"this is a game that is actually less challenging than, say, Duck Hunt."

Hey duck hunt was hard. Those little ducks taunt you constantly.

The problem I have with this game is this: you expend your faith by using it to blast things. I don't know about you, but if my faith could kill with the power of Jesus, wouldn't I have more faith?

And the worst bit is that you don't gain faith because Jesus helps you out with lightning bolts. You can faith because you find paper on the ground somewhere. It's like "Jesus helped me out kill that dude with a lightning bolt, but is he really real? Oh look at this old tattered paper. Now I believe!"

who would this be marketed too?

i meen, anyone would be able to mod, say....Call of Duty to make it seem like a religious video game, by switching health packs to "scrolls" and weapons that shoot lightning and so forth.

with that said, parents who oppose the FPS's now, more then likly wont get this for their children. and the target audience would be...well.... kids whos parents wouldnt normally let them get FPS...

i have a headache...

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?!?

Encounter Satans minions and banish them back to their evil realm. Evil lurks everywhere you turn. With your Sword of the Spirit in hand, you must confront the demons head on and show them nothing can overcome the power of the Holy Spirit.

Uh, aside from the weaponry, how is this any different than the evil, anti-Christian game Doom?

Sadly enough, there are people who actually believe this.

Not to mention the fact that this game is about six years old. Graphics that old would make anyone cry.

Catechumen is far from new, and by no means the only Christian FPS. Catechumen's part of an entire sub-genre of gaming, and much like Christian rock before it, all of it's adherents are all terrible.

I want the game where the logical minded scientist gets to save the world by killing off all the Jesus Freaks.

And since there's alot of 'em, he'd have to invent all kinds of neat killing devices, like pox-bibles, church seeking missles, Holy Water anthrax, cyanide communal hosts, pew mines, fugu-fish frys, and the church bell mini-neutron bomb.

The game ends when you capture the pope hiding down inside his spider hole!

You know, it IS possible to come out with a kick-arse game encorporating the Word. It's just all those morans that think Christianity has to equal "happy, fluffy peacemaking...."

Have any of these people read the Old Testament? What ever happened to the cool stories like Judges 14 when the spirit of the LORD came over Sampson and had him splittin wigs over a riddle? (Not the best example but I got a chuckle outta that story.) Have they actually read Hebrews 11? You don't need litter to keep faith in your heart, you need to make the right choices according to His way.

Hell, I could design a puzzle-solving, weapon-weilding, educational FPS that'd get the Word across. They obviously don't put much thought in these things... no wonder between gems like this and the Catholic Church, people don't want to learn more about Him.

One things Xtians need is more faith. You rarely see a Bible thumper strap on an explosive vest and send infidels to hell, or fly a commercial airliner into a skyscraper. It's all a matter of faith. I blame it on our lack of Xtian theocracies and the oppression of Christmas.
Happy Jesus Day everyone...

Ever noticed that whenever rightwing Christians want to justify violence (i.e. war, death penalty, etc.) they refer to the Old Testament?

I always thought the point of being Christian was to live according to Christ's teachings. Personally, I never read the OT because it's totally irrelevant.

Gospel of Thomas
70: Jesus said, "If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you do not have that within you, what you do not have within you [will] kill you."

Oh, great a video game that teaches our kids that the scriptures and other sacred texts gives you the strength to go out and kill others.

Isn't christianity really about love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, charity, etc? (Liberal ideas all). Or am I missing something?

2005-12-25 10:10:17 AM
The beauty of Christianity is - you can pick and choose snippets from the bible to illustrate anything you want while disregarding parts that are embarrasing or downright silly. You can say the OT is symbolic and was replaced by the NT, or claim the bible is the eternal word of god. You are even free to change your position in the same discussion if it remotely helps your cause.

Yeah, but when they are out shopping, it's all about Paul. What a perfect world: ham sandwiches and lethal injections for all of those scary black people. Woo hoo! Jesus surrenders.

2005-12-25 10:14:37 AM
I always wondered if the OT was all fire and brimstone and the NT is all love and forgiveness, why aren't Jewish people more intollerant than Christians? Just a rhetorical question based on personal experience.
