These things are pretty boring until GigantoFly gets a word of them. Anyone got his number?

2006-01-18 09:09:30 AM
So did this cost us 100 Million dollars?

2006-01-18 09:10:03 AM
is it just a problem with the site or is it pitch black right now?

2006-01-18 09:10:22 AM
I like looking at a black screen.

2006-01-18 09:11:20 AM
Holodigm

That's what you get for 100 million dollars. If we wanted it to work, we would have had to pay Halliburton 500 million dollars.

2006-01-18 09:11:51 AM
No no, that's the ass of Isaac Hayes

2006-01-18 09:12:43 AM

2006-01-18 09:13:59 AM
none more black

2006-01-18 09:14:07 AM
If you payed more taxes the sun would come out earlier in Alaska.

2006-01-18 09:14:25 AM
For those who are trying to figure out why it is black, I should point out that this is in Fairbanks. I'm pretty sure its still dark.

/kinda thought that was obvious
//even without the morning coffee

2006-01-18 09:14:42 AM
Given that it's 5AM (according to the datestamp) and it's Alaska, yes, it would be dark.

2006-01-18 09:15:42 AM
It's night time, Holodigm, sun doesn't rise for a bit.

2006-01-18 09:15:55 AM
I think its black because its still currently night in alaska. I think they only get 2 hours or so of daylight at this time of year. Also I doubt there's much artificial lighting in remote areas. I think a volcano in Alaska is about as remote as you can get.

/I recommend looking up sunrise times for alaska

2006-01-18 09:20:23 AM
So where's the cool panel where you can turn the lights on and off and make it blow up and stuff?

2006-01-18 09:21:38 AM
Isn't a volcano suppose to spew magma and lava and stuff? Doesn't that stuff... I don't know, glow? They never heard of IR or NV lenses? No flood light? Don't they have scientists there studying it and stuff, don't they usually set up a battery of lights?

2006-01-18 09:22:42 AM
DUH!! It's winter in Alaska! No Sun until spring.

It's always darkest before it's completely black.

Nah, evil Eskimos stole the camera and fed it to a polar bear. It's always dark inside of a polar bear.

Why was this greenlit during the night?

2006-01-18 10:07:23 AM
Tonight's forecast call for darkness in the early evening, continuing darkness through the evening, then scattered light towards morning ...

/loves me the Hippie-Dippy Weatherman, man

2006-01-18 10:09:40 AM
Why was this greenlit during the night?

Could have something to do with the fact that it just blew up yesterday morning. And will probably blow up again bigger real soon.

There's all that "CODE RED! DANGER DANGER!" stuff all over the reports.

What the heck's an instant greenlight?

trappedspirit: What the heck's an instant greenlight?

A greenlight that occurs shortly after the submission to the queue. TFers don't have much time to comment, so they end to hit the main page without any comments.

I still like Dino inside the crater in an NZ volcano from a while back.
