Getting banned from the Waffle House is now my resolution for 2006.

2006-01-02 10:32:20 AM
Back when I was a busboy, this lady asked for some milk for her coffee. I told her we charged for it. The following is the honestagawd quote I will never remember:

"I'm not going to drink it, I'm just going to put it in my coffee."

2006-01-02 10:50:00 AM
Not only will I never remember it, I'll always forget it.

Or, something.

2006-01-02 11:16:57 AM
must be a southern thing huh? Here in massachusetts "a regular coffee" means cream and sugar in it.

2006-01-02 11:27:28 AM
I'd like that news story without the grits please!
What? It costs me money to not have grits? That farking sucks!

2006-01-02 11:27:56 AM
If you order -a- coffee, yes. Waffle house, like lots of other places, simply leaves a carafe of coffee at your table. With it they'll leave 1/2-&-1/2 creamer cups -- which, unused, can be reissued to other customers. Some people prefer real milk. Only way to do this is to leave a quantity of milk at the table. Any unused milk has to be thrown out == waste == money loss.

2006-01-02 11:34:22 AM
You know, there are like a hundred songs written about the waffle house. I see another one brewing here.

2006-01-02 11:35:49 AM
Yes, but NOTHING compares to the Waffle House song.

/got kicked out of one after putting $5 in the jukebox and playing the song over and over again

He should have ordered the "Christmas coffee."
It comes with milk and industrial strength detergent.

Someone please tell me why every time I went to any Waffle House there was always one waitress there who worked nights, who had dreams of leaving the Waffle House one day soon and going back to school? Only to find myself back at the same Waffle House a year later, and she is still slummin it.

The Bush administration and its continuing policies of tax cuts for the rich at the expense of the working class?

2006-01-02 11:47:48 AM
Do they charge extra for Ketchup and Mustard?

2006-01-02 11:48:39 AM
I have never left a waffle house without thinking how much I regretted entering it in the first place. They are now banned for life. BANNED!

elendilmir: The Bush administration and its continuing policies of tax cuts for the rich at the expense of the working class?

That's nice. Please let it be known I have not been in a Waffle House since the Clinton Administration.

pity on Submitter for re-hashing a waffle house joke.

Someone's gotta be at the bottom...

Perhaps elendilmir was referring to the first Bush administration.

Mount didn't respond to requests for comment left on his pager

It's 2006. Who uses pagers these days?

"Any unused milk has to be thrown out == waste == money loss."

Milk is only two bucks a gallon. That waste for those few customers that request milk in their coffee instead would be miniscule. So, no excuse for them being dicks.

2006-01-02 11:51:20 AM
Hoard said the conflict escalated more than two years ago when he was accused of smoking marijuana outside a restaurant and was banned from Waffle Houses.

Gee, I'm shocked.

When I still lived in Fla. my parents took me to a waffle house. I remember it as one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life. Pennsylvania has no waffle houses that I know of.
/*sob*

2006-01-02 11:51:55 AM
Also, how much do you suppose it costs them when the customer they refused to give milk to never returns to eat at their establishment?

2006-01-02 11:52:27 AM
scrowdid: Perhaps elendilmir was referring to the first Bush administration.

Either way, I still think it is ridiculous to start a political flame-war in a Waffle House thread.

//Didn't vote for Bush, either.

2006-01-02 11:52:31 AM
Except employees of the Waffle house don't pay taxes and in fact get a tax "refund" with the earned income tax credit.

You lead a sad, sad existance, and need to find a way to eat real food.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but in Flori-duh you can only get grits or hash browns at Waffle House. No fries. WTF is up with that? Is it some lingering misdirected anti-French sentiment?

Plus, everything in Waffle House has that lingering greasy feeling - the menus, the seats, the tables, the waitresses... sorry, strike that. We love ya, FLO!

2006-01-02 11:55:18 AM
Unless it offers chicken as well, it ain't a waffle house.

Dude, that was me. You forgot to mention that I always worked the night shift drunk.

15 years later, I did make it back to school.

Jeez, SnackCake. Gotta little sand in your vagina?

I am a health food person, yet, I still visit at least three times a week. I will not touch fast food, yet, I cannot resist an egg and cheese wrap plate to start my day. I resolve to eat more Waffle House in 2006, going at least 4 times a week now.

2006-01-02 11:56:49 AM
Big deal. What's a small glass of milk cost? $1 at the most? Sheesh. Get down off your high horse & use the non-dairy creamer, cheapa$$.

Umm, money is money, and waffle house is so good because it's cheap. $2/gal probably adds up to Real Money (tm) after a while. Didn't delta save something like $2million a year just by taking an olive out of their in-flight meals?

2006-01-02 11:58:10 AM
Why are coffee snobs drinking it at the Waffle House anyway? Shouldn't they be down at the *Starbucks*?

Where do you guys buy your milk? Mine is like $3-4/gallon. Sad days.

There are 11 Waffle Houses in Pennsylvania, I looked on their website.

Also, see the Fun Facts! www.wafflehouse.com/funfacts.htm

Gave me a warm (well, RE-warmed) feeling.

Nah. Just wanted to use that expression.
/cheers!

Since when does protesting with a sign equate to suing? Submitter needs to RTFA:

...who was driven to demonstrate with a handmade sign this week...

Jesus Christ, I've never been anywhere that doesn't give free cream with coffee - you don't even have to ask for it, usually. What, does this place charge for sugar, too?

2006-01-02 12:03:54 PM
Last November I was working back east. Once when driving and while I was not that hungry, I saw a my first Waffle House and had to stop in.

I now understand all the Jeff Foxworthy jokes that went over my head so to speak.

//you might be a redneck jokes sure fit that place

Being from the cold, white North it's always a pleasure to visit Waffle House whenever I'm in Texas or anywhere else within their realm. The food is usually not very good but I don't mind, it's an experience that everyone should have at least once.

/collects the pie toothpicks

2006-01-02 12:07:18 PM
lol, if the asshole had just paid cup-rate for extra butter he'd have had his milk.

Except for liability purposes Waffle House isn't allowed to provide any services not clearly defined on their menu.

It's the Law.

2006-01-02 12:07:51 PM
I've never eaten at a Waffle House. Ever.

I don't think we have one here?

2006-01-02 12:08:32 PM
Hoard said the conflict escalated more than two years ago when he was accused of smoking marijuana outside a restaurant and was banned from Waffle Houses.

Isn't that like 99% of their customers! That's the only time I'ver ever gone.

on a related (??) note...

Back during the intarwebnet boom, my then employer offered free coffee for employees (so we would get juiced up and work harder, no doubt). I don't do caffeine, so it was no benefit for me. One day I was with a co-worker while he was in the caf getting some coffee, and the guy behind the counter asked if he wanted milk with it. So co-worker got milk in his coffee. This prompted me to ask for a LARGE coffee and milk, hold the coffee. He was fine with that, and I got a free glass of milk.

/ok, enough about me.

They give free creamer, it's the actual milk (like from a cow) that's not free.

Ha! This was in the Johnson City paper on Friday. They had a sad picture of the guy holding a sign. I'll see if I can scan it or find it on their website.
