Odd.. i heard them talking about seeing that on NPR, when they were discussing the photographs taken for the collection. I wonder if this inspired someone to raid the area and take it.

2002-05-21 02:55:18 PM

Anyone else find it odd that the FBI is sifting through the rubble for human remains at "Fresh Kills Landfill"?

But what happened to all the bodies? How can they not even find parts of the victims? It is so sad for those families that don't even get anything back.

For you Farkettes

i understand why Cantor Fitzgerald wouldn't comment on the art collection and it's value...if they were to bring that kind of subject up after losing around 2/3rds of their staff in the attack it would seem pretty cruel...none the less i can see some bigwig gripping at his toupee wanting to get these little art works back but can't say a damn thing...

The remains of many are believed to have been incinerated by
the fire. Remember, the largest number of them were above the
floors that were struck. The fire also continued to burn for over a month, iirc. Any remains that were near the center would have continued to be affected by the fire.

Some are believed to have been [pardon the gruesomeness] ground up by the debris as it fell. [Some x,000 feet].

In light of the hundreds of employees lost, I would hate to be the reporter that asked about the value of the collection of art replicas. I would LOVE, however, to be the representative who got to violently refuse to comment to that reporter.

Reporter: What was the value of your art collection?
Me:
Families of victims:

Bah, stupid not supposed to be html tags:

Every time I see a mention of the "Fresh Kills" landfill in New York I chuckle.

Did anyone think before allowing that?

Might as well have called it the "Dump Yer Mob Hits Here" landfill

HA!

I scrolled by took a glance and thought it was JFK. Then I read your message and looked again. I'm not sure but it looks like JFK to me.

Maybe if JFK was wearing one of those in Dallas the bullet wouldn't have gone clean through his big ol' potato-noggin!

So what. It's a cast. The real one is in Paris.

The large statues of the Thinker are all cast from smaller models. They're all copies, real copies, not forgeries. One is at the Garden of Rodin in Paris, and another is on the back lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museam in Kansas City. I don't know where the others ended up, but the one lost in NYC was indeed a "real" one.

AnonyMouse: It looks like JFK to me, too. Or maybe Robert. I dunno. One of the Kennedys, anyway.

This should say "SAD" instead of strange.

A 28-inch bronze cast of Rodin's most famous work fell to earth after terrorists slammed a jetliner into the north tower on September 11.

Why do they always have to state the fact that there was an attack? Jeezums Christ, we know! As if someone would be sitting there saying "why the hell were they looking for it in rubble? Did the WTC collapse or something?"

2002-05-21 06:13:02 PM
instead of "strange" why not "sad"

2002-05-21 06:14:12 PM
Jabooty - I know exactly what you mean!! It's really irritating....it's like, "blah blah was discovered after September 11th, in which two American Airline 747's were hijacked by foreign terrorists who had learned to fly planes in Florida flight schools who then took control over the planes and proceeded to steer them into the WTC causing....". You get my point. And I get theirs. Instead of just talking about what happened...maybe they should try showing it more often to stir up the emotions again of the public. I know from my perspective, seeing the plane hit the WTC does a lot more to stir my emotions than just hearing about it.

2002-05-21 08:25:30 PM
I have put a lot of thought into this, and I still don't care.

2002-05-22 02:24:20 AM
Michael Skakel took it so he could hit people over the head with it and kill them.
