As catholics, they will never be able to be priests, use birth control or get a divorce.

Why do they need to vote?

They should have been watching The Man Show...

dmk888: one of my favorite Man Show bits of all time...

I have to go with the Man Show Boy trying to get people to buy him liquor. Or rather, the skit where the Boy tries to pick up chicks on the beach.

2006-04-02 11:07:07 PM
I wish I had gone with more catholic school girls when I was younger, as it stands I have no "and then she unzipped her jumper" stories.

2006-04-02 11:07:10 PM
Hah, we did one of those when we were in high school....then one smarty pants girl had to go and ruin our fun :(

Otto Pilot I hear the school had to get rid of the school fountains because the girls petitioned to ban dihydrogen monoxide.

Favorite "Bullsh*t" prank of all time, and I'm a tree hugger.

I agree with, ecmoRandomNumbers. These girls were tools and got shown up for it. The School has also been shown up for crappy educational institution.

to be fair, suffrage is a bit of an antiquated term.

but hey, life isn't fair...especially when you repeal suffrage.

This thread is useless without pics of hot chicks in catholic schoolgirl outfits.

ecmoRandomNumbers: I'd be furious if I paid for a private high school and my kids didn't know what suffrage is.

It's a Catholic school, they probably glossed over the parts about the women's rights movements. And the Holocaust.

It's "all-too-eager," delawareonline.com. All-too-eager.

2006-04-02 11:13:59 PM
DAMN! Was going to call shenanigans on account of the Man Show skit, but got beat.
Still, you've gotta hand it to the boys for playing on the ignorance of others who feel the need to provide an opinion on a topic they have no clue about.

dbaggins: to be fair, suffrage is a bit of an antiquated term.

Sadly, it shouldn't be. It's probably a good thing to know that universal suffrage has not always been the rule, and that many of the rights people enjoy had to be fought for, instead of being handed down by benevolent Big Brother.

/wow, that was a little tin-foilly
//what we were talking about?
///Went to a Catholic co-ed school, and there were some dumb-ass girls, and guys, there

2006-04-02 11:14:51 PM

Hah, we did one of those when we were in high school....then one smarty pants girl had to go and ruin our fun :(

that's how this prank always goes down.

sadly for this school, there wasn't one smarty pants girl.

...or, there were smarty pants girls and they enjoyed watching their dumber classmates make knobs of themselves.

knowing catholic schools, I suspect the latter.

2006-04-02 11:15:05 PM
I think we're missing the important issue here:
Where is this petition? I'd like to sign it too.

2006-04-02 11:15:16 PM
looks like the pic was for me. Suffrage is good, too.

2006-04-02 11:15:24 PM
After watching the video, I have to say, these men are true examples of genius.

2006-04-02 11:16:08 PM
uh, i hate to be the one to break it to you guys, but erm...

this thread is useless without video!

/would've loved to help pull that prank

Cheers, Vitruvianman.

This says more about heard mentality than it does about dumb girls in general.

2006-04-02 11:18:22 PM
good ole flopp

I guess you failed to look about 10 posts above you.

2006-04-02 11:18:30 PM
Not suprising that they were totally ignorant. I know that I never heard a peep about the suffrage movement in school until I went to college. Thankfully my mum was determined that I would know about the hell my foremothers went through so I that I could vote today.

I'm sure most of these girls would recognize the name "Fredrick Douglas" or "Martin Luther King Jr," but very few have ever heard of Susan B Anthony or Elizabeth Cady Stanton.

Shame, really. I feel like if more young women had a clue just how hard women fought to wrest their rights away from a reluctant and sexist government, they would take that right more seriously and actually apricipate in the political process.

all schools now just teach to the tests. memorize and forget.

My job is secure for my entire natural life

American schools are teh awesome! And yes, girls are stupid.

2006-04-02 11:20:39 PM
Otto Pilot I hear the school had to get rid of the school fountains because the girls petitioned to ban dihydrogen monoxide.

I don't blame them for not knowing what dihydrogen monoxide is. The proper name is hydrogen oxide. If you really want to be confusing, just call it hydroxilic acid.

2006-04-02 11:21:29 PM
Note, at the beginning of the video, the young man points out that the school is an "academy of excellence" or something, according to the Department of Education. So, it seems to me that's it's a reasonably effective satire of our standards in this country. I say well done.

That having been said, most people in this country don't know anything about the first ten ammendments, so why should we expect them to be familiar with the 19th?

yep. you got it.

/former catholic school girl

2006-04-02 11:22:50 PM
by the way, I'm absolutely sure that if they asked a bunch of dudes their age the same question, those dudes would be just as clueless (unless they had been educated via the Man Show as well.)

2006-04-02 11:23:36 PM
Having taught in both public and private Catholic schools, I can assure folks that there are clueless teenagers no matter where one looks. However, I agree with dbaggins above; the smart ones stand back and watch the others be fools.

This sort of thing isn't surprising. I had trouble with students turning in formal papers with symbols :) and abbreviations (LOL) and then refusing the understand the difference between the concept of 'standard English' and 'substandard English.' These were kids who felt that the discussion "ain't is not a word" was the height of intellectual debate.

Not to bash teenagers, but I had to go find a job in an industry where every word, every comma, and every spelling mattered.
