I dunno, a party split of 4-1 doesn't sound all that bipartisan. More like Collin And The Republicans.

That said: ow my ears.

2005-12-23 12:19:10 PM
There's nothing like shiatty covers of Louie Louie and Wild Thing to bring Democrats and Republicans together

Peterson on one guitar
With Thaddeus for lead does spar
While Weldon beefy bass strings strums
As Kenny Hulsof pounds the drums
Jon Porter keyboards from Nevada
In dulce vida dagada

What did the troops do to deserve this horror?

"On the other hand? Know those musicians that DON'T take drugs and infact protest the use of drugs? ....boy do they suck!

'We rock against drugs 'cause it's what George Bush would want!!'"

Bill Hicks is more topical now than ever

Heh. Or The Decemberists' "Sixteen Military Wives."

2005-12-23 12:34:07 PM
What about the Tragically Hip - "New Orleans Is Sinking"?

2005-12-23 12:52:17 PM
" Beatles and Eagles to George Strait and Toby Keith."

At least Lee Atwater could play some pretty wicked blues...

2005-12-23 12:57:24 PM
That's crap. I was in a band called Second Amendment back, in 1987, when I was in high school.

2005-12-23 12:58:08 PM

Please disregard comma.

How about "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath? Or "War Ensemble" by Slayer?

2005-12-23 01:13:42 PM
I guess now that Bush agreed to sign the anti-torture legislation, they can no longer play Gitmo...

ArizonaBay: Bill Hicks is more topical now than ever

Too bad he is still as unfunny.

2005-12-23 01:15:42 PM
Is there a photo of them as a band? That has to be a photoshop contest.

2005-12-23 01:17:24 PM

"Are you ready to rock?"

"I'm ready to vigorously play the drums!"

Oh yeah, this band also played FarmAid

"It's always nice to have a double meaning," Peterson said. "We are all in favor of the Second Amendment."

That's nice and all...but while you guys are defending the 2nd amendment, do you think you could look in on the 1st and 4th amendments? We haven't heard much from them lately and I think we're all starting to get a bit concerned about that.

2005-12-23 01:59:07 PM
Let the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeagle soooooooooooooooooooar!

2005-12-23 01:59:14 PM

2005-12-23 01:59:33 PM

2005-12-23 02:05:11 PM

/not

2005-12-23 02:05:21 PM
I'm scared that I recognize GG Allin's torso but not the head 'shopped onto it.

2005-12-23 02:06:05 PM
Having actually heard them, they're not bad... They play like oldies and stuff and with most of "the troops" being pretty young they'd better hope that the novelty of "hey, that's my congressman" gets them by.

2005-12-23 02:08:02 PM
That should be "comprising five members of the House of Representatives."

"Comprise" means the same as "contain." Nothing is comprised of anything.

/useless nitpicky grammar pet peeve rant

Okay, fun's over, whoever hacked Weaver95's Fark account, 'fess up.

jerry2a:

Actually its the freedom to blow your own head off, of which this band is clearly trying to encourgage more exercise.

2005-12-23 02:11:42 PM
A missed opportunity for the 'Scary' tag.

Nah, the usage is correct.

Capitol Steps unavailable for comment.

2nd Amendments? Talk about a weak name for a band!

btw, 1st and 4th are old news. How about the soon to be Iraqi victory. Bush is NOT cutting and running, he is redeploying troops as the situation on the ground dictates.

2005-12-23 02:13:40 PM
Mosey: "Too bad he is still as unfunny."

And what, pray tell, is "funny" by your enlightened standards.

2005-12-23 02:14:55 PM
Sounds like they need better material to cover.

2005-12-23 02:17:20 PM
How about "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"?

Regardless of what they sound like, I totally applaud their efforts. Rarely do you see politicians (especially their kind!) getting out and doing something selfless like that. They're having a good time and doing something great for our troops. I have warm fuzzies now. Yay!

2005-12-23 02:19:34 PM
So are they going to buy Nirvana's Songs?

2005-12-23 02:22:07 PM
I still have to say that the strangest musician I've ever heard it is Peter Gammons. He does a benefit in Boston every year with Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo fame. Pater Gammons can actually play guitar and did a fairly decent version of Rout 66. Theo Epstein was also there with his band. Theo wasn't that good, but it was still amusing to watch.

2005-12-23 02:22:13 PM
Ok. As much as I am suspicious of any politician, it's good that they are willing to put their proverbial money where their mouths are and spend the holiday away from THEIR families. it should be a requirement at this point. Maybe if they all came back saying "I spent Christmas away from my family for THAT MESS?!" We'd have a schedule for withdrawal.

That said, my ears are bleeding at the thought of it...

They're walkin' on The Fightin' Side Of Me.
Runnin' down a way of life our fightin' men have fought and died to keep,
If you don't love it, leave it,
Let this song that I'm singin' be a warnin',
When you're runnin' down our country
You're walkin' on The Fightin' Side Of Me.

- Haggard

2005-12-23 02:23:46 PM
Oh, and I vote to include The Clash's "White Riot" in the set.

2005-12-23 02:25:36 PM
Wonder if they'll be covering any Crass?

/do they owe us a living?

2005-12-23 02:26:56 PM
Are you adequately prepared to rock?
