Meh who wants to drive to Indiana to fuss over a few years of some 24 year olds life?

2006-03-30 09:08:25 AM
I'm going to miss the animatronic robot James Dean that would encourage homosexual visitors to put cigarette butts out on his chest and forearm.

It was like he was alive again...

2006-03-30 09:12:20 AM
James Dean = actor in 3 movies, legend, Porsche destroyer
Jimmy Dean = singer, sausage maker.

2006-03-30 09:14:04 AM
It's about time they closed that place, it's a real wreck these days.

2006-03-30 09:19:00 AM
You mean it's closing without a cause?
Some say it's a Giant mistake but since it's located East of NOWHERE, no one went to it.

There, I made EVERY possible reference to what this guy contributed to society.

Now, JIMMY Dean?? a Jimmy Dean Museum would stay open cause....

wait for it...

"Jimmy Dean is Forever"

/see what I did there? I incorporated HIS name into his big movie role too!
//I'm really clever

2006-03-30 10:30:29 AM
What if they opened a museum and no one came? Oh, that's been answered? My bad.

2006-03-30 10:42:11 AM
I preferred "Rebel Without A Cosby".

"Now, what you gotta do, is you gotta put down that knife, and replace it with a Jello Pudding Cup."

Ironically, the Donald Turnipseed museum is more popular than ever.

2006-03-30 10:44:12 AM
Tragic how the man died too young eating sausage too fast....

/props to the headline writer

2006-03-30 10:44:29 AM
Was his Porsche in it? His former Porsche should be tried for mass murder(check wikipedia for a rap sheet...from a car!)

Eat More Possum: James Dean = actor in 3 movies, legend, Porsche destroyer
Jimmy Dean = singer, sausage maker.

I don't think that was really necessary, do you?

We don't get French benefits?

2006-03-30 10:45:02 AM
Who won? You, or I?

2006-03-30 10:45:49 AM
For anybody that doesn't know, Fark has a long history of making a joke of confusing the two people. I have no doubt it was intentional.

Jimmy Dean turns any place into Gas City.
At least, when I eat it it does.

/mmm, sausage...

2006-03-30 10:50:10 AM
His motto: Live fast, die young, and leave some great tasting sausage.

2006-03-30 10:53:16 AM
We don't get French benefits, we get fringe benefits.
Its not the leaning tower of pizza its Pisa.
And James Dean was the actor, Jimmy Dean makes sausages.

Wait! We don't get French Benefits!

Gas City? What an odd name.

Does it have something to do with Standard Oil? Anybody know?

What about his hamster collection?

Submitter is a fan of Emo Phillips.

2006-03-30 11:35:00 AM
I never understood the deal over James Dean.

/Going to see Emo Phillips tonight
//hope he's good

2006-03-30 11:46:11 AM
Meh, I've seen exactly one of his movies. It was good, but honestly there are aprox 1 million equally good movies with actors who didn't die young. Where are their museums?

2006-03-30 11:49:50 AM
The guy only made 3 movies, and they wern't even great movies.
I guess he's the 50's version of Selena

Emo was on Bob and Tom today!

Morrissey's Suedehead video takes place there. He plays the bongo amidst cows.

BURT Saxby?

Tell him he's fired!

/oh man, that's really reaching...

I have been to Cholame which is just west of the intersection where he died. Cholame has a monument put up by a Japanese admirer. The monument has a poetic inscription about how he died like a 'cherry blossom'. He ran a Porsche into a truck at 100 mph. Must be one of those cultural differences. Cherry blossoms is not what comes to mind.

2006-03-30 12:41:04 PM
Yawp I bet he looked like cherry blossom after it all went down.

Eufah Kennidiets: Most. Overrated. Actor. Ever. (In terms of the ratio of amount of respect to actual quality and body of work.)

I'll say. His only good movie was Giant, and it wasn't *his* movie. He was a supporting actor with very little screen time.

2006-03-30 12:51:18 PM
Most. Overrated. Actor. Ever.

Who cares?

He made the ladies swoon!

That's all that matters in this world.

"Well, that's unfortunate...it really is"

Did they have pics from the scene or autopsy? I'd have gone for that.

The museum is in the middle of frickin' nowhere, and it's a dinky but shiny building. Meh. At least Auburn would be a nicer place, as they have the Auburn-Cord-Duesenburg Museum and the Victory Museum.

/and if you ever stopped in Auburn, eat at the Auburn House. Bloody good food.

2006-03-30 01:52:45 PM
I always thought Rebel Without a Cause was one of the dumbest movies of all time. Though I thought it was funny seeing Thurston Howell III in a frilly apron.

2006-03-30 02:50:15 PM
That museum sucked ass anyway. I had a girlfriend once who was really into James Dean so I had to drive her there from Ft wayne where I was living at the time.

I think it's in Fremont or something, not Gas City. But I remember driving through Gas City to get there.

2006-03-30 03:23:48 PM
Placement if he opened it in Times Square or Hollywood blvd it would be a major success.

2006-03-30 03:48:54 PM
There's always been a James Dean museum in Fairmount, but few years back Gas City declared that JD grew up closer to Gas City so they made a museum.

That nobody went to.
Ever.

The place in fairmount is still open though.

2006-03-30 06:21:12 PM
Gas City is near Muncie. Yeccch.

/'95 BSU grad
//They do have Heurots, though.

2006-03-30 06:22:18 PM
...and Heurots has Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA on tap. Weird for Muncie, normally the surface of the moon.

Indiana trifecta? Makes me proud to be an ex-Hoosier.

2006-03-30 11:08:16 PM
Well, James Dean DID like his meat in a can...

2006-03-30 11:45:43 PM
Big mistake, moving it out of Fairmount.

2006-03-30 11:48:35 PM
James Dean, James Dean
I know just what you mean
James Dean, you said it all so clean
And I know my life would look allright
If I could see it on the silver screen

You were the lowdown rebel if there ever was
Even if you had no cause
James Dean, you said it all so clean
And I know my life would look all right
If I could see it on the silver screen

We'll talk about a low-down bad refrigerator,
You were just too cool for school
Sock hop, soda pop, basketball and auto shop,
The only thing that got you off was breakin' all the rules
James Dean, James Dean
So hungry and so lean
James Dean, you said it all so clean
And I know my life would look all right
If I could see it on the silver screen

Little James Dean, up on the screen
Wond'rin' who he might be
Along came a Spyder and picked up a rider
And took him down the road to eternity

James Dean, James Dean, you bought it sight unseen

You were too fast to live, too young to die, bye-bye
You were to fast to live, too young to die, bye-bye
Bye-bye, Bye-bye, Bye-bye, Bye, bye
