How could this possibly be construed as homoerotic? Ohhh wait.

That's right, they should be promoting pregnancy so we can keep the womenfolk in the kitchen, where they belong.

Ironbar: That's right, they should be promoting pregnancy so we can keep the womenfolk in the kitchen, where they belong.

Now wait just a minute. My kid was 12 pounds at birth. When his (very petite) mom was pregnant, she wasn't worth a damn in the kitchen. I had to take two days off for some silly newfangled thing called "paternity leave" and run a whole bunch of dishes through the machine before I could go back to work again.

This "Pregnant Womyn In The Kitchen" thing is overblown. Looks like the best thing is to move a second woman in while the first one is out of commission.

Whoooooo, lives in pineapple under the sea?

SpngeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob Squarepants.

Absorbent and yellow and porous is he.

Well, at least he can clean up the wet spot.

Traditional Values Coalition? At first that may sound innocent enough, but that is a farking scary name. Sounds like they yearn for the old days when you could beat your wife as often as you like and own black people to boot. They still haven't entered the 20th century while the rest of us are progressing into the 21st.

I guess theres no need to ask Mr Spongebob this question:

Tell me boy, are you a sponge or a stone?

Isn't it ironic that Mr. Crabs daughter is a sperm whale?

Now look here, I'm not gay... I can reproduce by budding, making me sexual is just not right. I'm A-sexual for goodness sakes.....

2002-06-05 08:52:48 AM
HEY!! I know, just play Animaniacs reruns in between every 2 questions. That was about the most pro-heterosexual cartoon ever....except for maybe Pinky and The Brain. But, that'd bring bestiality into it also...and gang bangs...but I digress :D

That's right, work in shifts.
I'm not going to miss Andy Griffith because any wife of mine can't make me my eggs when she's got a bun in the oven.

"its real goal: promoting the homosexual agenda on a popular kids' television program."

Oh no! The 'Homosexual agenda'! Nobody told me we had an 'agenda'. But I see where they're coming from. If kids are exposed to homosexuality, it's the end. All our kids will turn gay, their pets will soon follow and pretty soon every class in school will be about kids having gay sex all day. Then their parents will turn gay and when the kids grow up they'll turn their kids gay too! We can't have this! Pretty soon everybody will be gay! Won't somebody think of the children?

2002-06-05 08:56:29 AM
No one should hate anyone because of a difference. Homosexuals should not be hated, just like differnet races should not be hated.

However, what you have here is not fighting hate, it is indoctrination of children. Everyone involved, Rosie, Ellerbee, GLADD are not just out to stop hate, they are out for political influence an special laws and rights because someone is homosexual.

No one should be treated any different thatn anyone else because of something that they cannot help.

This should apply for both harmful things and beneficial things.

2002-06-05 08:56:41 AM
Seriously though (relatively), this show is fine, play it about 9pm or so at night when most 8-11 yr olds should be in bed, and watch it WITH your children...you know, take a part in their life? ever heard of it? At any rate, I am fairly homophobic (some guy even APPEARS to be hitting on me, knee-jerk reaction is to kill 'em), but I believe everyone, including kids, should make their own choices....even someone that would like to be with an Animaniac (sry couldn't resist :P )

2002-06-05 09:05:16 AM
Hytes Xian, I don't think homosexuality is wrong, I think child sexuality is wrong. I raise my children in a loving environment. I teach them to respect others, and to be socially responsible. I'm also teaching them the safe and proper way to use firearms, but then, I live in Alabama.

2002-06-05 09:07:17 AM
Katchaa:
Do us all a favor and dont post when you're drunk.

Rosie's intentions were probably good. I don't think we should be teaching our children to be gay, I think we should be teaching our children not to hate gays. I will leave it up to them to figure out their sexuality. The questions listed in the article are VERY hard to answer. If I were in those kids positions, I would be very nervous to answer them. I dont think 8-13 year olds even know the answers to them, but I could be wrong. But I am, after all, only 15.

I'm not really sure if this kind of stuff should be on Nick, being that these children's parents trust the channel not to hurt their children and such. Some parents dont want their children hearing about that kind of stuff, and I respect that but I do not agree.

A better idea, would be to have this kind of discussion on the nightly news or something. Let the parents talk to their children, instead of having some old fat lesbain do it for them.

No matter how homoerotic spongebob gets, I WILL NEVER WATCH IT!!! Ahh I cant beleive 14 year old girls watch that crap. Maybe older, I hope not.

Snopes.com has already addressed this issue.

Also, how exactly do you "promote" homosexuality? Promise children you'll lavish them with wonderful gifts and prizes if they make the switch to homosexuality? If a kid's not gay, they're not gay. All the "promotion" in the world isn't going to want to make a straight kid assblast his best buddy.

2002-06-05 09:08:49 AM
Agreed

2002-06-05 09:09:06 AM
Mr. Sym
If you are born gay, wouldn't that mean it was genetic? And if it was genetic, wouldn't homosexuality ease its way out of the gene pool?

2002-06-05 09:09:11 AM
Well Spongebob, why did you go out with Pearl? And you are always chasing Sandy around. For Christ's sake, shes a mammal! And I have heard storie about why you are always staying late in Ms. Puff's class.

2002-06-05 09:09:59 AM
hmmmm....I am sensing a disturbance......flamebait perhaps?

2002-06-05 09:11:15 AM
I think what might be one major thing a lot of these types are afraid of isn't necessarily just that kids (or themselves) might be exposed to gays, although there is a large part of that inherent in the typical "Gawd didn't intend this" bullshiat rant they use, but there could be a pretty significant reason in the fact that "gay culture" is so... well. Gay.

Even I find myself extremely uncomfortable around things like gay pride events, and I've got a boyfriend for cripes sakes. I've gotta agree with The Onion on this one. There's nothing wrong with being gay, but there just might be something wrong with marching down the middle of the street in a pair of crotchless chaps and a diaper. :)

Gay Pride Parade Sets Back Mainstream Acceptance of Gays 50 Years

2002-06-05 09:14:53 AM

A quote from the Onion article above:

But, for mainstream heterosexuals unfamiliar with irony and the reclamation of stereotypes for the purpose of exploding them, the parade resembled an invasion of grotesque outer-space mutants, bent on the destruction of the human race.

See, they think gay people are Gwar after something like that! THAT explains EVERYTHING!

2002-06-05 09:17:23 AM
TellarHk....that is very VERY wrong...

2002-06-05 09:19:24 AM
poor spongebob.. just imagine the boycotts coming on. what I'm curious about is why they picked an age group of kids that have no farkin clue what homosexuality is about. Parents don't explain it to their children because it isn't a part of growing up.

Hang them!

Damn, this feels like a chat room. Wheres the fark chat room?

I need someone to clear this up for me...why is it that anyone who is not accepting of gays is 'homophobic'??? Thus scared of gays. What if people aren't scared, they just don't like it. For instance, if I don't like Broccoli, am I brocophobic, or do I just not like broccoli??

I've never understood this reference to everyone being 'scared' of the gay lifestyle. I'm sure some are, but can we come up with another word for those who just don't like it?

And if that is the case, that people just don't like it, then why do we NEED to change their minds?? I'm all for diversity, but if I meet a person who doesn't like dogs, and I have a dog, I don't ostarcize them and tell them how ignorant they are, and try to get them to 'accept' my dog, even though I live my dog very much. It's just like ok, 'you don't like my dog, then don't talk to my dog'

That is tolerance...

2002-06-05 09:25:32 AM
I think its best for each of us to teach our children ourselfs and not some tv program reguardless how well its intent. teaching 8 y/os about any kind of sex isn't the answer for gay acceptance. I don't care if people are gay, do what ever you want to do, but I don't want to see or hear about it in public, or have to explane it to my 6 year old either. Best thing you can do for your kids is throw the FARKing tv out with the trash - really! Kids under 14 - 16 aren't equiped to handle this kind of thing. They aren't ready mentally or sexually - even if they themselfs turn out to be gay. Kids already have enough shait to deal with these days - like 6 year olds being charged with sexual harassment for kissing another on the cheek during recess. Just let them *be* kids for christ sake.

Don't get me wrong. I think everyone has the right to live and love and be happy. Your life is a path I cannot dictate.
Nor would I want to.
I have a hard enough time navigating my own course.

Greenblood: What I meant is that I have a serious problem with any situation where homosexuality, or possible homosexual slants, could be applied. For example, I spent most of High School not changing for Gym simply because the whol 20+ guys in one room naked bothered the heck outta me. I have so bad a problem with this that I got kicked out of the Navy for it, didn't know about the whole small room+sharing with guys for 6months at a time....

2002-06-05 09:35:15 AM
Greenblood: You aren't wrong at all. I'm not homophobic, but I can't understand gay relationships. That's OK, and it is OK with gay friends I have.

What I don't do is go around bashing their choice in life. I don't go around wearing t-shirts that say "God Hates Fags." To use your analogy, if I don't like dogs, I don't go around kicking some innocent dog's ass.

TellarHK

A) How do u get peoples names bold like that
B) Thats what every man-lover says. No, scratch that. EVERYONE says that.

Lets not get into a "who's bigger" debate.

2002-06-05 09:36:30 AM
GreenBlood,
On a similar note; people often say things along the lines of "That person is just making rude comments about gay people because he is gay."
A freind of mine came up with the retort: "Hey, I don't like spiders. That doesn't mean I have a secret desire to be a spider."

2002-06-05 09:36:55 AM
Easy, Greenblood. If you saw someone who made it a point to kick every dog he sees, or to evangelize the fact he hated dogs, thought dogs were unclean, things like that, should everyone leave him alone? The problem with the way a lot of people treat gays is pretty simple. Because of thier sexuality, they're not only treated with simple disapproval of who they are sexually, they're treated like second or third class citizens. Or worse. GodHatesF**s.com ring any bells?

The situation a lot of gay people, particularly the "noticable" ones of which there are many, really does resemble in a strong way the differences African-Americans had to endure (mostly) before the 70's. Job discrimination, hurled vulgarities, and condemnation in the right-wing press all because of something that's most likely a genetic predisposition. (I think it's genetic in arouond 90-95% of cases, though not necessarily all.)

It's not something people are aware of, because we're at the point in the evolution of western society where it's not in vogue to be intolerant, but where it is very much in vogue in the right-wing segment to openly hate "special interests" and "special rights" which are easy ways to paint anti-hate legislation in an unfavorable light to the underinformed.

I don't like "special rights" myself, but I think the important thing is that the message needs to be passed on more strongly that intolerance is bad, mmmkay? The right likes to use the backlash factor to cloud the issue and claim that discrimination doesn't exist.

And when I say right, I just want to clarify. I mean the religious right more than the conservative right, though the two are awfully well interwoven.

I think Dr. Laura likes it dolphin style.

2002-06-05 09:40:14 AM
Another point. Why don't we take shows like Blind Date, or The Newlywed Game, or any number of the "relationships" shows on Christian television. Groups like the TVC take issue with the idea of gays "promoting" their lifestyle. But aren't those shows I mentioned doing the exact same thing? Aren't they "promoting" the heterosexual lifestyle?

The answer is simple. If you don't like the message you are being given, switch the farking channel.

2002-06-05 09:41:19 AM
Nice interperitation of the bible, total farker.

If I may do my own quote:
"Not many people beleive in god anymore" - The smoking/cancer man from X-Files.
I beleive him to be incorrect, though I wish he were correct

2002-06-05 09:44:15 AM
So TellarHK, would you say that you are intolerant of intolerance?

2002-06-05 09:47:41 AM
would that be considered a catch22? Or is my understanding of catch22 that limited?

I hate hate...or should I start saying I dislike hate?

I dunno, put that way it almost sounds like a Marilyn Manson concert. Considering what Henry Rollins observed when his band opened for Manson in Germany once.

They got into this thing where they wanted the crowd to chant with them, and Marilyn's going "We hate love, we love hate!" and holds the mike out to thirty thousand Germans. And you know, the Germans can be a really stiff bunch of people. They're really not into the crowd participation thing on that level... they're notorious for their crowd participation in decades gone by...

Okay, maybe it's not a lot like that, but it made me laugh to recall that quote. :)

I dont think all gay-haters should be butchered...
I think all televangelists should be choppped up into little bits and sent to bottoms of the 7 seas.

Tellar: First, godhatesf**s.com----> That's pretty extreme, and not reflective of the general public.

And yes, anyone who is openly beating gays up has a problem, and needs to be dealt with, but guess what, people 'proclaiming' that you are a sinner or dirty...this is America, they can do that.

When I was a Freshman at my college, we had a street preacher that stood in the high traffic areas and proclaimed us all sinners and dirty little people becasue college students get drunk, and have sex, and like to party...we laughed at him, and all of his little cronnies.

And I know that you will say that there is more than one yelling your direction...true. That was just an example.

How about this, I decided my freshman year to join a fraternity because I didn't have a lot in common with the guys on my floor. I liked the guys at a particular house because it wasn't the stereotypical frat-boy, a$$hole place. And I have had to hear for four years from everyone else on campus how horrible frat guys are, and every imaginable derogotory thing that could be said...but I know that that isn't me, and that's not really true of how I am, so I feel no need to try and change these people's minds about me or my friends.

However, I do agree with you that Govt needs to not discriminate or oppress. But for the general public, is it really that horrible when someone doesn't like your lifestyle. I don't like others pushing their views down my throat just as you don't...I think that's the message that a lot of gay activists are missing.
