Complaints about venue should be posted and subsequently ignored here :)

I'll put up a reminder a day before the event next week, as well.

2006-02-09 01:18:20 PM
For some reason Drew doesn't want to come to Houston. Can't imagine why.

2006-02-09 01:20:55 PM
seriously thinking about attending. Never been to a Fark party. I live 90 miles from San Francisco.

Hmmmm......

Do I need to bring my gag ball, or condoms, or.....gosh.....I don't know how to prepare for these things. Is there a hazing ritual?

2006-02-09 01:21:24 PM
Will sokeri be there? Because I LOVE LOVE LOVE her.

2006-02-09 01:26:24 PM
Tough for me to do this on a weeknight.
Who knows anything can happen.

2006-02-09 01:27:52 PM
Phillylou Agreed, I'd love to come since I'm only 20 minutes from Albany. Should be on a friday.

2006-02-09 01:28:35 PM
Cool. I'm in Oakland (the Biggitty Biggitty O) and have never been to a Fark party either. Perhaps I should.

Will I have to leave my basement to attend?

2006-02-09 01:31:30 PM
Woooooohoo! I'm there. Where is the Mallard Club? Is that the place at the bottom of Solano St, or am I thinking of something else?

2006-02-09 01:31:33 PM
yay! I'm so glad someone finally did this since I've clearly missed the boat.

2006-02-09 01:33:00 PM

munch and I will be there in the corner with the hookers and the blow

/Matt's gonna drive us, right?

2006-02-09 01:37:11 PM
Hell, I'ma gonna show. Just moved into the area a couple of weeks ago. And I'll bring extra hookers and blow.

2006-02-09 01:40:10 PM
wait... albany? ok, I know I shouldn't complain... but shouldn't it be somewhere more central? I know that a lot of the bay area tfers don't have transportation, that was a huge concern when I was looking into doing it. bart only runs so late as it is.

2006-02-09 01:41:08 PM
You know if this was just one day later I would have loved to go. I would have came with my other half who lives in the city and girls - lots and lots of girls.

2006-02-09 01:45:24 PM
Sokeri Munch and I will be there as the hookers with the blow."

Fixed that for ya.

2006-02-09 01:47:19 PM
bigcathead why don't you just send your SO and all the girls in your stead?

/we'll miss ya
//really......sure we will
///ok, just kidding. but the girls.....you're still sending them, right?

2006-02-09 01:53:31 PM

2006-02-09 01:54:18 PM
Barnacles!
///ok, just kidding. but the girls.....you're still sending them, right?

you won't need any other girls, munch and I are handful enough!

2006-02-09 01:58:14 PM
Whats the story if you're under 21?

Whats the story if you're under 21?

it's not gonna be a party if mercurial can't be there.

/ok, I'm gonna stop whining now ;)

2006-02-09 02:06:55 PM
Barnacles! heh heh I really need to learn how to communicate! Not my S.O. my best friend. He uses this account as well. That is how he is my other half.

As for the wimmins so sorry they only travel with us boys.

BESIDES when you have this:

sokeri You won't need any other girls, munch and I are handful enough!

I would never underestimate the power of a San Franciscan Farkette or any Farkette for that matter!

2006-02-09 02:11:41 PM
We're doing it Thursday because that's when Drew is here (leaves Friday).

We're doing it at Mallard Club because it's a sweet spot that's easy to get to by car, and easy for cabs to find from North Berkeley Bart station (and there's always cabs waiting to take you there). If you cab in, just tell the driver to take you to San Pablo and Washington intersection.

Mallard cards hard -- sorry if you're 21 and your fake ID ain't up to snuff.

But if you can make it through all these hardships, you won't be disappointed. Mallard's a great place, and if you've never been, it may become your new favorite bar.

I have to take a trip down to S.F. on Monday, but I don't think I'll be in the area on the 16th. If I do come up with a reason to be down there on the 16th for business reasons, I'll stop in, but I probably can't justify a two-hour-plus round trip just for the party. Especially since I'd have a one-hour drive home ahead of me at the end of the festivities, which would severly limit my beer consumption abilities.

2006-02-09 02:35:56 PM
I'll be there with bells on and nothing else O_O

I missed the last one, so I can't miss this one... even though that means three days back to back that I'm in the east bay and that pretty much sucks.

/used to go to Mallards when he lived in El Cerrito

2006-02-09 02:50:51 PM
Sweet! Ill be there!

I can damn near walk home from the Mallard these days...

2006-02-09 02:51:49 PM
Pool night. Figures. Got a bye this week, have a pretty important match next week that I can't miss. Oh well, have fun. Maybe I'll make the next one.

2006-02-09 03:11:49 PM
sokeri: /Matt's gonna drive us, right?

He better show up. I forwarded this to him. We can kick his ass if he doesn't.

And yes, sokeri and I will be the obnoxious blondes in the corner. I dunno about the blow, but I've got plenty of ritalin.

2006-02-09 03:47:21 PM
It's actually "Club Mallard". And Fridays/Saturdays suck there anyway, way packed.

/'sup Upright!

2006-02-09 06:59:14 PM
Hey Visualingo, you gonna be there?

Yeah, I thought it was Club Mallard, but I kept seeing Mallard Club online.

2006-02-09 08:55:36 PM
oh, wait, the big guy is gonna be there? well then...

2006-02-10 01:24:03 PM
Cool, my first FARK event. I'll be riding my shiny bicycle up from the PR Berkeley.

2006-02-10 01:24:51 PM
What a sham. East bay? Albany? Pffft.

*South Bay Inferiority Complex*

Sunnyvale forever!
(not SunnyDALE, ya Buffy slaves)

2006-02-10 01:25:12 PM
The Mallard's a great dive - used to frequent it when I lived in Alameda. The party should be a blast.

2006-02-10 01:28:43 PM
For you BART riders, El Cerrito Plaza is closer than North Berkeley BART, and there are also cabs at ECP. Its also a 10 minute (largely well lit) walk from ECP to the Mallard - cut across the shopping plaza heading generally southwest until you emerge on San Pablo. Walk south 3/4 blocks.

/lives down the street, will try to show

2006-02-10 01:33:46 PM
Yeah, I think that I'll stop by and puke in many colors.

2006-02-10 01:35:07 PM
dude that is so Brokeback

Great point -- I'll reiterate this in next week's reminder.

Ahhh... the Mallard. That used to be my favorite place when I transplanted to the Bay back in '99-'00. That brings back the memories...

Can someone check and see if my high-score is still up on Ms. Packman? I'm sure they've reset the machine, but if you see "KID" anywhere on the high score list, then my legend lives on.

(Visualingo, did you say Friday/Saturday is packed there? Wow... the times, they are a changin')

Have Fun all!

2006-02-10 01:43:47 PM
Would love to go, but I'm seeing Norm McDonald that night with another Farker.

Hey, Drew. What about a FARK party in San Jose?? You know, it is the 10th largest city in the U.S.

I feel like Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux... "Hey, we got a couple of Cy Young winners over here"

/San Jose's motto should be "The Littlest Big City in the World"
//Chicks dig the long ball

On behalf of everyone that lives in San Francisco, I will complain about the choice of venue with the following analogy:

Having a San Francisco Bay Area Fark Party and holding it in Albany is akin to having a New York City Fark Party and meeting in Hoboken, NJ. Argue all you want about traffic, convenience, the fact that it's "just across one bridge", etc. It's still Hoboken.

Or Albany, as the case may be.

/nothing against Hoboken

2006-02-10 02:00:23 PM
Wow pretty cool, I grew up not 3 blocks from the Mallard. Anyone complaining that it isnt central enough to the bay area is smoking crack, its walking distance from the el-cerrito plaza bart station.

2006-02-10 02:10:41 PM
Anybody who's dissing the Mallard or Albany because of it's location needs to stop being a whiny b*tch... Albany's nice, the Mallard has a great atmosphere, it's close to Bart/bridge/highway, and the drinks are cheap. Would it be better to have a Fark party in some Martini bar in Frisco with $20 drinks and $30 parking?

Mallard's perfect. And if you come to Chicago, please pick a similar spot (Jebus, not ESPN Zone or Hard Rock Cafe or some yupdified suitspot).

Bite me, haters.

Would it be better to have a Fark party in some Martini bar in Frisco with $20 drinks and $30 parking?

There are plenty of bars with cheap drinks and free parking too. I don't think anyone would suggest the Tonga Room.

And all I'm saying is, when there was a Fark party in New York Area, there was no question that everyone wanted it to be in New York City. When there was a Fark get-together in New Orleans, the meeting actually happened in New Orleans. Yet for some reason, whenever there's a San Francisco Area Fark party, there's a chorus of people who all want it to happen in their little suburb across the Bay somewhere. It's fascinating how far SF Bay Area Farkers will go to avoid actually setting foot in San Francisco.

/BART is pretty convenient to San Francisco too. Just saying. Works both ways.

2006-02-10 02:27:21 PM
Kick ass. I'll be there.

2006-02-10 02:30:43 PM
I guess the whiners won't be coming because it is too inconvenient.... I will come for sure! The rest of us should have a great time!!!

Live in the East Bay on the other side of the tunnel. 30 minutes, max.

2006-02-10 02:38:59 PM
Aeonite.. I smell what you're cooking, but the difference is that in the New York Metropolitan area, New York is more or less central. Same with New Orleans. For the average citizen (especially a public transportation rider), it's easier to get downtown in those areas than some randomly chosen suburb.

But in the Bay, San Francisco proper is probably the hardest place to get to for the average citizen... blame it on geography... If you wanted to chose the most centrally located spot in the Bay Area, it'd probably be somewhere between San Leandro and Hayward, but definately not Frisco.

Unless you live on the peninsula (which most of the SF Bay Area population does not), the Mallard is much easier to get to than some spot in Frisco.

And finding free parking in SF at 7:00 pm on a Thursday? Good luck.. Maybe if you're willing to walk 20 blocks.

2006-02-10 02:41:09 PM
There's so many cool spots in the East Bay, this boggles the mind.

2006-02-10 02:46:10 PM

I guess that's true. I should point out that I never said I wasn't coming, which some other people seemed to assume.

And finding free parking in SF at 7:00 pm on a Thursday? Good luck.. Maybe if you're willing to walk 20 blocks.

Depends on the neighborhood. Downtown? No way. Parts southern? Much easier.

2006-02-10 02:48:27 PM
Thursday?!? Crap.

I already have tickets to be wine tasting
here, and it's kind of a Valentine datey thing, so I can't bail.

/free on Friday the 17th, but no....

2006-02-10 02:48:50 PM
Aonite... Friend?

(I got a little worked up there... I must have some pent up dislike of Frisco that I was unaware of from my days out there)
