You know what's weird to think about?

Those are pictures of ice cubes that have been sitting there, floating in space, right around the corner from us, for about four billion years.

No, those are there to test our faith. We all know they've only been there for 6,000 years.

How long would it take for the oil to hit Uranus?

2005-12-22 03:15:07 PM
Prof. Farnsworth: Sorry, Fry, but scientists renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke.

Fry: What's it called now?

Prof. Farnsworth: Urectum!

Did someone say a giant ball of ice?

Yet another outrageous example of my government spying on me.

2005-12-22 06:04:15 PM
I saw this story while I was at work (where I don't Fark), I wondered if it would be here when I got home.

2005-12-22 06:04:20 PM
Wasn't the govt going to pull funding for the Hubble? That thing still seems useful, unlike other govt programs that still get funded.

Submitter has been monitoring teh interwebs for years waiting to make that joke.

Every time anyone mentions Uranus, I giggle like a schoolgirl.

/Hey Beavis, he's looking at Uranus.

2005-12-22 06:06:00 PM
Nice shout out to the bleaching community.

/ Secretly amused by butt bleachers
// Would think it would hurt
/// Therefore would never do it
//// Plus I don't care what my anus looks like
///// Xmas slashies for all

"No one thought this region of Uranus was very interesting."

*ahem* that's rather rude!

2005-12-22 06:08:56 PM
Okay, Does anyone else want to know why SETI's looking at Uranus? Do they know something we don't?!?

Certainly would explain all the anal probing...

/all these worlds are yours....

2005-12-22 06:11:18 PM
Hmm, it occurs to me that putting bleach on your cat's ass would be better than lipstick, because it would then sanitize the kitchen counter if and when it touched it.

Er, then again, that wouldn't be so good for the upholstery, your bedspread, or the carpet.

/Never mind. Carry on.
//Butt-bleaching cracks me up.
///One more slash, with feeling.

2005-12-22 06:12:11 PM
cupid is circling uranus. That's gonna sting. Yeowza.

2005-12-22 06:13:31 PM
Nope, no longer funny now that newscasters pronounce it "Urinis" -- just like they did with "sexual harrisment"

Nice shout out to the bleaching community.

There'e going to be trouble, though, when the bleach hits Uranus.

The most unfortunate name for anything ever. Poor planet never gets any respect.

I saw that article while at lunch and was wondering if it would make fark....

Let the butt jokes begin.....

2005-12-22 06:18:51 PM
My favorite quote from the article:

"Sometimes you find things you aren't looking for. No one thought this region of Uranus was very interesting."

Indeed.

2005-12-22 06:20:23 PM
About the anus bleaching:
Fark thread from June, and from that thread: Lara Flynn Boyle did it in 2000

About the Uranus jokes? Never fail to make me giggle.

El Brujo,

"I literally just heard of this anal bleaching...

I can't really explain it, but apparently there are those who feel like their brown eye makes them blue.

2005-12-22 06:20:47 PM
El Brujo

Do a GIS for "anal bleaching".

Then you too shall be enlightened.

Appears to have started "down under".

/ Both literally and figuratively
// Reached slashie quota for entire week

2005-12-22 06:21:02 PM
El Brujo:

Please explain!...

Sure thing! Bend over!

Last week maybe? I saw some pron chick on the Stern showing raving about anal bleaching. She dips her fingers in the bleach cream and rubs around her sphincter. She said it is actually kinda pleasurable. I figured she would need wayyyy more then a couple fingers to feel anything back there.

2005-12-22 06:22:44 PM
Bleach? Huh?

OHH, I get it, Ur-anus. Ho ho ho, that's a good one. Better write that down.

Don't most planets have rings, though? So what's the big deal?

2005-12-22 06:23:10 PM
i had a teacher in eighth grade who would pronounce it Yur-Uh-Nis in hopes that we wouldn't make the anus jokes when it only egged us on. heh heheh....anus

All three moons are very small. Perdita is the largest, measuring about 16 miles across.

Holy crap! That's like a personal planet! ...That would rock, if you think about it... I can't even imagine how something with that little mass can generate enough gravity to pull itself into a planetoid like that. I mean, sixteen miles, that's the distance between Sacramento and Lodi. (For you out-of-towners, nevermind...) Damn but that's small!
/A personal planet would be cool.
//But first, let's designate one to which we will send all of the stupid people!

2005-12-22 06:26:30 PM
Anal bleaching!?!?!?!

Is nothing sacred anymore.....

*Nods.* I pronounce it "Yoo-RAH-nus," for that same reason, and people understand me fine. Besides, if you look at it phonetically...

2005-12-22 06:30:44 PM
That article needs to be read aloud by Kent Brockman.

2005-12-22 06:31:49 PM
Fun? HECK yeah! I'm bleaching my anus as I type this. And I'm observing Uranus too!

/not that there's anything wrong with that...

2005-12-22 06:32:08 PM
BXRWXR: Yeah, just like the Earth has. Wadda you goofy?

Not like, Saturn-rings, rings so small you can't see them clearly at all. Earth has one. I think.

2005-12-22 06:37:02 PM
Ooh! This is the first time I can honestly say it:

"I submited this with a better headline."

I thought it was two.

No, I'm just just kidding, it has a belt (the Van Allen) - and you are goofy.

/I keed, I keed
//Or do I?
///Slashy rings!

2005-12-22 06:51:16 PM
I read it as "hubbie" find new ring around uranus, which was even more funny
