Crackin' headline

2006-02-04 09:06:44 PM
Trifecta? Barry White, Rob Pilatus, Betty Friedan?

2006-02-04 09:06:55 PM
And in a sign that farkers are mostly apathetically misogynistic men, there are no comments.

Great headline.

Have you seen her? This is one ugly woman. Inside and out. How she managed to have children is a mystery to me.

Would that be the trifecta of bitter old bats?

Just wondering...

hahaha such a great headline

Her book was one of the ten most harmful of the 19th and 20th centuries!

I liked the one headline which said she went "to the great kitchen in the sky."

It's times like these I wish I had TotalFark, because you just know there are at least ten good headlines that didn't quite make it.

I'm not sure where I stand on this headline. Should we really salute her passing with mysoginistic jokes at her expense?

Its just kinda like saying a passed away holocaust survivor is taking a trip to the big gas chamber in the sky.

/Godwinned?

2006-02-04 09:13:30 PM
Trifecta? Janet Reno isn't dead.

Thanks for the reading list!! As well as a list of authors to NEVER read, i.e., the "judges."

WTF? Are some of you confusing Friedan for Dworkin, here?

even this feminist thinks the headline is funny...sometimes you have to go to extremes to make a point...sometimes those extremes are farking hilarious

I do like the Kitchen in the Sky headline. Way better than this one, which kinda straddles the offensive.

LIKE THE WAY I STRADDLED HER OFFENSIVE, AM I RIGHT?

2006-02-04 09:18:31 PM
You know, N. S. Radieaux , I'm sort of surprised that they didn't include Uncle Tom's Cabin , given the list.

2006-02-04 09:18:38 PM
shouldn't this get the boobies tag?

/would go better with headline
//going to some strange hell for sure

2006-02-04 09:18:45 PM
Submitter is so bad. :)

As a feminist I find the headline funny. Taken as a joke, anyhow.

But seriously, Betty Friedan is a farking hero to me and should be to any woman who lives today, and indeed to men as well. She was a giant in the women's rights movement, and regardless of how ignorant you are of feminism (it's actually pretty simple: goal of equality of opportunity between men & women) l think you should appreciate the immense impact of her work... Fark is overwhelmingly male but, think of the women in your lives. I have no doubt that they are for the most part strong, intelligent, awesome women with opportunities to seek out their definition of their personal happiness in their lives and careers, and without Betty Friedan and the early second-wave feminists of her generation, we wouldn't have those opportunities.

/an appreciation
//don't really need to slash though, eh.

2006-02-04 09:19:11 PM
That was the greatest headline ever. Perfection.

2006-02-04 09:20:13 PM
I liked Feminist author Betty Friedan passes away at age 85, not stuck in bat form either because of the call back.

2006-02-04 09:20:33 PM
Good one, Submitter. That headline merited the read-out-loud to explain what the hell I'm laughing at.

Equating the holocaust with the Western woman's movement is to equate death camps with social marginalization, hardly the same.

I think you just godwinned the thread...

A little perspective anyone?

Kudos, submitter. Probably one of the best headlines I've read in a while. And by they way, bobbette, if you want equality you have to be elegible for the draft ;)

2006-02-04 09:25:24 PM
Great headline.

2006-02-04 09:25:49 PM
Brah wins the thread. Fark is fun, but the pathetic locker-room lameness gets increasingly old after awhile. Friedan and her ilk made the world a better place for my daughter, who will take no crap from any loser guys, ever. You know who I mean.

/yes, you

2006-02-04 09:26:05 PM
Great headline.

And I think she's a hero. Where does that put me?

.

2006-02-04 09:26:54 PM
I concider myself a feminist, but I laughed good and hard at that headline. Should I turn in my card?

2006-02-04 09:26:58 PM
Good one, submitter. She'd probably have laughed, too.

2006-02-04 09:28:20 PM
g'dam

she'd scare a dog off a meat wagon with that kisser

/yipes

Because of that last bit in the headline, she will be waiting for you in the afterlife, submitter.

2006-02-04 09:29:51 PM
BTW, I thought NARAL was the National Abortion Rights Action League.

2006-02-04 09:30:44 PM
DistendedPendulusFrenulum: I think that just means you have a sense of humor. All the bullshiat aside, most feminists strike me as down to earth. They all aren't the radical "men=bad" types. I think Friedan probably would have gotten a chuckle out of the headline.
