She's a good Sheila Bruce, and not at all stuck up.

It's a man, baby!

2006-03-13 12:47:37 AM
Those outfits are different though they are both limey green.

;)

2006-03-13 12:48:29 AM
Remarkably similar? Yes. The same? No.

2006-03-13 12:49:02 AM
So you mean her name's not Bruce then?

/that's gonna cause a bit of confusion

To the farker blokes across the pond, I'm not saying that we in the colonies don't have our foibles but seriously, a Queen? Still?

2006-03-13 12:52:59 AM
Those are not the same.

Anyone with half a brain can see that.

Look up "Oliver Cromwell" for what happened the last time Britain decided to go without a monarch.

/not British

She wore the same thing to Canada Day '98.

Reason? If she gets kidnapped or killed, chaos ensues in the government of more than one country. Easier for the snipers (and yes, they station snipers around her route) and security officials to pick out the one lady in a bright lime dress. I bet she's dying for a navy blazer, but them's the brakes when you can still legally shut down 10% of the world's surface by getting a bad flu.

2006-03-13 12:54:15 AM
Different outfits....so she likes green....LIME green *wretch*....shaddap.

Bills in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Britain can only be signed into law by the head of state, which is the Queen of England. We each have governors-general that act as substitutes, but because they only work as ambassadors of THAT monarch, when the Queen kicks it, our governments take a holiday. Hence, it sucks if she gets pushed into a black van and no one knows who the king is.

Pretty wacky, huh? Now THAT's democracy!

I don't think so. What crucial function does she actually perform, other than wearing lime green?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Is one line a paragraph?

Ask yourself that question.

Ponder it's mystery.

Get back to me.

And tell me if I've annoyed you.

Or confused you.

(Canada is especially boned - we haven't had a monarch die since we got our independence in 1982, and I'm not too clear on the Oceanic constitutional situation, but I'm pretty sure we'd have a lot of people scrambling for law textbooks if she died and someone raised a point of order in our minority governments.)

tdpatriots12 Extra Cookies for you!

But on a serious note, its tough standing in the shadow of some of the greatest humans that have walked the planet.
QE1 was a great woman and one of my heroes. I would argue for the name Queen Elizabeth The Great in reference to QE1.
And despite the common idea of him, Henry the 8th made Great Britton the separate nation that it is and not a province of France. (of course there were other Henrys involved)
Either way, the western world has to tip their hat to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

2006-03-13 01:06:03 AM
LeMat!

So you mean that "Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Britain" will come to a standstill if a 79-year-old-lime-green-suit-wearing-parasitic woman gets offed?

I somehow doubt it.

"remarkably similar" NOT equal to "same".

Shoot the submitter!

2006-03-13 01:08:17 AM
What I meant, was, is it true that these Lime green atrocities are pre-planned so that snipers and security can keep a better eye on her, or is that just speculation?

/why do I even care? *pondering*

Not a constitutional lawyer, but here goes...

I don't know if 'offed' is as risky as 'taken', which is something you pretty much just have to plan for as a matter of course. Not saying it's likely. And you're right, a standstill is really unlikely; it's a lot less likely that everyone will drop what they're doing and wait for her signature than it is that minority parties in a pout will start up litigation about illegitimately-passed laws in the absence of royal assent.

My personal fav is Henry the 5th

Good grief, she's an old lady, cut her some slack.
I bet some of you bastiches biatching at her wear the same stinking socks 2 or 3 days in a row...
/you have a certain air about you

2006-03-13 01:24:57 AM
Similar yes, the same no. And actually, lime green - horrible as it looks on most of us - is in style for this spring. She ought, however, to think about wearing a contrasting top and then matching some decoration of her hat, or the hat itself, to it. Black, white, hot pink, bright pastel pink, and lilac would all go nicely. And she'd probably look better if she wore a two-button jacket with welt pockets instead of that big plain expanse of green - even just going back to the curved lapels and hem of the older one would be better.

And as long as she's going to wear silly hats, she ought to wear more modern, interesting shapes, instead of looking like she just left the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. And flashier jewelry; it's not as if the Queen of England hasn't got something in her jewelry box besides a fairly unremarkable strand of pearls and some rather dull brooches.

/designing people's outfits is my job
//also I'm bored and not quite tired enough to go to sleep

Her Majesty: "Now, we are amused."

/10 stickers for anyone who can name that quote
//She borrowed that hat on the right from the Mad Hatter

Who cares if she wears the same outfit (even though as has been pointed out, it isn't)? She's the farkin Queen. Get over it.

/God save the queen
//We mean it maaaaaaaaaaan!

The Queen wears things that all look alike.

2006-03-13 01:38:19 AM
Back in the 50's she was quite sexy in a sorta difficult to believe but yes...she was...Hey, fancy the Queen! Gotta picture on my locker door, yeh! Shag the Queen!

2006-03-13 01:42:17 AM
Just want to say...
She is not my queen.
But I bow a knee to her anyway.
Think of what she has seen her nation endure. Old bag of wind that she may be, I still recognize her position.
God Save The Queen! From here in Ohio.
That's it, the hounds are barkin and I gotta get to the porch. Where is that fly swat!?!
Stinking mosquitoes! Killing one is like killing a generation!!
Ok, I gotta go.
Long May She Reign.

I don't think it's a matter, of England, Canada, Australia, etc. not being able to get on without her. I thinks it's more an issue of everyone stopping what they are doing to watch the news all at once. Moments like that greatly effect the world no matter what the cause.

careful, the government is NSW. Someone should have tagged this.

ex-lurker: What is up with the one line paragraphs?

I work for one line paragraphs.

So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies.

Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about.

But trust me.... You don't.

I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you dont know what you are talking about.

This is how bad info gets passed around.

If you dont know about the topic....Dont make yourself sound like you do.

Cuz some farkers belive anything they hear.

/sorry... first time I have ever used any cliche, but this just reminded me of it.

Let's play one of those stupid spot the difference games, being that they went to the trouble of lining the pics up:

1. Off white gloves/white gloves
2. Floral print/non-print
3. Round buttons/flattened buttons
4. bow brooch/pearl brooch
5. Hat containing sushi "grass" design/not so much
6. Rounded blazer corners, sharp blazer corners
7. Collar runs straight behind neck/Collar corners first
8. Hat brim angle very aggressive/Hat brim very flat
9. ?
