"I will NEVER EVER DO THIS EVER AGAIN and I am once more terribly sorry," Baldino wrote. "Please let me go for I am terribly sorry!!! I'm only a kid! Help me out. I just want to go home. I did this not knowing of the serious penalty that lies behind it. Please! Please! Please!"

Nancy boy can't take the consequences.

2005-12-02 09:04:03 AM
Give the kid a break. Yeah, he was dumb, but probably had no priors.

2005-12-02 09:04:36 AM
Note to self: Download barcode magic and get $79.99 ipod "on sale" at target

2005-12-02 09:04:51 AM
Yeah - I never thought it was illegal to get a $300 item for $4.99 - I thought it was like, um, the gift fairy or something

2005-12-02 09:06:46 AM
I'm only a kid!

Y'know what? fark you.

If someone else uses your youthful inexperience as a reason you should only be lightly punished, fine, but when you start throwing it around it shows what a conniving prick you are.

2005-12-02 09:09:23 AM
10 to 1 says his buddies did something similar, and he's the one that got caught.

2005-12-02 09:14:33 AM
The idiot might have skated if he set the bar code to $14.99.

2005-12-02 09:20:05 AM
Ha! He even cheaped out on paying for the software.

Idiot.

2005-12-02 09:37:28 AM
It's not like he's going to get the death penalty, but, yeah, some kind of punishment is appropriate. A week of community service and a brief probation term sound about right.

Stupidity, like colon cancer, has an excellent recovery rate, when it is diagnosed and treated early enough.

2005-12-02 09:45:44 AM
Lock him up and throw away the keys!!1

You know, I'd never heard of this program until now.

2005-12-02 12:15:09 PM
what an idiot

2005-12-02 12:25:08 PM
How'd they catch him?

Inquiring minds want to know.

2005-12-02 12:28:27 PM
Wonder if he'll get some "Behind Bars Code Magic" from the Authorities?

//Where's Headline Voting when you need it?

2005-12-02 01:11:26 PM
Yeah, he shouldn't be punished because he's a white college student, not a criminal. And he's genuinely sorry. Sorry that he got caught, mind you, but still sorry. Moran.

2005-12-02 01:14:40 PM
last time I checked 19 years old aren't considered kids.

2005-12-02 01:59:05 PM
He should be making a barcode for KY anal lube. I don't think he'll get off with no time since it's a felony.

Baldino faces a felony charge of forgery and two misdemeanor counts of theft.

If he has no priors he'll get just get probation.

Kid needs to man up to his mistakes (crimes).

BWAHAHAHAHA

"I will NEVER EVER DO THIS EVER AGAIN and I am once more terribly sorry," Baldino wrote. "Please let me go for I am terribly sorry!!! I'm only a kid! Help me out. I just want to go home. I did this not knowing of the serious penalty that lies behind it. Please! Please! Please!"

F*CK YOU KID!

If I were the prosecutor not looking at/for re-election next year, I'd throw the book at him.

2005-12-02 02:42:02 PM
Holy crap, what a farkin whining wimpy asshole crybaby.

2005-12-02 02:42:14 PM
That's awesome! It would have been funnier to just go put barcodes on things to make them cheaper for other people. The kid was greedy. And a bit pansyish.

2005-12-02 02:42:42 PM
HAHAH just kidding thanks.

2005-12-02 02:42:45 PM
Pussy.

HAHAH just kidding thanks.

on the bright side, this kid is in for a lifetime of hell when he returns to his fraternity.

2005-12-02 02:43:11 PM
Note to self: Download Barcode Magic.

2005-12-02 02:43:26 PM
Kid, it sucks to be you. I suggest that you plea-bargain, but I've got no idea why the DA would accept any offer you made.

2005-12-02 02:43:55 PM
I'm only a kid!, says the 19 year old....

2005-12-02 02:44:03 PM
Well, the "if it's that easy to do then the store deserved it" crowd should be here soon. You know, the ones that think you are entitled to money a bank mistakenly deposits into your account.

2005-12-02 02:44:44 PM
What a brilliant move.

Well, I'm gonna go start repricing all the items in our local walmart.

"I'll take this 4 dollar living room set please."

Now he can print "HEAVY TRAFFIC" on his ass

2005-12-02 02:44:56 PM
I've always thought about doing that. Never could be bothered with the whole going to jail part of it though.

2005-12-02 02:45:05 PM
I'm going to put barcodes on items at Wal-Mart and make them, like, really super high priced.

2005-12-02 02:45:29 PM
The music wants to be free.

2005-12-02 02:45:50 PM
I must say:
I worked my ass off at CU, but it's kids like this who put the school in the papers. I'm off to write my thesis on Murphy's Law.

What a retard.

Did he REALLY think that the cashier wouldn't notice? I mean, seriously.

Though he *is* an EE major. Most of those guys are borderline autistic.

Police: "Jonathan, what's the square root of 635.98?"
Jonathan: "25.2186439"
Police: "Jonathan, how much does an iPod cost?"
Jonathan: "About five dollars. Yeah, five dollars at Target."

2005-12-02 02:46:07 PM
Translation:

"I am terribly sorry that I got caught! I'll never do this again because now I know that I can get caught! Please let me go, isn't the fact that you caught me punishment enough? I'm just a kid who doesn't believe that stealing is wrong unless I get caught!"

I guaran-farkin'-tee thathe never would have admitted any wrongdoing on his own volition out of the blue. "Hey alright, if I get by, it's mine! Mine all mine!"

What a whiney crybaby assed thief! Need to spend a little time in the take it in the ass house. That will teach him.

Let me first say, bahahahahahahaha.

Secondly, as an alert cashier, I catch people trying to do it all the time.

Third, I will laugh at you. And having someone as lame and is such a lowly job as myself laughing at you is a far greater punishment then jailtime.

Ipods are over-rated. Get a PC version Mp3 player - they were here before and are better, last longer than Ipods.

Youth these days have little respect for law and authority. When hooligans are apprehended, they often cry like babies. More on this breaking story coming up at eleven.

Valdemiro: last time I checked 19 years old aren't considered kids.

What's funny is that in a psychology class I took in college, the class and the professor had about a half an hour discussion on this subject. We concluded that in today's society most people were kids until they were at least 24. There were a lot of really interesting reasons as to why.

/this dumbass kid helps prove my point

2005-12-02 02:49:01 PM
Counts as what, trying to steal 140$?

If you're 19 and you don't realize there are penalties to stealing that much, I think society can survive without your input for about 2 years.

2005-12-02 02:49:10 PM
His punishment should be that he has to go out and purchase and iPod.

For ME.

How'd they catch him?

What do you mean? How is it not easy to catch him? The cashier probably noticed it said $4.99. I mean the cashier people aren't total zombies. He should have done something closer the real price... cashiers actually look at the product you buy, and if they see the price as cheap they take might take an early break, take one and save it for themselves to buy.

While he shouldn't have played I'm novice scammer and I didn't know this is wrong card; he should still be punished. I wonder if this would affect him getting kicked out of school?

2005-12-02 02:49:29 PM
Why not make the fake barcode price a BIT MORE realistic??

2005-12-02 02:50:08 PM
Yeah, but it costs $4.99 for Apple to actually build an iPod. I guess I don't see the problem here...
