2006-02-20 01:02:39 PM
Ok, can someone point me to a link where they explain how to make those cool depth effects from a standard 2D photo?

Fark that noise. I just got a 60GB iPod Video, supposedly compatible with my Nikon Coolpix 8800.

Yes, the videos will download, but I can't watch them until I transfer them to my computer and tweak them a bit.

Mind you these are .MOV files. Apple format, Apple device. I'm pissed off over this stupid incompatablity.

Steve Jobs, make this right, please. I bought the friggin thing beacause I wanted a mass storage device to download AND VIEW from my camara.

2006-02-20 01:06:24 PM
Link's farked.

I'm assuming it's in RealPlayer format, and every "still photo" has the caption "buffering"?

2006-02-20 01:06:55 PM
Wow!

When you show one photo after another real fast it gives the illusion of motion. It's like...motion pictures.

I hear my local thee-ate-er is trying this out.

2006-02-20 01:10:21 PM
I'll second that... farked!

Anyone ever seen "La Jetee"? That flick that "12 Monkeys" is inspired by?

2006-02-20 01:17:26 PM
I work for Ric Romero and he says thanks for the info about moving pictures. He'll be sure to use it in an upcoming story..

Is it just me or does the second reporter to ask a question bear a striking resemblance to Emotion Eric?

Eric displays concern about democratized Time Travel!

Downloaded.

Certainly doesn't help their site to be hit with fark when the video it is serving up is 54MB.

A nice lesson in editing.
Could see this as another legitimate medium.

//"entirely out of still photos"....... isn't that how all motion picture works?

2006-02-20 01:46:13 PM
Why is this special?

I've seen comic books, graphic novels, etc tell better stories than any hollywood movie, ESPECIALLY the movies based on the comics in question.

Many good graphic novels will often have page after page of no text, just really well done art. The lack of dialogue forces you to examine the frames and gives you a deeper understanding of the message.

Q314: Dr.Zoidberg: Umm, isn't this revolutionary technique called "animation"?

no.

Upon further examination, I would say yes, it is a type of animation. There are traditional animation techniques used, as well as newer 'bullet time' techniques. All in all, while the photography is very good, the whole thing is rather boring. It's like flipping through a design/style magazine while someone talks japanese in my ear. Hold me back.

The difference is in the presentation.
It's pretty much a motion-comic book for the internet age. The sub-titling because of the foreign language accentuated this idea.

I see money in this kind of thing.
/I see money (and boobies) for a living...

Just watched it. Much less crappy than I'd anticipated.
