I, for one, welcome our pass catching overlords.

Nabb1: But, nobody has given me a crack at it yet.

You could always take a shot at your Congressional District seat. ;)

OK... and let me guess... if Lynn said he was running as a Crat then he would be OK?

And why is he a traitor? OH... becasue he is a Black Man who is a Republican... Oh...

Anyone who can't appreciate what Lynn Swann did for the Steelers is the asshat. We trusted him on the field, why not in office?

Swann for Gov, BEN ROETHLISBERGER FOR MAYOR!!!

2006-01-04 10:15:40 AM
Holy hell. What crawled up your collective asses? This FARK! Why are you making assumptionss about submitter that (a) don't matter, (b) are probably incorrect, and (c) are only stated to cause a flame war. Some of you are the same people that in other threads in the past have berated democrats for applying blanket statements to republicans ("repubs are stupid", etc) yet you are doing the exact same thing. Hypocrisy, much?

I guess I can add Lynn Swan to my ever growing list of has-beens who turned Republican Neo-Cons who turned traitors. To bad, he was a great football player.

Ignorant or just trolling? Not every Republican is a neo-conservative, and not every neo-conservative claims Republican party membership.

While Lynn isn't a stupid guy, I doubt he has the experience to hold statewide public office. Then again, it is Pennsylvania, some parts of which couldn't get much worse off then they are now.

2006-01-04 10:16:55 AM
Rumor has it that Swann lacks the clout (and votes) necessary for an endorsement by the state GOP, and would probably lose that fight to Bill Scranton.

That being said, it's January.

He's not even a good looking jock. Dammit. If you're going to run jocks in elections, at least run the hot ones!

Dancin_In_Anson: You could always take a shot at your Congressional District seat. ;)

Yeah, I think that may be up for grabs for a number of reasons. I think I may go for mayor, first, though.

2006-01-04 10:19:27 AM
So far he's been aligning himself with the well to do folks... having all his meetings & announcement parties at exclusive clubs.

I know he needs funds to run his campaign, but considering the financial problems the state's been dealing with, he really hasn't made any effort to address the rest of the people living & struggling in the commonwealth who are looking for someone to believe in.

Swan seems to be a reasonable choice. He did pretty fair as a WR in cushy world of pro football. Although, Swan probably had his family's backing. And, he kept up with the pack in the relatively uncompetitive world of sports broadcasting. Instead of deciding based on his accomplishments and ideas, just write Swan off as an ex-jock.

Do you want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shiat-kickers and Methodists instead?

2006-01-04 10:22:23 AM
Name recognition alone is enough to make you worthy of election? Oh wait, Republican -- how silly of me.

2006-01-04 10:23:17 AM

B-b-b-b-but Republicans hate black people... right? Black People shouldn't think for themselves... they shouldn't -GASP- vote their conscience... should they? Seriously, the way some of these people talk it sounds like the only purpose a black man has in life is to play sports. WHo says Swan is unqualified? He may make a fine governor.

Why not governor? I hear the job comes with a spiffy new office!

I'm a Steelers fan from long back, and I actually met Swann, back in the day when he was covering the Little League World Series (yeah, I know that dates me).

I dunno about him as a politician. Even back then, I reckoned he looked a lot more polished than your average ex-NFL'er. On the other hand, PA politics is a dirty, low-down nasty business where there are no hard-and-fast rules. This is the state, after all, with the near-leftist GOP senator (Specter) and the hard-line pro-life Democratic ex-gov (Casey).

Maybe Jack Lambert shoulda run.

2006-01-04 10:25:25 AM
He's LYNN SWANN.

He's the coolest guy on planet Earth.

NOT ignorant but just playing the 'guitly by association' game just like every righty I know. I am lumped in with the extreme side of the ultra-liberal left even though I adhore their politics just because I advocate liberal ideas. I thought I would just give some of it back.

Dancin_In_Anson: Why not governor? I hear the job comes with a spiffy new office!

But that office, and the Governor's mansion, are both in Baton Rouge, which means I would have to live and work there. I'd rather be Mayor of New Orleans, quite frankly. And then there's that whole thing about breaking my mother's heart by becoming a Louisiana governor. She might as well have raised a serial killer. It's hard enough on her as it is knowing that I'm a lawyer.

2006-01-04 10:30:00 AM
Yes but you See Mr. Legalize It their is a very big reason they are unqualified

Sean penn et. al have shown themselves to be complete and total idiots when they have tried to use big words more then a few times.

Lynn Swann to my knowledge has shown he has at least the intelligence to be a functional human being even without his sports wealth. whereas some one like a Warren Sapp wouldn't...because he is a total idiot.

thats a funny statement because generally black republicans get elected in majority white areas while black democrats get elected in majority black areas.

Well i'm a PA republican as well. I think i'm leaning towards anyone who isn't an ex-steeler. It would have to be the lesser of two evils.

Dancin_In_Anson: I thought that you told her that you played piano in a whorehouse...

Yeah, I did, but then she found out the truth when she insisted I play a song on the piano when I was out of town during Katrina. After my fifth botched attempt at "Chopsticks," it was time to come clean.

2006-01-04 10:43:44 AM
Of course, Mom still tells folks that I play piano in a New Orleans whorehouse.

I wonder if the submitter would have listed this as "asinine" if Lynn Swann were going to run as a Democrat?

Who says Fark doesn't lean to the left?

An argument whose premises and conclusion are one in the same is automatically fallacious.

Ouch... Good Point. But the question remains: Is that a slam on the media for commenting on the poor verbal skills of some/most/any black athletes or is it a hit on black culture for not stressing education?

Is it the chicken or the egg?

Just asking anyone...
