I was prepared to think "well that's stupid", but it was really a nice thing for a 12 year old girl to come up with and actually do.

Anyway, I think this is sweet. Not many kids that age (or grownups, for that matter) spend much effort doing nice and unexpected things for others.

One thing though- how on earth did she come up with $3,000??? Not at the bake-sale, unless she was selling her fellow churchgoers "special" brownies.

Thats a nice thing to do, but I think she could have done better things for those people than rent a stretch limo for them.

I guess, but that's not the point. While we're sitting here on our asses kibitzing, this girl actually went out and did something, and her good experience with this will likely encourage her to do more throughout her life.

In other news, silver rings, cologne, thermal underwear (used), and watches have been showing up at pawn shops throughout Tennessee. Rumor has it some girl gave homeless guys these worthless items instead of what they really wanted: booze.

While I agree that the money could have been put to more efficient use, I still think it's a sweet story. Obviously she's interested in helping the homless by doing more than just taking them out once, and apparently they enjoyed themselves anyway. More people really need to start thinking about others.

How about HERO or COOL. But STRANGE? This girl is awesome. Good for her. There is nothing that won't get criticized by the dumbfarks on here. Could the money have been spent more wisely? Maybe. But I'm sure these guys have gotten lots of free meals over the years. This might've been what one of these men needed. It is a helluva lot more than I've done for the poor this year I'm sorry to say.

I agree with omegazeto. This wasn't charity, this was rich white angst overcompensation in its purest form. That $3,000, given to a shelter, could have fed at least 500 people. Sheesh.
