Here is a wicked idea. For every first down, take a hoot. For every TD, take 2 hoots, for every interception or fumble take 3 hoots. For a rouge take 4. If it's a good game, it'll be a great game.

The only rule is you only hoot when your team accomplishes these tasks. Or else you'd be gooned.

OF COURSE I'M TALKING ABOUT WEEEEED

2005-11-27 01:52:38 PM
Oh yeah, GO ESKS GO!

I was in Vancouver for Wednesday Thursday and Friday, it was one hell of a party all three days.... i wish i could see the game online or at least hear it on the radio.... anyone got a streaming link?

LETS GO ES-KI-MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!!!

Spirit of Edmonton and Calgary Hoedown were great, i can't wait to go to Winnipeg and stay for the whole weekend in 2006...

2005-11-27 05:39:40 PM
A rouge is a single point conceded by the defensive team for failing to return a missed field goal or deep punt from the endzone.
It's automatic if the ball goes through the endzone.
The CFL endzone is 20 yds deep.
The goalposts are on the goal line.

2005-11-27 05:42:04 PM
Hate both teams! My formative years were stuck watching Mtl vs Edm in the Grey Cup year after year. Hate, hate, HATE!!

/Just hope it isn't a boring game.
//Stupidest idea in the world to have the Black Eyed Peas perform at halftime.
///Hey Americans! This is the 93rd Grey Cup. Suck it!

2005-11-27 05:42:16 PM
Hmm.

I'm on the west side of the country, so geographically speaking, I should cheer for Edmonton
vs.
The Esks beat the Lions last week, so I should cheer for Montreal.

They sorta cancel each other out.

So, I will go by the merits of the cities, which is no contest, really. Go Als!

WSUCanuck: oh i'm sorry, i forgot to notice where 40 is a bigger number than 93...

Because we all know that football wasn't played here before the first super bowl.

2005-11-27 05:44:42 PM
I wish I could see the game on TV. I always liked Canadian football with 3 downs and a wide-ass field.

2005-11-27 05:45:37 PM
////PS slashys...Since Mass has already been traded to Hamilton, should he even be playing today?
/////Smelly.

Rouges, or rogues?

2005-11-27 05:47:58 PM
dsider: "The Grey Cup is the trophy awarded each year to the champion of the Canadian Football League. Donated by the then Governor General of Canada, Earl Grey, in 1909, it was to be awarded to the Rugby Football Champion of Canada.

For the first 45 years, football teams from various leagues in Canada could bid to compete for the championship and the trophy. In the early years, the winners were teams representing universities or local athletic associations. Since 1954, however, only teams that are members of the Canadian Football League have been allowed compete for "Earl Grey's mug"."

from http://www.mirroreyes.com/knowledge/ref/sports/greycup1.html

and going by JZ's rules of an actual "organized" Grey Cup vs. an "organized" Super Bowl, arguably you'd have to start at Super Bowl 4 or 5 (whenever they stopped doing AFL v. NFL) leaving this at Super Bowl 35 and the CFL would be at 51.

2005-11-27 05:48:24 PM
is this another rouge/rogue misspelling? Though with Quebeqois involved...

2005-11-27 05:48:35 PM
It's retarded that I had to read to the middle of the article before they dropped any clues as to what sport it was frickin' referring to.

Stupid writing makes me mad. >:(

2005-11-27 05:49:06 PM
ubermensch: Rouges, or rogues?

rouges. as in plural of rouge. as in the french word for the colour red.

2005-11-27 05:49:09 PM
Grey Cup weekend - booze, booze, Pamala Anderson, and booze. Oh yeah, and football.

2005-11-27 05:51:36 PM
Actually now i can remember when the NFL celebrated 75 years... it was when the 49ers won their last super bowl... 1995. Which makes this year their 85th year of existence....

Therefore, the Canadian Football Championship (excluding the existence of the CFL) has been around longer than the American Football Championship (excluding the Super Bowl)

2005-11-27 05:52:45 PM
j z: sal-paradise: hahaha, owned.

What are the tv ratings like for the Grey Cup? Does anyone outside of Canada care about it? Where do the best players play? America is the center of the football universe.

Don't worry Canada, you'll always have curling.

its ok to admit being wrong about the history of the CFL. It would be nice to show some character instead of being a huge pussy and changing the subject.

I was going to root for my Als (I'm 5 minutes from BC Place) but my GF is due to give birth any time now, so...what horrid timing. LOL!

Anyway, Maas and Ray have sucked a giant wiener lately. No matter how down the Als defense has been this year, I really can't see them doing much against them.

If you're an Eskies fan, you ought to be concerned that you may not get many points from anything OTHER than rouges.

Besides, if we're taking turns, you won last time, and we won the time before that...so it's our turn again.

Sorry Eskies. Go Oilers, though. Raffi Torres rules.

THE SHREVEPORT PIRATES!!!

Thats why the CFL rules.

Ok, for those who can't watch the game. Who are the starting QBs for both teams and the star players for either team?

peter_hook, wtf are you doing on Fark if your girlfriend is about to have a kid?

2005-11-27 05:54:46 PM
UGH!!! What's up with the Eskimos having men cheerleaders. Men cheerleaders on a football team?!!? What gives?

Now Als cheerleaders... that's how it's done.

Well the Als did lose to Winnipeg. How can a Grey Cup team lose to Winnipeg?

I'm embarassed for my country.

LOL - I thought it was hillarious when Paul Martin came out onto the field and the crowd booed him. I'd like to see Bush or Cheney brave a baseball game in Boston or New York. Bush won't get off his ranch unless there's a crowd of sychophants and a ginormous flag in the background.

2005-11-27 06:34:17 PM
Should be a good game, I think Montreal will win, but It'll be interesting if the Eskimos win. As a Winnipeger and therefore a Bomber fan, I hate them both, but oh well, maybe the Bomber's will actually spend some money in 2006 rather than paying their players in canned soup, and then it could be the Bombers in '06 at the Grey Cup in Winnipeg... also.. Black Eyed Peas as the halftime show? Surely there are better Canadian bands they couldve gotten. I know we can't have the Hip play every grey cup, still.. They should try to get Sum 41 or something for the Grey Cup in Winnipeg next year.. Or if the bombers cant afford that, maybe the Weakerthans.. or the Guess who.. heh. go bombers. :(

AndrewGK: Ok, for those who can't watch the game. Who are the starting QBs for both teams and the star players for either team?

Edmonton: If its not Ricky ray, its going to be Maas.
Montreal: The fark if i know. I'm surprised Montreal made it past Toronto the way they did. Robert Edwards?

2005-11-27 06:37:24 PM
Missing out hearing the game?

http://www.620ckrm.com ought to have a stream of the game for you...

Go Montreal? I guess. 21 - 11 Montreal will win it.

I hope Flutie has a good game.

"But underneath all of that good news lurks the single biggest issue all CFL teams continue to face from year to year: Few of them are ever profitable, needing things to fall exactly into place both on and off the field for any real chance of breaking even.

Consider that the Edmonton Eskimos, playoff participants each season for more than three decades and making their third Grey Cup trip in four years, are projecting a small loss for this season. That states volumes in a league where most other teams don't enjoy the Eskimos uninterrupted record of on-field success, stability of management or unqualified backing in their community."

Whenever I hear the word Eskimo it makes me think of that Corky and the Juice Pigs Song

I'm the only gay Eskimo
I'm the only one I know
I'm the only gay Eskimo
In my tribe

I go out seal hunting with my best friend Tarka
But all want to do is get into his parka

I'm the only gay Eskimo
In my tribe

Well me and Nukflukchukbuk
We both like blubber
But me I've got this crazy fetish for rubber

I'm the only gay Eskimo
In my tribe

I make a wish on the Northern Lights
That I can find a decent pair of whaleskin tights

I'm the only gay Eskimo
In my tribe

And the seals they sing now...
[seal noises]

These cold winter nights
Are taking their toll
I even get excited when I see the North Pole
See the North Pole...

I'm the only gay Eskimo
Only gay Eskimo
I'm the only one I know
The only one I know-oh-oh-oh
I'm the only gay Eskimo
In my tribe

HAHAHA its 3-1..... hilarious...

wtf CJAD is doing a "Pamela Anderson update".... god i hate that skank.

Are we sure its not the Oilers and Canadiens?

2005-11-27 06:43:35 PM
Nine teams in the league, and SIX make the playoffs? Are you kidding me? What's the point of having a regular season if you're only going to eliminate THREE TEAMS. They play 18 games just to decide which three teams won't compete for the title.
