Checking the other news on that site you will also find that a student acctually did taunt the dynamite monkey.

"It wasn't immediately known how or why she got stuck"

Some may say hips too big. some flute, too small. Either way, I am guessing the reason why she was stuck, is because she didnt fit.

2006-01-17 10:27:31 AM
That says North Hollywood. Seeing as I live in Van Nuys and snobbishly call myself in Sherman Oaks, I call shenanigans.

2006-01-17 10:28:20 AM
I wonder how she feels about showing her asscrack on the news.

2006-01-17 10:31:01 AM
The video wont play for me for some reason. Was she hittable?

2006-01-17 10:32:08 AM
Hittable like a bad child.

Fark needs a "Van Nuys" and/or a "San Fernando Valley" tag.

/Seriously.

I hereby declare a moratorium on headlines featuring the formula:

"Today's _____ brought to you by _____"

They're tired, overused, and not funny.

2006-01-17 12:27:00 PM
Why does this sound like a euphamism for something that would also require a midget with a Camera and cheesy slap funk bass music from the 70s.

Van Nuys = Pr0n filiming capital of the world, since there are a lot of nice middle class/upper class looking homes for rent.

/slashy.

2006-01-17 12:29:56 PM
What's mysterious is why any house in Van Nuys would have a chimney in the first place. It never gets cold enough there to build a fire, for cryin' out loud.

/loving the 2 degrees F. not.

Hanky: That says North Hollywood. Seeing as I live in Van Nuys and snobbishly call myself in Sherman Oaks, I call shenanigans.

...as opposed to living in North Hollywood, and snobbishly call yourself in Valley Village and/or West Toluca Lake?

Hi neighbor.

Why not "Lake Balboa". Sounds great until you realize it's a giant pool of greywater. Just don't tell the ducks.

AP says NoHo, video says Van Nuys, whatcha' gonna do?

What I want to know is WTF are these people thinking that they get stuck in a chimney?

2006-01-17 01:44:51 PM
another person "stuck in a chimney" story......waiting for the crazy cat lady story.....the old guy collecting junk in his yard for years...... the dead guy getting a tax bill....a two year old getting a letter for jury duty...the stupid guy calling the cops because someone broke into his house and took his weed.

Did I miss any of these stories we see over and over again?

I'm impressed no one used this thread as an opportunity to post Phoebe Cates pics.

There are new houses built around the corner which are called "Lake Balboa Meadows" or some shiat. Still a Van Nuys zip code..

The report said it was near Sherman Way and Ethel...isn't that in Van Nuys?? I thought that NoHo starts east of Coldwater Canyon. Or is that Valley Village?

I never knew there were so many fellow farkers living in the SFV. Sadly, I went through high school during the Valley Girl craze. Din't affect my school all that much, but I pity those who went to Taft H.S. (Ground Zero for Val-speak) As for me?

Kennedy H.S. Class of '84.

Why there is a fireplace in the first place? The Valley, of all things.

I did live in Van Nuys one year...across the street from Whole Foods (the former Mrs Gooch's). Our upstairs neighbor was some two-bit adult movie actress, and one day, the film crew went upstairs and filmed whatever it was from her apartment.

rworne: Kennedy H.S. Class of '84.

Class of '97 for me.

Since I live nearby, I stopped by a few years after the quake. The Northridge quake kicked the crap outta that school. My locker was on the 3rd floor of the "A" building - which was torn down (or fell down) after the quake. They redid the PE area, and I only see hints of the "old Kennedy HS" there now.

rworne--

My locker was in the "A" building as well. Lucky that there were only textbooks in it.

When Kennedy reopened, lockers were no longer in use and the Nutrition period was abolished. For years, we'd use those bungalows.

Do you remember...
Mr Hazard and the woodshop?
Mr Taylor?
Mr Phillips and his hoarse voice?

Ah yes. You were '97? I keep forgetting HS is 4 years now.

I don't remember the names of many of my teachers, except for a few. I remember "Mr. Hazard" just 'cause of the funny association of the last name and a shop class. I remember Mr. Hall, who was in charge of the cheerleaders. He was an expert of the "upskirt shot" - that is, all his "action shots" were high kicks and nearly 100% of his photos were 'action shots.

Even more odd is that I remember my Jr. High school teachers over at Porter JHS much better. I lost all my yearbooks in the quake, so I have nothing to look over anymore.
