I Like this part.....

"Saddam and seven co-defendants are on trial for the murder of more than 140 Shi'ites..."

Must have been some really nasty Mexican Food.

"The Americans informed us that a security firm wanted $7 000 to protect us to and from the airport but we rejected the offer and told the Americans we would hold them responsible for our safety," Ghazzawi said.

I would tell them to go screw. Since when is it the plaintiffs responsibility to make sure everyone on the defendants side has security.

Haha I didn't even RTFA and I could still immediately appreciate the brilliance of the headline.

I'm against torture.
I don't think any government has a right to use it.
But in this case?

Red-hot fire pokers right up the ass. Daily.

i don't believe this at all.

i've seen many photos of him while in prison. also, remember those guerds who got to know him a little bit? he likes footloops? he was perfectly fine then and those guards he took a liking to said the same.

/i might be wrong

I guess when Saddam told his supporters in the media that he was tortured and still has the marks, he was talking about skid marks...

I can see how being made to wash your own racing stripes after being dictator for life would be considered psychological abuse.

So that was the guy who did that.

Since it's not a civil case (that's where plaintiffs are). Generally, it's the responsibility of the imprisoner to provide security for the imprisoned. If you were in prison, you'd expect the guards to defend you to and from your courthouse, right?

I think it is important to set the record straight.

I was one of the troops that captured Saddam. I'm not ashamed to admit that I kicked him in the ass with my dirty combat boot. I also told him he was a total Farkwad for getting me dragged 10,000 miles away from my family to his hellhole country.

My bad luck continued: I also was detailed to provide prison security for Saddam. I am probably responsible for his torture claims. Again, I kicked him in his nasty hinder with my boot. Something strange happened when I did it. Saddam seemed to moan with pleasure and he bent over and grabbed his ankles and said in Arabic, "infidel, give me more, me so horny G.I."

This soldier don't play that game, so I let some of the other prisoners into his cell for pound-Saddam-in-the-arse prison fun. He didn't have any complaints at the time.

Respectfully, G.I. Joe

I'm against torture. Even torturing that jackass. That said, whether or not he was tortured isn't relevant to the trial at hand. You don't get off for genocide because on your way to jail someone punched you in the nuts. While anyone who did torture him should be disciplined appropriately, Saddam should still pay for what he did. I'm also against the death penalty though, I'd much rather have him die a lonely pathetic old man who needs his depends changed every day, having become the laughing stock of Iraqis everywhere.

Some would say the "psychological abuse" is getting off easy.

Welcome to your own personal Hell, Saddam...

I think the plaintiff RUNNING THE COUNTRY enters into it somewhere, but I'm not certain of the details.

The article should have started with "As expected, Saddam and his lawyers claim he was mistreated. The only surprise is it took this long".

2005-12-23 01:13:51 PM
I really doubt that Saddam has been tortured. He's a very bright and sociopathic man whose using all this media attention to benefit his own propaganda machine and authority.

To us in the US, his statements appear ludicrous, but I wonder what the response of the average Iraqi is to what he's saying. Afterall, in an American court, outbursts like Saddam is currently doing, just aren't allowed. In an Iraqi court they seem to be, so I imagine that might mean that they are taken into some consideration by the Iraqis.

2005-12-23 01:18:12 PM
The news videos should be shown with the shots of mideastern people applauding and rejoicing in the same manner the 9/11 footage was aired.

And for added effect, add a audiotrack of a shredding machine whenever Saddam is talking.

mychihuahuas: To us in the US, his statements appear ludicrous, but I wonder what the response of the average Iraqi is to what he's saying.

Our own inability to resist the temptation of torturing Iraqis has landed this fool and his claims credibility in the minds of many in the Middle East that he wouldn't otherwise had.

For all the Times-bashing, they did GWB a huge, huge favor in not running the wiretapping story *before* the election.

His steak must have been overcooked, his mashed potatoes lumpy, and the air conditioning did'nt even have a remote.

Listens for the sound of a itsy bitsy teeeny weenie violin playing in the background.
