Rick Santorum agrees.

Look, if unmarried gals who are determined to get pregnant cant go to clinics, theyll get the job done the old-fashioned way: a bar, some tequila and a randy guy with good genes.

If this bill causes that to happen more often, I think I'm actually for it ;)

I don't think you needed to specify "Republican legislator" in the headline, Submitter. It's redundant--when legislation as wacky as this comes along, it is ever not a Republican wack-job who pushes it?

Certainly not all Republican legislators are insane, but it seems that all insane legislators are Republican (at least now that Zell Miller has retired).

I like TFA's headline better than Submitter's.

1. Find single mom
2. Add tequila
3. wait for it...
4. Backdoor action!

Please people, vote idiots like this out of office when they are up for reelection. They really makes us look like dolts.

From a standpoint based purely on negativity and cynicism,
I agree with him. If a woman can't get married, it's probably for a good reason. I also like the idea of injecting a little more natural selection into our society.

"In other words, Marshalls bill, if passed, could encourage women to pick up strangers in bars and have unprotected sex in order to conceive. Not exactly family values."

no, but it would be a win-win situation for Farkers.

Well duh. You guys DO know that lesbians use artificial insemination to procreate, right? We have to stop the lesbians.

RTFA, asshat. He's also trying to stop colleges from distributing the morning-after pill.

Also, what about the widowed women who wish to have children? Yeah, seems like there's a good reason!

Do us a favor, lynch yourself.

Don't forget about the gay marriage thing. Gay people = single as far as the law is concerned. I doubt he even cares about single moms.

Republicans love this moral war they've started. Its too bad that they're as human as the next politician when it comes to corruption.

Why people are SO desperate to get knocked up is beyond me, but why the lawmakers think they should have something to do with it is even further beyond me.

The lesbian couple isn't REALLY procreating. One of them is procreating with someone else.

Also. Don't try to counter anything I've said. Or i'll meet your arguments with irrational responses. You can't argue with irrationality, thats the best part about it.

Not at all saying I support it, but the article is all flamebait and no fact. What is the real reason this guy is proposing this bill? Medical issues with in-vitro fertilization, maybe (I admit I know nothing about the topic)?

The number of people affected by such legislation is so minimal as to be lost in the noise of the population.

Things might come around in 2006-8. Think of the nightmarish law, horrible scotus, few trillion dollars and the animosity of the whole planet as a tough life lesson.

Technically, you're correct. They're not farking and making a baby. But they are having a child together.

2006-01-12 06:31:51 PM
Why should it be the government's business at all? I hardly think that any politician is in a position to be critical of anybody else's morals.

TheJollyMunchkin: Seems you *did* touch a nerve. Not sure why - you pretty much announced that you were trolling.

2006-01-12 06:32:35 PM
I've got an even better idea - everyone is forced to marry and have children at the age of 18. All match-making is done by lottery. Penalty for attempting to avoid this law is death.

There, ya happy now?

Why dont we refine it farther, and just breed humans based on desirable traits?!

That seems to have worked in the past.

Well except the cute lesbians, they can go about their buisness. preferably with me and a video camera on hand.

There are women who don't want to get married, aren't gay and don't particularly want a man to enter into the picture of their baby's life. It's none of that senator's business if someone wants to have a baby.

2006-01-12 06:36:06 PM
Actually. I have a plan:

Every unmarried woman who has a baby gives it to me.

Then I can kill the babies, and play games with their internal organs!

It's a win-win situation!

TheJollyMunchkin: Seems you *did* touch a nerve.

So no one thinks chainsaw juggling is a good punchline? OK it's back to tapdancing monkeys then.

lighten up, NS jokes are pedestrian turnabout, but hey.

I sort of agree. I think the poor fellow's reasoning is from some Right to Life argument against all artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization. It goes something to the effect that embryos are destroyed in the process so it's killing.

Doesn't make much sense to me, just saying though.

But it IS their biological duty to NOT have a baby. So it's humanity's business, not just the senator's.
