I figured the Rakkasans would've torn them apart if they got word of them doing that kind of shiat on post.

Unfortunately, the Rakkasans have been in northern Iraq since September/October. I definitely know what you mean, though.

Why hasn't someone whacked that fark, or at least burnt down his church?

Well, that is illegal. However, pointing and laughing is not.

Doggie McNugget: As repugnant as Phelps is, how is what he's saying different than the Bible? God destroyed 2 cities with fire, said homosexuals were an abomination, a few other places where homosexuality was listed specifically as a sin. And I doubt the people killed in Sodom would be floating around in heaven right now. So what's worse, telling gays they're going to hell or raining fire upon them?

According to the Bible, Phelps is right.

The New Testament is a lot less violent and hateful. And it is supposed to overrule the Old Testament. If you see Jesus as simply a historical figure, a reformist preacher, stories like Sodom and Gomorrah are specifically what he was trying to "reform" against. If you see him as the "Son of God", then he was forging a new covenant with man... but the message is the same.

I invite Phelps to a soldiers funeral down here at Fort Carson Colorado. I know a drive by paintballing that is sure to make them wonder if its worth doing :D

Phelps is totally obsessed with anything homosexual. It all comes down to the ghey.

He must be hiding something.
What could it be, what could it be?
Smoovement probably knows.

Wow, just wow!

Phelps also wrote a book in the 1980s with his son-in-law, Brent D. Roper, called The Conspiracy. In the book, Roper and Phelps claim to possess evidence that AIDS spontaneously generated in Africa; Truman Capote contracted the disease during an orgy with African tribesmen; Capote then gave the disease to John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe by playing football with them; and that the CIA assassinated all three to prevent the spread of the disease. Phelps published and distributed the book himself; it was also sold in the back of Peter J. Peters catalogue of extremist literature, and thus became a widely circulated text among such groups as the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Brotherhood, and Christian Identity.

from here

I'm absolutely amazed that this fool hasn't been killed yet.

I now stand corrected, George W. Bush is the SECOND biggest asshat in this country.

The trick to hurting Phelps is to attack him without giving him headlines or news soundbytes, the attention he craves. I have an idea:

I like these few photoshops of Phelps being gay, in this thread.

We need a dedicated "Fred Phelps Having Sex With Guy(s)" photoshop contest. Difficulty: MUST be NSFW. And very real looking. Better still, make it look like hidden camera footage, or voyeur footage, like it really happened.

Then, these shots will get distributed all over the net, and anywhere Phelps is discussed online, the images will follow.

These guys showed up for my friend Jerry's funeral in December. It was windy and miserably cold and they stood their ground throughout the entire funeral.

Phelps went to the trouble of creating a hate flier for their upcoming protest of his funeral, but never actually showed. I guess their burning hatred is abated by the cold.

Given half a chance I'd shoot this son of a biatch (Phelps) and serve my time. we're missing an opportunity here, what we need to do is lock this asshole up with the idiots who perpetrated abu-ghraib, and let them have fun /w him, then get rid of the whole lot.

This phelps guy really pisses me off. Im from a small rural town in oklahoma, and i have 8 or 10 friends in the military.

and you know what, they ARE protecting gays. They're protecting every american because thats what they SWORE to do.

My friend has a theory that if the faithful didn't have agnostics and the Constitution to fight against, they'd self destruct by destroying each other. Hmmmm....

2006-02-21 11:33:40 AM
cornswalled What part of "Hate the sin, love the sinner," is [Phelps] missing?

Nothing. Seems like he's got it down to a science. This is indeed the logical extension of that vile "hate the sin..." sentiment.

TIP: Jesus didn't say, "Hate the neighborhood, but love your neighbor."

(Just the last bit. I checked.)

The protests are just a front for getting people to do something stupid (like punching them).

Then, their team of lawyers sue the piss out of them. This isn't some normal organization by any means.

I doubt they're even religious.

In a country the size of America . . .

With all the millions upon millions of autos traversing its highways and byways how is it that Phelps hasn't "accidently fallen in front of a bus" by now?

Just curious.

Evil_Greven: I doubt they're even religious.

You are correct, Sir! He's just found an easily-manipulated group of people to serve his megalomania.

People extending Phelps to all of Christianity in America are ignorant and naive at best, and as absolutist and intolerant as Phelps is at worst.

Phelps.... Grrrr.... I hate this guy.

How does an evil old bastwitch like this remain alive for so long, while good people perish daily? Koresh had nothing on this fellow.

This man, my dearies, is the very definition of "evil" if you must ascribe to such moral absolutes.

smoovement: When anti-war activists gather outside Walter Reed and get a "its free speech" pass from the left - its pretty frigg'n obvious you guys care more about the embarassment of a homosexual basher than you do for the dead soldier. Who do you think you're kidding?

When anti-war protestors gather outside military hospitals they are protesting the failed policy that put soldiers in harm's way.

I challenge you to show me one example of a mainstream left group protesting our military, or an individual soldier?

Well, if your girlfriend has ever stayed at Walter Reed army hospital then she probably would have seen the friends of some of your fellow farkers there protesting her.

I have stayed at Walter Reed (fairly recently), and I would have welcomed an anti-war presence during my several weeks of recovery there.

/I am a combat vet.

I'm a Marine veteran of OIF, I also served in Bosnia and Somalia in the 90's, where did you serve, and where in the FCUK do you get off purporting to speak for others?

When a total stranger gets on a motorcycle in the middle of winter and drives 300 miles to hold a flag, that makes a powerful statement.

Errr, the statement being the total stranger is a total dickhead.

I think it would be funny to host a Gay Pride parade right down the middle of Phelps' protest. Everyone could take turns giving Freddie a lap dance while Cher's "Do You Believe" plays over massive stadium speakers.

A law was just signed in Wisconsin yesterday that outlaws protesting at funerals. (Or maybe just military funerals.)

There are 16 other states that have passed, or are working on similar legislation.

Though, it's a little republican "Free speech zone" for my tastes... cemeteries are private property usually and the funeral can be said to be a religious event. So it's no different than outlawing protesting at a sunday mass.

/hopes Phelps and his entire family runs into someone with nothing to lose who chooses to make an example of them.
//an example of a nice flayed out deli-tray

What I want to know is:

Why is Fred Phelps accusing the Armed Forces of supporting homosexuality, when they are an institution that actively discriminates AGAINST homosexuals?

Because the US allows gays, lesbians and bisexuals to exist, even though they may not be completely accepted by society and the government. Merely halfway tolerating them is going too far and 'approving of their sinning'.

I assume that Mr Phelps wants them all rounded up and killed ASAP.

/As an aside, I would find it very interesting to see what would happen if everyone in society who wasn't 100% heterosexual was instantly outed.

2006-02-21 11:56:23 AM
Fred Phelps and family once paraded around a school bus filled with my sixth grade students. They were carrying signs that could only be described as obscene (men having anal sex.) I had no idea why they would be protesting at an exhibit called "Treasures of the Czars."

After I did some research I found out that one of the czars was "rumored" to be gay. The whole experience turned into one of those "teachable moments" we look forward to and fear.

I have nothing but contempt for Fred Phelps. I don't believe in hell, but if there is such a place he belongs there.

Doggie McNugget As repugnant as Phelps is, how is what he's saying different than the Bible? God destroyed 2 cities with fire...So what's worse, telling gays they're going to hell or raining fire upon them? According to the Bible, Phelps is right.

Spectacular point! Now finish the story: God decided Lot was the only man from either city sufficiently righteous to save, so angels removed Lot to a cave. To demonstrate his righteousness (and console himself over the loss of his wife) he got drunk and farked his very young daughters two nights in a row. So....

According to the Bible, porking your kids is right.

/See, Doggie, I can completely misrepresent Bible stories too!!
//It's interesting that only Christian translations depict the cities' residents as homosexuals.
///I've personally met exactly two Christians who don't sound like this guy, and they were married to each other.

Doggie McNugget: And I doubt the people killed in Sodom

What does homosexuality have to do with being a poor host?

Because that's what Sodom was punished for, you know.

Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom:
She and her daughters were arrogant,
overfed and unconcerned;
they did not help the poor and needy.

Ezekiel 16:49

What's queers got to do with that? Hell, the queers I know are the most gracious hosts you can imagine, and they throw the best parties!

2006-02-21 12:12:05 PM
Don't worry about the protest bans at funerals... they'll be declared unconstitutional at some point.

But the message will have been sent, regardless, and who protests at funerals anyway? I mean, really... No one even protested at Reagan's funeral, and there was such a outpouring of anger over his handling (or lack thereof) of the AIDS epidemic.
