-04-03 09:20:21 AM
less chance of them figuring it out that way

Hmmm...you have a good point.

2006-04-03 09:21:35 AM
Kudos, sir. You rock.
