This is a shot of a juvenile hawk attempting to hunt my cockatiel through the window overlooking our backyard. Didn't realize I had the shot until I downloaded. Thank You Canon EOS D350 REBEL XT / 8.1 MP

Is that in Charleston SC? If so, they've done a lot of work on that bridge in less than a year and it's AWESOME!

I am not sure if anyone will read this, but I would like to ask that those who are using manual settings for thier pics, could you please tell us what you set them at? Shutter? Apt? Maybe even what film you used if you used film. I am learning about this stuff and the more I see with what settings people used the more I will understand. Thanks.

thedarksyde If you are using digital, the best way to go to learn is just use P(rogram) mode and let the camera give you it's best effort. These days, it's usually pretty accurate. Then use exposure compensation to tweak up and down and check the histogram and lcd. If you're using film, I don't know.. I've never really shot film. I would probably do what Ken Rockwell does and carry a digital camera to use as a "light meter" and for quick shots, then copy the settings over to the film camera (allowing for minor differences in exposure).

The best education is to just take a million pictures (I'm still getting there :). I learn more from just being mindful of my surroundings now and taking pictures in my mind as I'm walking around than I would have by memorizing hyperfocal lengths, f-stop series etc. when I started out. I probably would have quit actually :) Pretty boring.

Just my 0.02

Thanks for the view, km5r. I lived under those in Cedar Hill for 4 years and always wondered what the workers up there saw. Beautiful! Even Joe Pool looks good.

Yes that is Charleston, SC. They are currently demolishing the old bridges now. They will lower the two spans on the Cooper river with a pulley system. That should be interesting.

Wow, they did a lot of work on that bridge. I'm very impressed. I was stationed in Charleston for 14 months and it seemed like that construction never went anywhere. Awesome pic!
