The song "Take On Me" was one of my favorites for a long time...is that scary?

Tomorrow's headlines today:
"Renewed popularity fades before "ah-ha" bandmembers' eyes."

Maerlyn - Couldn't possibly be worse than liking 'Final Countdown' by Europe. Or anything by White Lion. I'm just thankful I never liked New Kids or Vanilla Ice.

I don't care what anybody says. "Take On Me" was a good song and a damn good music video, even though they did rip off a part of the movie "Altered States" in the video.

I met A-Ha some weeks ago on MTV Morning Glory (made in Sweden) and they were so antisocial... Never met more boring ppl...

Aha is unreal.... I hope they do a US Tour, my head would explode!

Actually, try DL'ing "Summer Moved On" from Audiogalaxy. Not a bad song. If we can expect the same from them, well....at least that's better than more Backstreet Boys etc...

Srotar:

Knock White Lion all you want, as a band, they deserve it. But, Vitto Bratta was one hell of an amazing guitarist. His solos were intelligent and melodic at a time where every other 80's hair band had guitarists that were merely wanking scales.

Excuse me, but did someone just use the words "intelligent and melodic" in the same sentence as "80's hair band"?

I think my brain hurts now.

Yes.... yes it does.

i guess they made enough money to live happily for 17 years? wtf?

Uhhhm, did this article completely forget that A-ha realeased a new album I think around 2 years ago? It sold quite well here in Canada. Saw the video a fair number of times on MuchMoreMusic. It's A LOT different from their 80s stuff.

Both their 80s stuff and new stuff is quite good.

I have a soft spot for A-ha. Every time I hear 'Take on me', it reminds me of competing in the 1986 Commonwealth games in Edinburgh as a cyclist. I was 17 and fit, and there was this English girl.... oh supreme diety she was special! Not long after that I met the woman who'd be my wife.

Haven't heard much from them lately- (no surprise I guess, being pretty far out in the ocean) hope they're doing well.

And then there's that Simply Red tune, "Don't you forget about me". Same time and place - ahhh the memories....

"Don't You forget about me" is not a Simply Red tune. I think you are thinking of Simple Minds. Sheesh doesn't anyone know their Breakfast Club soundtrack?
