Splitting a bunch of money and trying to keep quiet is harder than you think.

"Whatza matta wit you? what da f*ck iz da matta wit you? Didn't I tell you not to spend anyting DIDN'T I TELL YOU"

So did anyone else read that and think they saw the phrase 'Greek panties'?

They don't all get caught. Just in the movies. Look at Iraq, how many bil gone? 8 maybe?

Not to mention domestic corp crime. Best way to steal a mil is to wear a suit and a tie and work a 9-5, not with a gun.

8 Billion vanished into thin, scorched air in Iraq. That's a frickin' heist!

I always cheer when I hear of something like this where no one was hurt.

Lots of money, no death on your concience.

I hear they're cracking down on that, but you're probably onto something there.

I read this story elsewhere earlier today - they also took the manager's family hostage and threatened to kill them if he didn't cooperate - not kidding... a'la Firewall, Hostage.

Well, of course they had arms. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to tie up some folks if you didn't have arms?

DrRatchet: Anyone blaming the IRA for this yet?

Well, it's the exact same MO as the last one, but it's early days.

No, they just held guns at the heads of little kids. What lovable rogues!

justanotherfarkinfarker: that many bills weighs a shiatload though. Probably like 8 hockey bags full...

According to cockeyed.com (pops), the smallest pile of a million US dollars (in $100's) takes up 643 cubic inches and weighs damn near 20 pounds. That's 10,000 bills.

Biggest UK note is the 50, requiring 500,000 bills for this heist. Assuming it's roughly the same size (I know it isn't, but pretend), that would take up 32,150 cubic inches (18.6 cubic feet) and weigh 1,000 pounds.

Sweet farking Og.

Good on these guys. They still had to haul out over 150 pounds each, assuming there were only six (as in TFA).

Son, You got a pastry on your head.

Mmmm, baklava. I prefer spanakopitas personally. ;)

No, I take it back. I want the money.

Is there a 'Firewall: The Motion Picture' connection?

NYC TV news may have mentioned it.

Cue the instrumental outro to "Layla" in about two weeks... look out for the DeNiro lookalike in the group

justanotherfarkinfarker:

Biggest note in the UK is a 100. Only used in Scotland tho.

Thanks mungo!

But....

No one is making the 'Firewall' connection???

Actually it is now reported to be as much as forty million pounds.

Now that is a lot of money.

Dave Bowman: Well, L50 isn't actually the biggest note in the UK, it's just the biggest in circulation. The Bank of England uses L1,000,000 itself and issues them to major banks as well, to cut down on the 'weight' issue.

Of course, if this joint had those notes, I don't think anybody who steals them will ever actually be able to use them because it would raise more than a few eyebrows and some pulses if some gangster walked into his local HSBC to deposit a L1,000,000 note.

edit: wtf can't Fark show the pound sign? Useless...
