I understand free enterprise...

but even I wouldn't sell something with such poor taste as that lighter - not even as a gag.

I'm sure you'll get the attention you're after.

2006-01-05 09:15:09 PM
People, let us please ignore this guy and not give him the attention he's after. Thanks.

2006-01-05 11:24:59 PM
Mmm...here's betting the dyes in that TP aren't hypoallergenic. Just one more way for us to be a pain in the ass.

/the jokes, they write themselves

2006-01-05 11:25:51 PM
Oh look, another Ontario/Canadian trying to get rich by belittling Americans. How 2005. Hey, Johnny AssCanuck... my effective tax rate here is the USA is 23%. I pay no state income tax. Think of that when you get your T-4 this year. I have a better health plan than my brother in Canada, and never wait for medical services. So why don't you kiss my converted to American ass.

Fortunately, it's only Ontario Liberals that have this anti-American tilt to the left in Canada. And the odd fruit and nut in Vancouver.

2006-01-05 11:39:07 PM
Poor taste sure, but isn't the worst of humor in poor taste ? I mean this guy is great in that he can elicit such a response from fellow Farkers.

2006-01-06 01:45:05 AM
I, being an American, also being as about as digruntled as any American I know, finds this stuff about as stupid you can get. This guys sales will tell the tale. Offer me a urinal puck with Chimpy McFlightsuits image on it and I may consider a purchase. But as a nation in general, I'd like to think we are all about as disgusted with ourselves as you are...just bear with us. In time we will rebuild as something respectable. But offering a product that pokes fun at the death of thousands is more than desevering of a cockpunch than I have ever witnessed. Go fark yourself and choke upon a maple leaf while you are at it.

2006-01-06 03:09:06 AM
Ok, you Americans can get all annoyed about the flag thing... Me? I'm more annoyed with the whole $9 for a roll of TP. I mean, come on, I can get 12 rolls for that at the local supermarket. And that's the good 3-ply stuff, not the cheapy crap.

/back to your "america bashing is for losers" spiel

2006-01-06 08:07:49 AM
I feel sad for anyone pathetic enough to come up with those products. If I had such a blind and rabid hatred for something like this designer/marketer/whatever does, then I would consider psychological help.

/for their beadly little eyes and flappin' heads so full of lies!

2006-01-06 08:43:31 AM
Well, this promises to become a very popular thread.

For asswipes on both sides.

2006-01-06 09:30:02 AM
Hmm. Apparently it's so popular that in the 6.5hrs since I made my original post, the price has gone up $1. Who'd have thought.

Ok, own up, who actually bought this crap?

2006-01-06 12:04:50 PM
There really is only two kinds of people associated with this product:

The dumbass that is making 'American Flag Toilet Paper'

The dumbass that's buying 'American Flag Toilet Paper' for $10 a roll.

2006-01-06 12:55:25 PM
Feh. I had street peddlers in Vietnam trying to sell me the exact same lighter two years ago. Now if they were selling Ariel Sharon lighters with special Flip-Open Cranium Action, then you're on to something.

As for the flag toilet paper, who cares? Right now, my toilet paper has little blue flowers printed on it. Are all you flower-lovers outraged that I wipe my ass with your precious flora? What's the difference whether my toilet paper has pictures of flowers, crossword puzzles, the Yankees logo, Jesus, or even the flag on it? Are you incapable of separating the symbol from the thing it represents?

2006-01-06 03:59:15 PM
I just don't want to get a bunch of colors smeared on my culo.

2006-01-06 05:48:11 PM
Front to back or back to front? It makes a difference you know.

2006-01-06 06:58:11 PM
Not tasteless enough or witty enough to be humorous.

Besides, the guy's just pissed that he lives in North Mexico.

2006-01-06 07:10:21 PM
Pffft. Sell me something usefull - like a nut rag with a beautiful naked woman on it.

2006-01-07 12:33:58 PM
Actually, I think its ironically quite American.

I mean, what's more American then making a buck off of other people's irrational emotions?

Sell on, American Flag toilet paper guy, I bet you give to the Bush campaign.

He is probably just mad that they caught him trying to sneak over and sent him back.

2006-01-07 01:07:34 PM
Wow, just looked at the lighter.

What an asshat.

2006-01-07 04:36:58 PM
Y'know, this is pretty stupid, but I know someone who would just LOVE a roll of american flag TP.

2006-01-07 04:42:02 PM
Can I say without fear of reprisal from the moderators:

Dumb service!

2006-01-07 11:51:56 PM
Crookedx

I just don't want to get a bunch of colors smeared on my culo.

But these colors don't run!

on another note to the submitter:

Making fun (or disrespecting) of all the US just because of the stupid Bush admin is same erronious logic that Bush administration uses. So, yeah if you want to show that you can be just as stupid as the Americans that rename "French fries" to "Freedom Fries" go ahead and have your stupidity battle. Toliet paper with the pictures of the Bush administration on the other hand now that would be funny.

2006-01-08 02:18:05 AM
Or you can love your country but not only hate the Bush admin, but outdated ideas like flags.

I'm a homo sapien. I have an analytical mind. I can seperate the good from the bad and find enough to like about America without some arbitrary symbol used to manipulate my sympathies.

/flag worship is stupid
/wouldn't spend $10 to wipe my ass with it though

2006-01-08 02:42:34 AM
"Hey buddy, my daddy died for that flag."

"Really? Cause... I bought mine. Yeah, they sell them at K Mart."

"He died in the Korean War."

"Wow, what a coincidence, mine was made in Korea."

/Bill Hicks

2006-01-08 05:15:06 AM
Ugh, poor taste indeed. It's not even funny in a sick, black comedy sort of way. (talking about the lighter)

The TP is just stupid.

They need to print the Constitution on some of that there ass-wipe, and then send it to the White House.

Let me guess - "Made in China".

Or else it's made from those lovely trees.

They already have those, been using them for quite some time.

i think the real question is, will it wipe side to side?

2006-01-09 01:18:44 AM
Man, who cares? I personally don't give a crap about 9/11 (more specifically the fact that we did it to ourselves) or the flag. This guy got the response he desired.

Move on. 9/11 was as much US fault as the holocaust was. We created both.

Anyone who buys that crap will get what they deserve. Someone gave me some bin laden toilet paper as a gag gift christmas of '01. I kind of threw it in the back of a bathroom cabinet and forgot about it for a few years until a couple of months ago, when I discovered a little to late that a roommate had used the last roll of toilet paper without restocking. I then remembered ol' osama in the other cabinet and went to town with him.

I have no allergies, I've never gotten a rash off something before, and never though I had a particularly sensitive ass, but the horrors that TP enflicted on me, which took a solid 2 weeks to get past will never be forgotten.

I get nervous now if I am in a bathroom and they have so much as a flower printed on the TP.

2006-01-10 03:31:57 AM
Hey Danger Mouse, you have e-mail.

2006-01-10 09:32:04 AM
Thanks KI_No_Ichi.

Guys, as much as this guy has a "right" to sell or Freedom of speech, I'm suprised at the silence about this. Someone has taken the symbol of your country and wants to make money selling it to wipe your butt, and Farkers respsonse is "Meh".

I was raised differntly. I will speak up and say I disapprove of this and am insulted, to say the least.

I wonder if people would so quiet if the product had, say the Israeli flag on it? or an image of a black American?

Seems it's passe' these days to show respect for the symbol of our country.

I appologize for blasting Drew in my previous post. I am extreamly dissapointed that Fark took adverstising money for this, but wish I expressed my frustration a bit better.

2006-01-10 09:38:13 AM
And more people seem to be upset with me for using my freedom of speech to voice displeasure with the product, than with the guy who's selling it.

huh.

Sad.

heh, just a little tiny bit of hypocrisy there after saying that the mods should remove the add for its anti-american nature...

Now honestly, who gives a shiat if somebodys wiping thier ass on your American flag. I wouldnt give a shiat if anyone would like to use my flag as toilet paper either. Its just a goddamn piece of cloth.

Where;s the hypocrasy? A private company such as FARK can choose to accept or decline advertsing of a questionable nature. I voiced my objection.

Where as you see a "Goddamn piece of cloth" I see the symbol of my country, it's history, the people.

/What's that over your head? Oh, it's just my point.

2006-01-10 12:20:45 PM
Danger Mouse: I refer you back to the closing line of my post above.

The symbol of your country is just that-- a symbol. People who attach undue significance to a symbol can wind up looking pretty silly. Remember the flag-burning debates of the early '90s, when some legislators proposed a constitutional amendment to prohibit the destruction of anything with a flag motif? They wanted no more flag-patterned t-shirts, no birthday cakes with a representation of the flag on it, etc. That's silly.

I thought an art installation on the subject was pretty interesting: the artist spread a flag on the floor, and above it, placed a book in which you were invited to write your thoughts about the whole thing. Of course, to be able to write in the book, you had to stand on the flag. Do you desecrate the symbol of your country in order to exercise the rights that symbol represents? Or do you defer so much to the symbol that you are prevented from exercising your rights?

2006-01-10 12:51:54 PM
Well I guess to you I look pretty silly. Uzzah

2006-01-10 02:13:39 PM
Uzzah: Answer, go ahead and walk on it to write in the book. As soon as it touched the ground it was desecrated and should be disposed of the only way that is proper for the colors, by burning it.

The mods did delete posts. Danger Mouse wins. The terrorists have won.

2006-01-10 03:06:04 PM
Scape. the ads stand. They deleted a post where i was less than polite to Drew Curtis for recieving money for hosting this product.

Thanks for calling me a terrorist. Hey, maybe we should drape the coffins of fallen sericemen in used toilet paper? Sound good to you?

2006-01-10 03:19:29 PM
Hey, Johnny AssCanuck... my effective tax rate here is the USA is 23%....blah, blah, blah....

Dude....do I even know you?

Freakin' weirdos in this place!

2006-01-10 05:42:58 PM
Damn... and I thought I had the market cornered on unfunny, ignorant political thought.

My grandfather served in 3 wars... fought in two and was a drill seargent for a third... He loved his flag, because he loved his country... but its important to note that he fought for his country, not the flag.

That said, I'll support the burning or desecration of the flag while making a serious political statement. This doesn't even come close. Asshat!

2006-01-10 07:34:13 PM
As soon as it touched the ground it was desecrated and should be disposed of

Not so. The generally accepted but unofficial rules for handling and display of the US flag are known as the Flag Code. The Flag Code is unclear on the consequences of
letting the flag touch the ground when handling it, but it does state that it's only necessary to destroy the flag when it becomes too worn or soiled to use. See here (scroll down to questions) for a specific answer to this question.

THe display of the flag on the product, draping the flag from the top of the roll and orienting the blue star field to the observer's upper left, is in line with generally accepted flag display principles as delineated in the Code. Arguably, the product in question does violate one aspect of the Flag Code in that it reproduces the US flag on a disposable product. Moreover, while the disposal of used toilet tissue is in line with the Code's aforementioned principles, it might be more appropriate for users of this product to burn used tissue instead.

/glad to help

2006-01-10 07:41:53 PM
i wouldn't buy it. it's enough to know that it's out there, i don't have to actually have a roll as a "conversation piece".

Reader X:it might be more appropriate for users of this product to burn used tissue instead.

now that made me laugh. very hard, yet my keyboard and monitor are both clean and dry and in full working order. you don't owe me anything.

/GREAT SERVICE!!!

I still like my RIAA toilet paper.

/it leaves a rash on your ass, tho

Where were all you crybabies when Ernie wiped his ass with the flag of Afghanistan over at EHOWA.com? Probably digging for your wallets so you could help him attention-whore with the troops during the holidays.
