I've recently started watching Mork & Mindy.

Still very watchable and funny.

2006-03-24 12:45:31 PM
The fat guy and hot wife thing has been going on since The Honeymooners. It will continue. Pretty simple actually: the best comedians are ugly dudes. Hot guys don't have to be funny.

After 55 years its pretty much all been done. Most shows on today are analagous to some show done in the past.

When I was in my teens I had the entire weeks schedule memorized (we didn't have cable), now I'd rather kill time playing a PC game.

And too many shows appear to target people with a 6th grade intellect. Give me the History and Discovery and Science channels and keep all the other crap.

2006-03-24 12:48:43 PM
Mon. Arrested Development(until recently at least)

Tues. Watch Scrubs/tape House(if it's not premempted)

Wed. Nada (maybe Good Eats if he's cooking something good)

Thur. I enjoy Earl/Office - but hardly ever remember to watch them.

Fri. Nada again.
Sat. Nada goes without saying
Sun. Forget to watch Family Guy

and usually throughout the week an HBO show or two. (& Daily Show/Colbert Report of course)

2006-03-24 12:48:43 PM
Agreed. The only thing I watch on broadcast is Family Guy. It's just so much crap! Thank the Jesus for BBCA and history channel.

I wish they would put Sports Night on again. Or make something that amazingly clever and hilarious.

Watch the original British "The Office" and then you'll realize how inferior the new version is.

If I pay $60 a month for cable, does that make me 12x better than a TFer?

I've been in my new house since October, but can't bring myself to call the cable company. I did buy one of those Sony 400 dvd spinners though and it's awesome. (But it says it might not play dual discs, I haven't tried yet) It's amazing how cheaply you can put 400 movies on your remote these days.

I'm waiting for the "Get a Life" dvds to fall into my hands.

I love how Hollywood is so quick to blame downloads for declining profits, the latest attack has been on downloading tv shows as killing tv. If you want to sell stuff, quit making crap. I'm not buying new stuff (except The Office) but I'm also not downloading. "Fat guys with hot wives with laugh track" and "Hey look these guys are gay" doesn't really make me laugh. Then they cancel really good shows like Freaks and Geeks, Farkers.

2006-03-24 12:54:41 PM
"2 And A Half Men" and "King of Queens" are both funny, I don't care what anybody else says.

2006-03-24 12:55:50 PM
Used to watch:
Married with children, Third Rock From the sun (Stupid yes, but hey), Cheers, Wings, Sienfeld (If nothing better was on), Fraiser (pretentious yuppy humor ftw), Mad About You.

Child of the 80's so missed the true classics outside of reruns, but outside maybe one or two shows it's all turned into recycled goods.

Hell, I'd even watch 'Caroline in the City' before most of the crud nowadays.

HEY! Those shows are teh funnay!!11!

they can each be enjoyed for their individual merits. or is that now illegal?

I only ever see TV shows that a friend downloads for me.

Just finished Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica (the new one), and have about six episodes of 'Rome' to go through.

What? Oh, sitcoms? Who needs those, I've got FARK.COM!

2006-03-24 12:57:40 PM
Old sitcoms that are teh bomb

1) Married With Children
2) Red Dwarf
3) Titus
4) Mash

MIA Skitcoms

1) Living Color
2) Old Saturday Night Live (Ya know when it was live)
3) The Benny Hill Show

Current Sitcoms

1) Corner Gas (only really funny if you know what Saskatchewan is like - maybe just the prairies are good enough)
2) South Park
3) I actually like 2 and 1/2 men (That kid ties it together)
4) Scrubs is funny at times, others it just completely misses the funny mark
5) uhhh....
6) Stewie, Homer Simpson, and Bender not the shows just those characters

Best in Show

1) CSI Original series only
2) Holmes on Homes
3) Daily Planet

5) South Park
6) Corner Gas
7) Overhaulin' (I like Foose's Designs not the actuall lets trick the person part, just the build the damn car part)

OregonVet ftw. M*A*S*H is my favorite sitcom of all time.

2006-03-24 01:03:06 PM
From the original article telling us about next year's shows...

"Worst Week of My Life," a limited-run series on Fox. Each episode focuses on one day in the week leading up to a marriage.

And I anticipate the spinoff will be called "Worst Every Day of My Life ".

Followed by the sequel "Divorce Court", and that leads in to "Happy Days".

2006-03-24 01:03:41 PM
King of Queens is funny cause it's like looking in a slightly fatter yet equally funny mirror.

2006-03-24 01:03:51 PM
"Everybody Loves a Fat Guy With a Hot Wife"

I always called those shows "working class schlub with disproportionately hot wife".

2006-03-24 01:05:59 PM
And joining us in the booth this evening, big fan of baseketball, Tony Nocciolino, who plays, as you know, Latino cut-up Scooter, on the new hit comedy series "What's the Difference" airing between "Recycled Junk" starring Lisa Campbell, and "Same Ol' Crap" featuring teen heartthrob Mark Svenson, all part of the great fall lineup on our network's "Who gives a rat's ass?" Thursdays.

2006-03-24 01:09:11 PM
Just started watching Scrubs it's good but yes sitcoms are broken. I don't need a laugh track to tell me what is funny.

Watch the original British "The Office" and then you'll realize how inferior the new version is.

I watched it and wasn't that impressed. The US version is roll-on-the-floor funny. Maybe I should give the former another chance? Or maybe I'm not sophisticated/geeky enough to laugh at British humor?

I'd watch her act opposite a ham sandwich. It doesn't matter, as long as she's there. So she gained some weight after the baby, makes for better breastsssss.

Despite your differences, you both are tactless and rude. This could be the start of a beautiful thing for you two.

Saturday night on CBS circa 1973 was probably the single best night of comedy in TV history.

7pm All in the Family
7:30pm M*A*SH*
8pm Mary Tyler Moore Show
8:30pm Bob Newhart Show
9pm The Carol Burnett Show

Everyone keeps saying that about the Uk Office that it is Soooooo much better yada yada.

My boyfriend bought me the whole series for christmas and I had to watch it all.

I will agree it's somewhat better than the first season of teh Office, but I prefer the US Office because it is much more believable. The bos is an ass in the US but he still does come through sometimes and you can see how he would have got to the job he is in.

The UK version was practically unbeleivable that that guy would get to be boss, being such the monumental ass he was. I just enjoy the us version more

/not cool enough to appreciate British comedy
//damn

I realized how bad the Tv siruation was when i found myself watching "Highway to Heaven" on TV land and thinking, gee I miss the old days when TV was good. Highway to freakin' heaven, people! Next I'll be watching the Golden Girls! Remember back when all the writers went on strike for a long time? Did they never come back?

Nope, I'm British, and it sucks. Just like the Royle Family. Just like the League of Gentlemen.

Of course, the League of Gentlemen sucks way more than the previous two and a black hole combined. Bleuch.

Crown Of Negativity: /though isn't she one of the ones wacked out on the Xenu juice?

Indeed she is. Remember, she may be pretty, but she's stupid and highly airbrushed in those pictures. A fool and her money are easily parted, especially when they are covered in dead alien souls.

How many fatguy/hotwife shows are on tv right now? I can only think of the two (Family Guy, King of Queens).

Also, I heard once that they try to ugly up Leah Remini on that show to make it more believable that she would be with Kevin James.
