Jesus 2.0: Am I to understand that your logic is that it is better to be eaten by your dog than eaten by your cat?

A dog will feel bad while eating you. And he'll finally kill and eat the frigging cat first, since you're not there to yell at him.

Cats are such god-damned attention whores. "Help me, I'm stuck in this tree!"

PISS OFF!! You got yourself up there, Sylvester, you can damn well get yourself down!

That's not all he'll do to the poor cat.

Can of catfood.

Check back in a few hours. Cat and food will be gone.

Works on a pig, also. You can't make a potbellied pig go anywhere, but let it sniff a slice of pizza and it will follow you to the ends of the Earth...or the block, in my case.

Proof that Cats die in trees!!!

2005-12-31 12:08:29 PM
Yeah.

The fire department decided against risking injury to its personel (which is a liability) over a cat.

That's soooooooo stupid.

Oh man, that's so pathetic.

Hey here's the firechief's email, to whom you can complain on behalf of that darned cat!!

I was previously unaware of the (assumedly British) term "Fire Bobbies". And, strangely, I find the term mildly disturbing.

Not as disturbing as "Fire Bobbits", I would say.

Can't someone just climb up the tree themselves? Good god I used to climb up the thirty foot pine in my front yard when I was nine years old, and I can still do it now at twenty one. You don't need the fire department.

If a fireman got hurt rescuing a cat from a tree then he's got no business running into burning buildings looking for people to save. Time for a desk job.

BTW: if you want action you have to take action. In my neighborhood there was a cat at the top of a telephone pole for almost 5 days. City utilities, power, police, fire, telephone, and cable tv companies wouldn't do anything but drive by slowly. On the evening of the third day someone began pelting the equipment on the adjacent pole with a slingshot and with paint pellets and evidently caused damage to the CATV line and the next day they had to come out and fix it, and then they went to the next pole and got the cat down (who was completely jacked up, disoriented, but lived).

Of course that same someone nailed the back of the cable tv van with one last paint pellet as it drove away. those farkin sonamonbotching iceholes.

Ilive in pittsburgh where some of the firemen make over 100 grand per year. Getting a cat out of a tree would definetly cut into their sitting in front of the fire house doing nothing time.

Yeah. Let's all be mad at the firemen for making money risking their lives to save those of others.

Ingrate. They have the most noble job out there.

It would also cut down on your sitting in front of fark doing nothing time. If it's so important, why don't you get off your fat ass and do it? WTF about being a fireman logically leads to getting cats out of trees? Should they also look for your dog when it runs off?

Jesus 2.0: Ingrate. They have the most noble job out there.

My brother-in-law is a cop in Denver. Especially since 9/11 there have been throngs of people giving all the firemen hummers for risking their lives, but the cops get grief for risking their lives on routine traffic stops for "ingrates". It's cool to swing from a fireman's nuts and bash cops. That said, the firemen I know are hard workers who deserve a lot of respect. Just not hummers.

/where's a math teacher's hummer?

2005-12-31 12:39:16 PM
dude we all risk our lives everyday jusy going back and forth to work. The Pitt firefighters have almost bankrupted the city in the name of public safety. All the neighboring towns have volunteers. You know the guys that get paid zip to risk their lives to save people. noble job yes, but a fireman should never make more then a policmen. The fir station in my heighborhood in the city averages 45 calls per year, they are grossly overpaid.

2005-12-31 12:39:40 PM
I'm sure that there's better uses of the city's tax dollars. A pellet gun or a .22 should do the trick.

/Kidding.

bluprint: WTF about being a fireman logically leads to getting cats out of trees?

I think the idea comes from when they used to be the only ones with huge ladders. Stupid reason, but I think that's it. I also think, for similar reasons, that I should get to call the FD whenever I'm thirsty.

Makes sense. In that case, I think cleaning gutters, replacing light bulbs (in high-ceilings) and chopping firewood seem like reasonable, additional duties for firemen now.

Thanks for clearing that up.

2005-12-31 12:47:48 PM
its saturday numbnuts. I have already put in my 50 hours of work this week. Just try getting one of those fireman jobs in the city of pitt. They have such a racket where the young guys call off so the older retires can grab all the overtime because it counts toward their retirement. If your not willing to play the Union game your not even going to sniff a pitt firemen job. By the way I'm 6 feet 2 210 lbs my a$$ is not fat.

Police officers are tools of an increasingly oppressive state who are employed by the property owners to maintain social control. They have no responsibility to actually protect any individual in the community only see to it that local coffers are filled with revenue in the form of fines for trying to go about ones life out of step with how the majority feels one sould behave.
