Well shiat! I wish someone would have told me that a long time ago. No wonder I can't ski worth a shiat.

....just ask sonny bono

2006-01-06 09:37:41 AM
I love doing most things drunk. The only thing I can't do drunk is stay sober.

2006-01-06 09:38:46 AM
I concur.

David Wells has admitted that he pitched his best game ever while on LSD.

I snowboarded while having a pretty good buzz last week...the two don't mix all that well, especially if you are going fast or in the trees.

Amateur... if you just go limp, you'll bounce off the trees unharmed.

2006-01-06 09:55:12 AM
That's why you have to practice!

Look between the trees, not at them.

IamPatSajak: sonny bono

Not sure about him, but it really got the Kennedy cousin. Which one was that? Skiing drunk is hard enough, but playing football while skiing drunk is harder.

I drink and ski. Never have a problem. In fact, I do some skiing (moguls) much better after a few beers. I do try to avoid drinking before racing, although I haven't raced for the last two years.

I think you guys are thinking of Doc Ellis.

No. You just think you do. I can't ski worth a shiat after drinking any beer. (Well, maybe one with lunch is ok.)

Skiing on LSD is crazy fun.

Or so I've heard.

Why do you think wineskins were invented?

/Bought a wineskin years before I bought my first helmet.

Wells was just hungover. Doc Ellis was the pitcher who threw the perfect game on LSD.

2006-01-06 11:05:58 AM
You thought the Kennedys did it for the sport?

2006-01-06 11:06:10 AM
Hmm...I usually do everything better when I'm drunk...

I've ridden horses while extremely drunk, and it's a lot of fun. You have nuts of steel and will jump anything in your path. On the flipside, the two most serious falls I've had have both been when I was extremely drunk. Not hurting yourself because you're relaxed only works some of the time.

2006-01-06 11:08:42 AM
i'll second that!

For Gods sake, don't carry bottles with you. We had a guy fall and mess himself up pretty bad a few years ago.

Bode Miller used to wakeboard on Lake Bomozene in Vt. He was wicked, and wakeboarding while drunk is pretty hard too.

And-1 the problem is riding up the lifts tripping - very scary!

Are there any Winter Sports where it's not more fun to do them drunk?

/Hence Curling, Hockey, and Snowboarding?

Miller, the defending World Cup overall champion and a two-time silver medalist at the Salt Lake City Olympics, was also blase about the possibility of winning gold in Turin.

Uhhhmmm, when did they decide to move the Olympics from Torino? Perhaps the reporter is reporting drunk, and/or editor is editing drunk...?
