Its just wierd to see such openly hostile attitude toward homosexuals - I wish they could explain their phobias. They mention several times that it's innapropriate and talk about how they know that GLAAD's agenda is to have positive media portrayal of gays - but I wish they would offer their insight as to why any of those things are neccesarily bad.

Hmmm, maybe a bit. A typical knee-jerk reaction is similar; that any sexuality is innapropriate for children...but on the other hand, kids are learning to masturbate and become aware of themselves and each other about that age. Why shouldn't they be made to be part of the discussion about sexuality - they're certianly curious.

I don't get the actual need for "discrimination" laws against gays and what not. Aren't there already laws that cover that area rather well? I mean, why do you need a gay version of the law?

I mean if you go up to someone and scream "you faggot" and then punch them..that's technically assault and battery...so um.. you don't really need some new law there..just my opinion...I don't care either way really...it doesn't effect me, and I don't watch TV, it's really gay:P

MisterSym, really the answer to your questions are quite obvious. The anti-gay, uber right-wing, bible thumping drones fear that if homosexuality is viewed as a normal and equally valid lifestyle, and is socially accepted on a large scale, then there is a chance that their sons and daughters are going to be corrupted by it, and thus, may grow up embracing an evil and morally wrong way of life in the eyes of their religion and/or think it is acceptable.

There is nothing more nefarious to certain persuasions of Christian than a fag.

Nevermind how others in society may wish to teach tolerance or educate teens and young adults that being gay is not "bad" for some very good reasons. For the most part, the right wing-nuts do not want their children to think independantly on any issue that is an affront to their moral values, period.

As far as Nick doing a show, I think they need to make the target audience a little older. I have no problem with them doing the show...just not for eight year olds.

Furthermore, parents should be monitoring what their children are watching anyway. If something like this is an affront to them, it is up to the parent to make sure the kids do not watch it.

Why do people associate saying that homosexuality is wrong with hate?


Personally, I get a little tired of seeing the sexual innuendos worked into entertainment targeted at children. A good example of a sqeaky-clean movie I really appreciated lately was Monsters, Inc. It managed to be a wonderfully entertaining and endearing movie without stooping to lower common denominators.

I'm in favor of homosexual rights, and teaching children that all kinds of love is a good thing. And it's all part of my agenda.

I have an agenda to raise my two kids to be decent, loving people. I don't want them to fear or hate. I want them to be as loving as they possibly can be, and I don't particularly care if it's with a man or a woman a long as they are truly happy.

That's my agenda. I've lived in fear that you'd find it out, but it's in the open now.

I think I've got the formula down-pat:

Parents = influence is questionable at best. Maybe Dad's screwing the kid. Maybe Mom's poisoning them like in 6th Sense. Maybe both of them set the kid on fire every night. Teaching their kids to hate blacks & gays, is the least of their crimes.
