Barney Fife was the greatest comedic role in the history of American television.
Rest in peace, Mr. Knotts.

Kudos to anyone who saw the episode of Highway to Heaven with Mr. McGavin. Excellent television.

I always loved the guy. He was funny in everything he did, and as a kid, I could barely breathe after watching his movies from laughing so much.

Mr. Knotts, you are missed.

Keep God laughing!

I can name a lot of people who have made themselves and everyone else around them absolutely miserable, all in the name of money.

Don Knotts devoted his life to making people happy, and he was good at his work--and well paid for it.

There's a definite lesson in there for all of us.

Don't forget his other animated roles in Cats Don't Dance and Chicken Little. Working till his last, only Don had that distinct voice that only seemed to get better with age.

always one of my very favorites. he was unique..

RIP

In a world of carbon copy People magazine clones, and the soundbite, and Entertainment Tonight, it was great to know that unique, charismatic actors such as Don Knotts could exist. Great character actor, light comedic touch, with a likeness that is rarely mimicked successfully and will never be duplicated.

Barney Fife
Mr Limpett
Mr Farley
and a list of supporting roles longer than my arm. Loved seeing him show up occasionally in Matlock. Lovingly portrayed in Scooby Doo.

Here's to you!

\aw man, not Darren McGavin too!

And we can't forget his memorable appearance in Robot Chicken!!

Velma: No! All my friends are dead and I'm still a virgin!

Don Knotts: You think your life is bad? I just found out one of my tenants might be a flaming homosexual! And someone just killed me.

Looks like his bud finally got nipped.

Great man. May he rest in peace. So many shows...so much talent. So many freaked out looking faces...the man was awesome.

I grew up watching Andy Griffith reruns with my dad, and we usually changed it if it was an episode without Barney. He was great, and will be missed.

Mr. Limpet sleeps with the fish.

One of my very best friends is much younger than I am, and she said "Who?" and I can't find anything he did that she knows. Gosh this makes me feel old.

The icons of my youth keep going downstream, and as they pass, they are eroding the bank upon which I stand. Sooner or later, I'm going in too.

Them Man-on-the-Streets is dropping like flies. Any of them left?

Mr. Limpet was his best work.
