Ohio tag would be appropriate.

2006-03-08 10:18:31 AM
Damnit, where is the tag that the guy made in a thread concerning Ohio last week? It had the Block "O" and some Buckeye leaves and nuts on it with a scarlet background, it farking rocked!

James R. Hood, 43, was charged with one count of compelling prostitution, or offering money for sex.

That's like the time I robbed a store and they charged me with panhandling. What the hell

That's more than two obscene phone calls a minute!

How can you even dial random numbers that fast, let alone say something obscene?

2006-03-08 10:21:09 AM
Ahhh, 2600 those were the days....anybody got some Capt'n Crunch?

13 every 6 minutes. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

2006-03-08 10:23:40 AM
He had to have some sort of auto dialer with a recorded message.

FTFA: A stipulation of Hood's bond was that he can't use a telephone, cell phone or the Internet, McKee said.

OH NOES!!! How the fark is he supposed to communicate with anybody? Mail a letter? Next thing you know he'll get busted for writing obscene letters and mailing them to random addresses. That'd be teh funnay.

I'd seriously die if I didnt have access to a phone or teh internets.

Keep in mind, they didn't charge him for the harassing calls.
"one count of compelling prostitution"
Unfortunately, its not illegal to make harassing calls in Ohio. I know because we were harassed over a month by the same guy and the cops could do nothing.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

That's a good idea, I wonder if you typed them on a computer and mailed them out from the post office with no return address if you could get caught for mailing obscene letters. I actually have to wonder is sending obscene letters to random people even a crime?

I hate obscene phone calls. I got one last night that lasted 45 minutes.

Yeah, yeah I know, old joke.

2,623 calls in 20 days, "all basically obscene in nature," Coshocton County deputy Brent McKee said.

"random cell phone numbers"? Sounds more like deputy McKee was on the receiving end of these calls. Wouldn't most people stop answering after the first thousand or so?

I dunno, but, I *think* they could charge harrassment. I bet it's be extremely hard for them to track it down though, if not impossible. Especially if you wore gloves when handling the paper, stamps, and envelopes, just in case your prints are on file somewhere.

Lolo's a Hobo
Short version of the story...
He got my wifes name from the phone book. (our mistake)
Started calling at 2am almost every week night asking for her.
I called the cops. They said call the phone company.
Phone company said all they can do is tap my phone and turn it over to police if the police ask.
So my phone was tapped.
Calls continued almost every week night around 2am.
I continued complaining to cops. Nothing.
It took a full month for the guy to move on to his next victim. He never spoke with my wife once. I always answered the phone.
He did threaten me and claimed he watched my house. Cops still did nothing.
Its a shame he never came to the house. Then I could have "Fixed" the problem.

20 hours, 2600 calls

1 hour/60 mins, 130 calls

One call every 30ish seconds, for 20 days straight on schedule?

Pay attention people, this man is disciplined and will go far in life.

Thanks for the map Paddy
But you could also show the map with Peepee Creek (just off the Scioto River), or Blue Ball Ohio (near Middletown), Or any of the ones like Beaver Creek, Big Beaver Creek, or Beaver Lick.
Ohio is SUCH a wonderful place. (to visit)

Geez, sounds like a frustrating event. My gf had something similar happen during a business trip. She and some co-workers were staying in a hotel (Atlanta) and the first night, she gets a call around 2-3am. A male voice kept asking if he could come up to her room. The next morning, turns out all her female co-workers got the same call, but the male one didn't.

The told the manager (most likely an employee of the hotel - they had access to the guest list since it didn't seem random). They all left for another hotel, but I doubt anything came of it. The guy probably didn't even get fired.

Hmmm, I wonder if there is a market for "rent-a-mace" for traveling businesswomen? Set up shop in the terminal, let women rent a can of mace when the arrive (or similar self defence item) then return in when departing (so no trouble during TSA checkpoints). Probably more liability than it's worth.

True story: A few months ago, the local news here in Cincinnati was talking about how people across the river in Northern Kentucky were proposing to make all the strip clubs, adult stores, etc., move to one area - a "red light district", so that people could just avoid that area if they found that stuff offensive. The area that they wanted to move it, no joke, was in Wilder, Kentucky, near or on Licking Parkway (by the Licking River).

I turned to my wife and said "Perfect. The Wilder-Licking Red Light District".

Am I the only one here that didn't realize that it was against the law to merely offer someone money for sex? Who amongst us isn't guilty of that (in a drunken stupor, no doubt) at least once?

/2600 times is another matter though

Well, with a name like Licking County, what do you expect?

Be sure to remember the O in County, eh?

More than two obscene phone calls a minute?
This can't be true because it takes me at least a minute to pick up the phone at 2am.
