The best Jerry Springer show was about 10 years ago when he did one with a "KKK family." Mom, dad and kids all came out in their sheets marching together giving a sieg heil. It was nuts.

The AP article is wrong...This was reported last week.
It was originally in the Daily Herald which takes in most of DuPage, parts of Cook and Lake counties.
They listed the kids ages at 2,4 and 6.
Still no excuse and both should have been sentenced.

I read the other day that the oldest was 4. Not that it makes any difference, of course.

Well luckily, this story is from IL. While the lower western part of IL might want to think theyre part of St. Louis, theyre more like St. Louis' dirty cousin that you want nothing to do with.

I have a 2, 4 and 5 year old and I don't even leave them in the house alone to take the trash down the hill. SO many things can go wrong in a short amount of time. This woman needs the kids taken and placed in a better home. If she was willing to go to a taping and leave them, imagine how many times she has left them alone to go shopping or whatever.

This woman might be an asshat, but I have to ask... who decides how old is too young for a kid to stay home alone?

Obviously it is not left up to the parent to decide when their children are mature enough to be left alone!

So where does it say in the law how young a child it is okay to leave alone? Do parents risk having their children taken away by some overzealous prosecutor when they are 15 and allowed to stay home alone?

I think we can all agree that 3 or even 6 is waaaaaay too young.

I was left alone when I was 10. I've known other kids I wouldn't leave alone at 13.

Parents are supposed to know better. Doesn't mean they do.

My parents didn't start letting me and my younger sister stay home by ourselves until I was 10 or 11 and she was 9 or 10.

They also made sure we knew what to do in an emergency.
