I psychically contacted B.A. Barracus, he just kept ranting about people drugging his milk.

2006-03-05 02:03:37 PM
They are making a documentary about the A-Team?

I pity the fool who watches it.

2006-03-05 02:03:41 PM
Thank god he approved... what would they do if he laughed at them and rolled over in his grave?

Did anyone ask Mr T's mother - cuz you know there is no other....

2006-03-05 02:06:58 PM
I'm sorry but was this some kind of legal requirement, I mean the guys dead - do they really need his permission?

2006-03-05 02:10:41 PM
Ever since "The Carpetbaggers" I always thought Peppard was one of the cheesiest, just plain crummy and sh*ittiest hacks to ever try to pass themselves off as an actor. Worse than my namesake even.

2006-03-05 02:14:40 PM
does anyone else hear the A-team theme music every once in a while when driving to the hoop in a pick up basketball game?

Anyone?

Yeah... neither do I...

2006-03-05 02:14:57 PM
They should do a remake of The A-Team for todays kids..

/the van could be a hummer!
//Gotta love the fact that every episode followed exactly the same premise: People with problem contact A-Team for help; A-Team confronts bad guys; A-Team builds something..with groovy soundtrack in the backgroud; conflict is resolved...

Television perfection!

Forget about the A-Team, Banacek was where it was at.

Peppard is dead? Who will lead us through Damnation Alley?!?

2006-03-05 02:16:50 PM
I guess I must be the only person in the world excited about this and think the A-Team was an amazing show and has all the dvd sets and had the toys as a kid. I pity the foo who would disagree with me and think they need throwing helluva far.

Plus a jeep or vehicle of some sort either flips over or a shack gets blown up in the process.

limeyfellow...you aren't the only one. There's a small but steady fandom on-line and there is a very strong fandom in the U.K. I have the first season dvd's and am saving up for the rest.

Anal Cu*nt's cover of the theme song brought tears - not terms - of endearment to my sentimental, maudlin eyes.

2006-03-05 02:24:47 PM
The A-team kicked major ass, period. Great theme song, combined with that motley cast of characters - it didn't get any better than that...except for the The Incredible Hulk.

2006-03-05 02:34:02 PM
at least its not a remake, unless documentary is code for remake now

"Well, it worked when I met George Peppard last week."

"George Peppard has been dead for years."

"Well, whoever he was, he knew a lot about The A-Team!"

2006-03-05 02:40:05 PM
my high school marching band had the A-team's march as part of their repetoire, i can still play it from memory to this day (not that there is much to it mind you).

frankly dwight schultz was the only actor on that show, the rest were hacks, cept for mr t, (he wasn't really an actor per se). regardless, it will always have a special place in my heart, right next to macguyver and thundercats.

HOOOOOOO!

that may be the most uninteresting thing ive ever read.

/always wanted the van

The A-Team was actually amazingly skillfully made. Of course, as a kid, you didn't notice.. But now, when a repeat is on, you can enjoy it just for the cinematography. The film is grainy, yes, (and I didn't remember the film grain either), but the storytelling, though formulaic, is well executed, and the photography is quite spellbinding. The fact that it kept (pre)teen kids entertained even with its longwinded shots of the A-Team bus driving through the desert, or through slowly paced plots and welding-shiat-toghether-montages, not to mention 2-parter episodes, is really a testament to the makers.

So there.

Nightrider, on the other hand, is pretty cheesy looking back on it. The appeal of Airwolf is pretty much lost on me now.

They should bring back a macGuyver-like show though. With stunts that would actually work (perhaps they can hire the mythbusters to figure out some obscure ways to blow stuff up). You'd get sued in an instant for encouraging kids to be creative though. Too bad.

I caught a rerun recently and as someone who watched the show regularly during it's heyday, I must now confess it was a truly dreadful show. I did, however, enjoy seeing Mr. T turn a lawn mower and a dumpster into an Abrams tank week after week.

I'd say the actual 'jump the shark' for it must have been when they had Boy George kick a door in.

2006-03-05 02:47:18 PM
The A-team was dumb. I like it back in the day, but I doubt you can make it work for today's audience. It was perfect for the 80's. Right up there with Knight Rider, Dukes of Hazzard, Remington Steele, and Scarecrow and Mrs. King. But none of those shows belong out of that time period.

2006-03-05 03:06:50 PM
Documentary about an 80s show? Bah, wake me when they make one for Max Headroom.

If you don't/didn't like the A-Team, you are devoid of a soul.

UpTheIrons speaks absolute truth. The A-Team was a world of awesome.

I recently bought the first season of the A-Team, and thought that I was only going in for it on the nostalgia factor.

I was mistaken. Hey, the show is cheesy, campy, poorly acted and the writing is formulaic. But you know what? It's a hell of a lot of fun!

And their stunt pilots for the helicopters were insane. You just don't DO those things with a helicopter.

2006-03-05 03:37:12 PM
Yes the A-team was awsome.

Awsome at shooting tail lights out with machine guns.

Peppard was all about Banacek, that show rocked. Polish detective with a witty saying every week. My mom ate it up.

Thats funny because I spoke to George Peppard last night and he is totally against it. He and his aunt stopped by from the great beyond and talked down the whole idea.

The A-Team is high art when compared to today's #1 show, American Idol. Noone, I mean NOOONE will be watching American Idol reruns in 20 years.

2006-03-05 04:31:24 PM
Dwight Schultz, (Murdoch), made that show.

"Trash bags! I need TRASH BAGS!!!!"

(actually, that's the only quote from the show, that I remember right off the bat... )

He's on the jazz, man... Hannibal's still on the jazz...

I have recently by coincidence been downloading all of the A-Team, I only saw it in reruns when I was little, but now I have all of seasons 1 and 2 and half of the other seasons downloaded and its damn entertaining. Also working on MacGyver.

As for Murdock, my friend said I am Murdock exactly, it was why I was interested in downloading the A-Team. And y'know what, he's right. I am fcking nuts and I have a tendancy to know how to do random things that surprise everyone (ever notice Murdock seems to have more random skills than any other A-Team member? He can drive, shoot, impersonate, fly, can sense Decker with his mind in 1 episode, etc).

Course Murdock>me any day, and I am not quite as insane.

2006-03-05 04:59:45 PM
ever notice Murdock seems to have more random skills than any other A-Team member?

He can also make himself invisable by concentrating on the image of a piece of paper

Murdock kicks ass

uberlame

I'd say the actual 'jump the shark' for it must have been when they had Boy George kick a door in.

That didn't bug me as much as the fact that B.A. tolerated and even admired Boy George.

If B.A. can't put up with the crazy antics of Murdock, do you expect me to believe that he'd get along well with Boy George?

Will you marry me...?

Maybe. Is a love of the A-Team the only criteria you had in a spouse?

The A-Team is one of the funniest SAP shows to watch.

First, the name doesn't translate into Spanish so the show is called "Los Magnificos."

Second, all of the voices--especially that of Mr. T--are ridiculously over-acted.

So hit the SAP button on your remote and try it sometime. It's damn funny.

/airwolf = lobo del aire
//who's the boss = quien manda a quien
///magnum p.i. = magnoom!
