(NY Daily News)   Arbitrend reports show most of Howard Stern's listeners did not follow him to Sirius. Unfortunately for CBS, they didn't stay at his old stations either   (nydailynews.com) divider line 250

chewd: "notice my TF tag? I'm willing to pay a few bucks for things I enjoy"

yep, id buy TF if they didnt use paypal. I'll buy things i enjoy, but i wont let them bend me over for it.

40 cents/day?? Yea, so bad.

NYRBill: no, their fans just jump into every Stern thread

No, these are links greenlighted by Fark. There's 10 times that many on TF.

Tresser: oh...they do have 100% commercial free music stations tho. still have 10 less commercial free stations than XM however.

Was waiting for you to bring this up... and you're right. I was so sad for XM when they got farked by Clear Channel like they did, glad to see they added more channels. I'm not joking either, seeing testical radio farking with XM pissed me off. XM did the right thing in the end.

Yea, you got nothing. Man up about it and we'll handle it in the octogon, brother!

... and much like Howard Stern himself, you're yelling and I really have no idea what you're shouting about, little doggie.

"40 cents/day?? Yea, so bad."

have you heard of some of the crap paypal has gotten away with? I'll never do business with them. TF's price is no big deal, & as soon as i can buy it without dealing with paypal i will. But not before.

man youre awful sensitive about this crap, still trying to justify something to yourself?

40 cents is for satellite radio. No paypal required. Sorry if you like commercials, I don't so I'm willing to drop a few quarters.

I feel sorry for people who fall for Howard Sterns lies and manipulations. But then again, if all you have to look forward to in life is listening to strippers on the radio, then I guess you deserve what you get.

Strippers, farts, and personal attacks on people you've never met before. That's not a recipe for entertainment, that's life in prison! Enjoy, mopes.

oh...they do have 100% commercial free music stations tho. still have 10 less commercial free stations than XM however.

Unless their websites aren't current I'm showing 68 commercial free music channels for Sirius and 69 music channels for XM.

The reason I didn't follow him is purely technology. If you work in an office cubicle-land, like I do, you will not get ANY reception unless you are right next to a window. If Sirius had more ground repeaters it wouldnt be a problem, but the limited indoor reception is a real deal-breaker for alot of us who listen at work and not on the commute. My job won't let me drill a wire to a roof or outdoor antennae, which is Sirius's goofy-ass solution at the moment.

As a side note, we don't have to "wish" we could hear stern for free. I grab a torrent of the sirius show every single day, about 3 hours after it's over. Infinity/ CBS tried for YEARS to keep stern off the web back then, and they were unsucessful. Nothing has changed.

5uperman: I feel sorry for people who fall for Howard Sterns lies and manipulations. But then again, if all you have to look forward to in life is listening to strippers on the radio, then I guess you deserve what you get.

This is another reason why Stern is more popular/has the leverage to get better guests then the other guys. Moonbats like 5uperman are always complaining about him and keeping him and his agenda right up front.

People like him have been lining Sterns pockets for years.

they aren't. both are out of date. i tried to get the numbers myself to post.

A live version, no less.

Sounds like somebody needs a 5uper-blowjob.
I've seen yo-yo's that were wound less tightly than you are.
I love watching holy rollers get worked up. Have to vent that pent-up confusion somewhere, I suppose.
Stand firm, mope.

The reason there are no O&A threads would be that those two suck donkey scrote.
I've heard funnier verbal exchanges on an air traffic control radio.

From what I've heard, they have 0 ratings. The 'pests' are about it. Notice how they can't get on the line with Stern? Stern still has far more listeners than the clones.

Headso: People like him have been lining Sterns pockets for years.

Riiiiight, freak. You're paying $20 a month and driving around your block thirty times a day so you can listen to fart sounds and I'm the one lining Stern's pockets.

You are a classically brainwashed idiot that Stern and his corporate masters love to bilk out of every dime you have and then refuse to sign your autographed framed photo you bought on ebay with the last penny of your migrant-harvest money.

The real joke is that they're all rich fat cats who would never be caught dead in the same restaurant as you let alone take pity on you and allow you to lick their boots clean- which you would gladly do for a free t-shirt.

You are a walking anus.

How can you call that a fact when no one keeps track of listernership and Opie and Anthony reach tens of millions more?

more listeners than what? O&A? if you say so. have yet to see anything independent stating otherwise.

he must mean that when the b-b-b-boys play audio of Stern, then he has more listeners. Which is true..more people hear Stern through O&A than through Sirius. Free advertising...right?

Sorry I am not going to bother writing a 3 paragraph tirade about someone I dont know from a hole in the head.

Keep crying though someone is bound to get into the name calling back and forth you so desire.

2006-03-28 05:19:05 PM
How can O&A reach "tens or millions" more when XM has just over six million subscribers?

2006-03-28 05:20:39 PM
That should be "tens OF millions".

Not anymore, they dropped them due to having people on chan 2, clicking the down button and going straight to O&A.

Still coming up on my DirecTV tuner.

fresh from the DirectTV site:

XM: High Voltage - XL, Channel 879

blahblahblahblah

XL - May include frequent explicit language. The DIRECTV System has a feature which allows restricted access to channels.

Everyone watches channel 2. Everyone knows that.

I listen to music all day long, so I don't care to hear it on my commute.

I tune in either NPR. If I cannot, I download it as a podcast and listen on the way home or while I workout.

I find the stories a lot better use of my time than Stern, which is 85% of the time, nothing interesting.

IF he does a particularly interesting segment, its always on the internet anyways.

2006-03-28 10:22:53 PM
"Sorry if you like commercials, I don't so I'm willing to drop a few quarters."

Who listens to commercials? With or without commercials radio sucks. I play cds in my car, the music is always kickass with no commercials, it costs ZERO cents per day, sounds great even when you pass through a tunnel, and (thank god) none of that idiotic deejay chatter.

2006-03-28 11:04:28 PM
Stern has been on the Fark mainpage pretty much 1-2 times/day since he went to Sirius. O&A??

Well, O&A have been on the Fark mainpage every single day! See, its that link on the right under media friends!

2006-03-29 02:01:27 AM
He stinks and I don't like him.

2006-03-29 07:01:06 AM
Howard Stern is funny on occasion.

Sometimes though he is just creepy when he is telling 18 year olds how much he wants to bang them.

Danger Mouse:

Bad news for CBS. Sirus? They made a good deal.
as Gary Busey pointed out, a million folks followed Stern to Sirus, which more than coverd STerns hefty sallary and made a nice profit for Sirus.

/But then again, who cares? Stern is a washed up ass.

Are you farking crazy or just really farking stupid?

A nice profit?

www.buffalo.edu

Company losses are higher than ever (I think). Talent and programming costs for the last year alone were about $800'000.00US.

We do see a large boost in revenue, but there is no profit to speak of. Nor will there be in the near future.

Here are the numbers from 3 years ago:

$800,000,000.00US.

Number are in thousands. I forgot to add the necessary zeros.

I cannot believe people are still dumping money into this company.

nytmare: Free radio doesn't even try anymore.

Clearly you don't work in "Free" radio. You have no idea how hard terrestrial radio is working. See if you can sit in a meeting at your local station. We work our asses off. Trust me.

I made a mistake on that post...XM will have 10 more on April 17th when the new channels go live.
