"It demeans my degree and everyone else's degree for something like this to be tolerated by an administration that is supposed to care about education. It makes a mockery of the university.''

Good for you. If 'Bubba' can't pass English then 'Bubba' should take his rightful place in the fast food industry instead of making $150M/year for being illiterate.

Hey is this Cliff Yablonski's Appleton City area?

2002-05-23 04:06:13 PM

*scroll scroll scroll* Nice babe in the shirt. Wonderful smile. What was the article about again?

2002-05-23 04:07:28 PM
One more example of Tennessee's inferiority. UCONN Rules

2002-05-23 04:08:10 PM
For instance, in the fall of 1995, athlete No. 9 received an F in a course called "Walking." Athlete No. 20 also flunked "Walking" in the fall of 1998. Athlete No. 14 flunked "Bowling.''

So something that drunk guys from Jersey do on a regular basis is beyond the realm for an "athlete" ?

Grade-fixing. Your tax dollars at work. ***SICKENING***

I'm smitten .... (sigh)

Want to touch the hiney...

If only EVERY article was a SBB article.

2002-05-23 04:10:28 PM
So in other words, University of Tennesee atheletes are too stupid to visit Fark ? Then I say Fark you UT atheletes, may your future be limited, and when you finally join the real world, may your McDonald's aprons be clean !!!

2002-05-23 04:10:47 PM
Shouldn't all SBB articles have an obligatory 8008135 tag?

"athlete No. 2 had a grade of F changed to an A in Psychology 489 (Supervised Research)."

at first i was like, a football player in Psych 489? but the supervised research tag says it all. obviously a dressed-up busy-work assignment. and then the guy didnt even show up, the prof tried to flunk him, and the F made it up a step or two on the ladder before someone in the athletic dept.'s pocket got to it.

2002-05-23 04:12:18 PM
How would he be able to get to class if he hadn't taken the course yet?

2002-05-23 04:14:33 PM
05-23-02 04:11:30 PM Spookypocket
I would have flunked out of college if it wasn't for my exceptional cheating skills.

BTDT. Programmable calculators are great for math and science courses. ;-)

Why is there even a pretense of these guys being students? If they have a game they can tell the professor they have to take a test later, but they can't tell the coach they'll miss practice because they have to cram for a biology lab exam.

No wonder so many of these guys end up sucking dick for crack.

And they can't play women's basketball either. Especially if you are coached by Pat "Sumbiatch" Summit. Uconn women are scholar athletes. Tenn Sucks, Duke Sucks.

Prof: "Welcome to Arts & Humanities 102 - Music Appreciation; now, would you like to hear some music?"

Jock: "I'd appreciate that!"

2002-05-23 04:15:32 PM
It makes a mockery of the university.
naw, losing two years in a row to UGA deos that!

(ducking)
ha ha ha!
Go Dawgs!!

2002-05-23 04:17:04 PM
Universities should just be upfront about the situation and not make them even take classes. Treat it like a job, pay them, hell pay them well. Just don't give them a degree when their four years is up. They would just have to weigh the risk.

2002-05-23 04:17:11 PM
I must of failed the "Upright" part of the walking thing.

2002-05-23 04:20:15 PM
Oops I meant He must of failed the "Upright" part of the walking thing.

Sorry I failed English.

2002-05-23 04:21:39 PM
Walking can be very scary.

I'd be more worried if they flunked Date Rape 101.

2002-05-23 04:23:06 PM
Well thin'k of it thi's way, if they dont make it in athletic's they can certainly get job's with the as'sociated pres's.

2002-05-23 04:24:54 PM
Thirdrail: "have," not "of." F-

2002-05-23 04:27:26 PM
Thirdrail: Are you sure you don't mean "He must have failed the "upright" part of the walking thing?"

Spookypocket, I not know. I just know I suck at spelling and grammer. Thank god for my math/computer skills or I'd be diggin ditches.

2002-05-23 04:39:55 PM
Okay, so I'm not the only one who fell asleep and woke up looking at these strange TotalFark tags. Neat-o. Don't have the dough yet for my own, tho.

2002-05-23 04:40:17 PM
Wait a second, don't you mean: "Have," not ,"when," |of ;:'haven't'""!&

2002-05-23 04:40:49 PM
The all new maxi-fark tampon Now just wash and re-use.

2002-05-23 04:42:02 PM
I failed walking once. Going down the concrete front steps in sandels proved dangerous to my health. Broke my foot. Day before school started. Joy.

2002-05-23 04:42:23 PM
Not the slightest bit surprised. J. Wade Gilley only likes the press when they're saying nice things about them. He obstructs every attempt at investigative reporting about his administration, and will take every opportunity possible to screw over campus media.

Case in point: While he was president of Marshall University (my alma mater) the student newspaper made the very controversial decision of printing the name of the alleged rape victim.

Gilley sent his cronies to retrieve every single copy of the paper after it was distributed, and formed an oversight board that had to review every single story that went into the paper or was reported on the college radio station.

The faculty of the journalism school took him to court over it, and one. (And was given a Defender of the 1st Amendment award by the Society of Professional Journalists as a result.)

2002-05-23 04:43:08 PM
Er, they WON, rather. Not one. (I really wish there were an edit option for comments on here.)

2002-05-23 04:44:20 PM
"...student-athletes..."

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*collapses due to lack of oxygen*

2002-05-23 04:44:50 PM
Yes, UCONN athletes are students first, athletes second (at least the women). Pat Sumbiatch needs to check and see what her girls are doing... YUP, Duke sucks, Tennessee sucks. I have to be careful about what I say about UGA - my family is down there. So, "Look at them Dawgs!!"

2002-05-23 04:45:07 PM
*prays for mouth-to-mouth from several SbB girls*

2002-05-23 04:45:12 PM
At least he didn't fail something important, like Breathing.

2002-05-23 04:45:42 PM
Oh sure. Pick on my spelling. :(

2002-05-23 04:45:49 PM
Why do Tennessee Fans where Orange?

So after the game they can pick up trash on the side of the road, and have still have time to go huntin'

2002-05-23 04:48:24 PM
I used to be a star athlete at my school. I missed a test one time and my coaches said they would square it out with my professor. I never took another test in that class and I still got an A. This is not my fault. I am the victim here. I was deprived of my rightful education. I should have bin allowed to take that class and pass or fale the classes by my self. What they did was incorrect.

2002-05-23 04:48:29 PM
It's okay. It's just that it was the only comment I got back all day.

2002-05-23 04:48:51 PM
ah yes, another excellent pic of an amazing SbB girl...
and some words above her, what were those again?

2002-05-23 05:02:46 PM
not just one, but two of them failed walking. it kind of reminds me of a guy I went to college with who was on the football squad. he hated it, but his parents essentially made him play. anyway, we used to joke about how he'd fail classes like that (he didn't; actually a pretty bright guy) like tv history. "I failed my TV class. I forgot to watch 'I Love Lucy.'" on the other hand, I heard that a guy I went to high school with, also pretty bright, somehow managed to fail a film appreciation class.

2002-05-23 05:07:47 PM
So they actually flunked an athelete. A real scandal would be passing a guy who never showed up for class.

2002-05-23 05:17:35 PM
The final in "Walking" was to walk while chewing gum.
